I'm probably the only head who prefers the Lynyrd Skynyrd over the Steve Miller version. The reason why 'Face does Bushwick's verse on that other version, is simply because he wrote his rhymes. Kinda like Ren and 'Cube did for Eazy back in the day.
The 1990 self titled "Geto Boys" cassette, which has the Steve Miller "Gangster of Love" sample and Bushwick Bill, is # 7599-24306-4. They did make a CD with that version, but they're pretty scarce. I wonder if they made a CD or cassette single? Each version of "Gangster" is significantly different in length, this one is 5:12 long. The shittty "gagsta-boogie" version is 5:24. I only mention this so you can quickly weed out the junk.
you forgot Prince Johnny C he was an original GB assassins their arguably second biggest song originally was ALL him it was rereleased on the GETO BOYS album with Willy D scarface and bushwick spittin it
I can confirm that this version is also available on LP. Just went and checked then and I have it. The inner sleeve has no liner notes, it is a generic "Def America" sleeve. It also has the "Def America is opposed to censorship..." Label on the front. Cat No: is 7599-24306-1 ... Purchased in the UK so maybe they hit europe before getting recalled? Incidently, I always thought the Skynard was the rare one! I had that on tape, and not sure but I think remember it being "Geffin"!
@91Joko Not to be contradictory, but Raheem was indeed a member back in 1987. Check out the back of their first record, "Car Freak," it says, "The Getto Boys are Oscar Ceres (Raheem), Thelton Pope (K-9), Keith Rodgers (Juke Box)" - it's a caption to the three of them standing alongside each other. And on the front cover, he's the guy leaning on the hood.
Excellent video, I got the second "Joker" version in my computer that's only available on the original "Geto Boys" album. By the way what does it say on the back of the album cover about 2 live Crew? I could read "May the 2 Live Crew...."
First off let me say That Werner puts alot of his time in making these videos, and they are all excellent, everybody makes a mistake here and there once in awhile..werner is a great guy and I enjoy all of his reviews...keep um comin
Hahaha, for a second* I thought that dgambler21 was THE Steve Miller and he had just swung by to correct things, cause after all this song is his 'walk this way'.
Hey werner it's Steve Miller , not Minor and the Steve Miller versions were available on the Og Grip It Cassette, Og Grip It CD , Geto Boys Cassette....Geto Boys Vinyl, I could be wrong but dont think it was ever on the geto Boys cd..It was also available on the Grip It Vinyl which I think only had 6 tracks....If you really want to dig deeper , some of Scarface's Lyrics are different on Different songs on the Og Grip It and the Geto Boys release
@dgambler21 Haha Yeah - there's a filmmaker named Steve Miner, and I kinda jumbled the two.
Good call on the differences between the versions of the other songs... You just gave me one more reason to go back and re-listen to both albums some more! =)

I always thought there was 2 versions? Masta Ace did the same with switching samples. Pain in the ass for the collector side of things.

This song reaffirms my heterosexuality every time I hear it. Why can't rap be this politically incorrect today?

Sry, that's the barcode number. Cat Number is DEF 24306, which I believe is the same

Raheem was never a part of Geto Boys, he was a first artist to ever release an LP on Rap-A-Lot...

@fleshnbone187 Well spotted! It reads, "may the 2 Live Crew rise above the oppression and overcome the opposition."

@WernerVonWallenrod Also what does each member say as well? Could you write it down? I'd be thankful.

That Geto Boys self titled 3rd album was not on DEF JAM, but actually DEF AMERICAN, which is the label Rick Rubin started when he left DEF JAM.
