how do you tie the bands on so they dont come off when you pull it back? thats my biggest fear of slingshots, being slapped in the face by one of the bands lol
I would like to see the Bonecrusher ammo shot into a ballistics gelatine mold of a person with bones and organs inside like on the show Deadliest Warrior to see the real effect this ammo has on bones.
@mike471100 If it's a pistol we are talking about, maybe you wouldn't die, because the bullet can get stuck... but it's a SMALL chance of that happening so, yeah, you're dead...
Hi Joerg, I'm a BIG fan of yours by the way. I notice that in almost all of your VDO, you have hardly mention about the "accuracy factor". You should always mention some thing about "accuracy", especialy with-in an effective range, ie 10 m., 20m.,....up to 50 m... I think these accuracy factor also mean alot to many of us rather than just the "raw power " alone :)
@hotpeng There are lots of slingshot videos about accuracy made by other youtubers. My specialty is power. I am not a target shooter, so that is simply not my specialty. My shooting distance ends at 20 meters, and I can hit a shoebox size target with every shot at that distance. Good enough for me.
@JoergSprave Hey Joerg, I was wondering have you ever used concrete balls i know they would be pretty light but maybe for target practice? I personally have used and hate to use rocks for target practice they are to sharp/uniform to really allow you to get good at target practice.
I know you don't do that much target shooting but I just wanted to know your opinion on using concrete balls about 1/2 in/50cal?
Thanks!, oh by the way love your vids there great!
@minibikerider1 Have never seen concrete balls, what are they used for? I use steel balls for practicing, you only need a few of them as they never break or deform. A good catchbox, stuffed with old T-shirts, and maybe fifty steel balls, and you are all set for years of practice.
@JoergSprave I would make a mold and pour in concrete to make ammo but you think I should just make a catch box and use steel balls, OK thanks Joerg thats will be what I do. (steel balls with catch box)
The camerawoman's your wife? No offense, but doesn't this sound like one of those generic joke punchlines you hear on tv? The one where people say: "That's no ________, that's my wife!"
These are by far the coolest, most professional and informative videos on slingshots. Very entertaining!!! Thank you Joerg. - You rock! By the way I use some very nasty ammo. I take car wheel weights (you can find them on the street everywhere) and cut them into square chunks with dikes. GNARLY!
I have a barnett cobra slingshot but use .38 cal balls and am in the middle of making my own, what is the difference between lead and stainless steel balls? and the difference between .38 and .44 cal balls?
It's proably worth me mentioning i hunt rabbits and pheasants and wonder which is best.
You could also take acrylic spheres and fill them with bb's for a shotgun effect. Once they impact they would break open releasing the bb's. They can also be filled with gunpowder and small spark rocks for explosive ammo.
@frankcoffee im sorry but none of that would work. the shotgun effect would just be a large ball that breaks open, but not of the balls would actually continue motion and impact the target, and the gunpowder and spark rocks. im not even going to get into that.
hey i just made a sling shot like the one that looks like like that one and shoots very good i killed a turkey in the face and eat it i made the bone crusher and killed the turkey with it thanks alot joerg and nice video
you should shot balistics gelatin with thiese "bonecrushers". I allways wonder, what is worse to vital organ... deep penetration or good impact? Like screwdriver or hammer...
Do you plan on any ballistic gelatin testing with this bonecrusher shot? I'm curious if it would penetrate less than a round ball due to it's increased surface area.
What is the purpose and function of these slingshots?
When I was a kid I'd run around like a moron and try to hit trees, rocks, and little animals etc. But now that I'm grown up I can't see a reason why a grown-ass man would want to use these.
You could ask the same of any sport or pure entertainment medium. Some people also use them for hunting food (whether that's a good or bad thing to be doing is debatable and seperate). I don't understand why a grown man would want to run 'round a field with a load of other men and a ball-but it's popular and relatively harmless so what the heck:)
I believe that JoergSprave makes slingshots for two reasons: 1) its fun (and really that's all the reason one needs) and 2) to prove that slingshots are NOT just kids toys. See his hunting kit for example.
Everyone needs a hobby, and unless it hurts someone there is no reason to complain. Or do you disagree? Personally I cannot imagine how boring life would be if the only reason to do things was because it would make me money or whatnot.
Why do you assume pro-sports? Never heard of people doing a sport for fun, 5-a-side football, Sunday league. Look at something like jet-skiing or water skiing, there are people who get paid for it sure, but that's not why the vast majority do it. The most obvious comparrisson would perhaps be archery, or target shooting, it's fun for some so those people want to do it to have fun...there's nothing wrong with that surely? Video games could also fit a similar category; but there's no excercise.
Also if you look at the time and work that JoergSprave puts into design then it is something of a mental stimulation hobby for him too. So some potential benfits (and remembering it's just a fun hobby): mental stimulation and thinking outside the traditional; hand-eye coordination; physical excercise; calming the nerves; potential to control pests/get food. Advangtages over similar hobbies: cheaper; more portable; less legal issues; ease of learning the basics. What are your objections?
@HumanStrategy I am a almost 50 and was into martial arts for very long time until I smashed my knee, sitting at home with a pipe & slippers watching that kids game that many of you think you know so much about yes boring fucking football.A game played by children, why as chidren you would want to play this pathetic game is beyond me and carry on playing it as an adult is even more pathetic. each to their own some think it's clever to kick a 10 inch ball into a target 12 ft wide & over 6 ft tall
"each to their own some think it's clever to kick a 10 inch ball into a target 12 ft wide & over 6 ft tall"
You must not have read my comment. I address reasons for doing the activity (money) not the skill or "cleverness"involved. You are arguing with yourself.
I find it surprising that some who is almost 50 would base his arguments on strawman fallacies. It appears you have some catching up to do. ^_^
Well, shooting slingshots is great fun! Come on, you are outdoors, you exercize a bit (without exhaustions), the cost is so low that it is downright ridiculous, and everything is perfectly legal.
Also, no kid can draw out my strongest slingshots, believe me.
@JoergSprave I was having a go at Human strategy he was the one who said why would a grown -ass man want to play with these. All I was trying to say was football was a game played by children but many carry on playing into adulthood, he obviously sees slingshots as a kids toy and something you do only as a child well I see football in the same way Something you played as a kid.
Seems to have no effect at all. Remember the things fly slow and are very heavy. This leads to a very straight flight, wind and so on has no influence either.
Is there a way to shoot many projectiles at the same time? Like a shot gun load? this is something I've always wondered about with sling shots. Thanks
I always like all the creative, inventive stuff you come up with. The bone crusher looks deadly because of the washer, it could slice the target. I would like to see it used on a piece of 3/4 inch plywood. I bet it would stick into the wood with the edge of the washer.
I must ask, why is that? surely there must be pests that need taking care of, although I imagine an air rifle would be more effective against such things.
Yes well, that's nothing to be ashamed of, people like different things for different reasons. I was just wondering why you have all these marvelous devices, of which only a very select few have been designed for hunting. Look forward to more vids!
Is that like the Chupacabra in Latin American folklore? They say its some ugly, weird creature that sucks on the goats blood. They use this creature to scare kids, but I don't think that's nice or healthy to mentally traumatize a child.
Chupacabra is a weapon we created to kill off the mexican population by eating their babies, its not working very well so now we reconsider alcohol prohibition to counter them since procreation with mexican women is impossible without liquor
I suppose you're correct - excuse me for my many years playing paintball and studying the ballistics involved at higher fps. I pack a slingshot in my shtf bag for small game hunting - whilst the bonecrusher would certainly pack a punch with something larger I have an inkling it just wouldn't help my aim and distance. Regardless, slingshots are primarily for fun and I don't think you've ever failed in that regard. Keep up the innovative ideas.
Loved the smile on your face. Muskets and early rifles could only handle low pressure charges. To compensate, a heavy and large diameter projectile compensated. Although of limited practical range due to a rainbow trajectory, the relatively massive projectiles often prove more effective than modern flat shooting rifles using fast and smaller projectiles. The .45-70 with a 400g bullet at 1,300fps is a better bear stopper than a .30-06 with a 180g bullet at 2,600fps. Size matters :O)

