It wasn't a slap. It's called peagon. It's a type of karate that focuses on open palm fighting. It teaches you how you drive your palm up people noses to kill them etc. Your palm is much harder and stronger then your knuckles so this hurts the receiver more and hurts the one doing it less.

@Machoo16 There's more ways to be tough than be big. If there's years of fighting training going into that guy, he's a perfectly safe guy to hire.
His only mistake here was letting his guard down. You never let people in your personal space while on the job, then you invite get cowardly sneak attacks like we see here. And apparently he had no colleagues nearby, so that's even more relevant.
When in doubt, push them away. When they get in your face over that, you know they're out for trouble.
