Alesana's music is based around Literature, and the Emptiness is mostly based around Edgar Allen Poe's "Annabel Lee", where annabel lee is murdered and 'the Artist' (her husband or lover) goes insane over the haeartbreak and kills then has sex with the bodies. Either I'm glad they left the rapeing dead bodies out of the songs XD
