@247jellybean Wrong. Archer is the manifestation of Shirou's ideals, not Shirou himself. The Holy Grail War only contains heroes from the Past and present, not the future. I'm a HUGE fate/stay night fan so i know :D Archer's wants to kill Shirou, or rather change his ideals so that he won't be created, since his life is all about saving the many, but sacrificing the few. He hates that.

Didn't Tohsaka perform her summoning so well she ended up with a hero from the future? (Obv, "Alternate Universe" due to being a "potential" outcome of "present" Shirou's decisions....) I don't remember completely, I read the VN about a year or two ago, but from what I can recall Unlimited Blade Works is unique to the "Shirou" of that future and not the "present" Shirou. The "present" Shirou manifests his own version due to exposure to the "future" Shirou. (1 outcome)

@karbon35 That's correct. Unlimited Blade Works is tuned the individual - Shirou's reality marble is different than that of Archer's because they hold very different ideals. It's why in Heaven's Feel, that Shirou cannot reach into Archer's reality to craft 'Nine Lives' during his fight with Berserker.

(The person I was responding to had claimed that Archer himself was the manifestation of Shirou's ideals, which isn't true).

The movie was pure fanservice (not in the "oooh panities" sense but in the "oooh gratuitous fight scenes between fan-favorite characters" sense). The story was chopped, truncated/trimmed down and compressed to an incomprehensible level but damn those fights were so pretty. It was just nice to see fights as they were imagined by Nasu and Type-Moon not just a slideshow limited by the restrictions of the visual novel medium.

If you compare this anime with the prequel that is currently going on, it is bad lol. Fate zero is far superior to the original anime. That proves that this isn't one of the best animes so far. @Neardrage A sequel isn't likely to happen, unfortunately. The way Fate/Stay Night was written doesn't lend itself well to a sequel.

There's a prequel in Fate/Zero, coming out soon, though.

And if you're okay with seeing the FSN and Tsukihime gang being less "dark and bloody" and more "Sugary fun happy-time fumoffu", there's "Carnival Phantasm" - four episodes of that is out now, and eight more will soon be on its way.

If you ever play the Visual Novel, the Realta Nua ending should eventually bring the Saber/Shirou story to a close.