are you kidding me!? Joerg could probably shoot right through the ply wood
ninjapunk200 2 years ago
Good! Then let him put 2 pieces of 3/4 inch plywood and post the vid. lol

Another great video, it's nice to see you have fun with your hobby instead of taking it so serious, like some people do.

hahhhahaha:P
laurentprodz 2 years ago
Yes, I will try to hunt down the largest "wolpertinger" out there!
A 400 pound rabbit with 16-end antlers and 1 meter tusks.
JoergSprave 2 years ago
do they live in germany?
i live in holland and never seen one
and keep in mind you must kill the animal
in one shot if not try to kill the animal as fast you can
or else you are torturing the animal very very hard
laurentprodz 2 years ago
Just type "Wolpertinger" into wikipedia!
JoergSprave 2 years ago
The Wolpertinger is a FICTIONAL animal said to inhabit the alpine forests of Bavaria in Germany.

You got it. I am no hunter and shoot at dead things only, except when I am under attack. Which never happened so far.
JoergSprave 2 years ago
I must ask, why is that? surely there must be pests that need taking care of, although I imagine an air rifle would be more effective against such things.

The last time I killed a mouse the cats brought in, I felt miserable for days. I guess I am too soft hearted for that stuff.
JoergSprave 2 years ago
Yes well, that's nothing to be ashamed of, people like different things for different reasons. I was just wondering why you have all these marvelous devices, of which only a very select few have been designed for hunting. Look forward to more vids!

Is that like the Chupacabra in Latin American folklore? They say its some ugly, weird creature that sucks on the goats blood. They use this creature to scare kids, but I don't think that's nice or healthy to mentally traumatize a child.
D33Lux 2 years ago
Chupacabra is a weapon we created to kill off the mexican population by eating their babies, its not working very well so now we reconsider alcohol prohibition to counter them since procreation with mexican women is impossible without liquor

Very awesome Joerg as always but I can't help but think that the bonecrusher would be very inaccurate.
MenagerieRPG 2 years ago
Why? Slingshot bullets fly so slowly that the shape does not matter. They always fly straight.
JoergSprave 2 years ago
I suppose you're correct - excuse me for my many years playing paintball and studying the ballistics involved at higher fps. I pack a slingshot in my shtf bag for small game hunting - whilst the bonecrusher would certainly pack a punch with something larger I have an inkling it just wouldn't help my aim and distance. Regardless, slingshots are primarily for fun and I don't think you've ever failed in that regard. Keep up the innovative ideas.

Love the slow motion shots!

Heute ist der Jörg ja mal richtig chic gekleidet ^ ^
Aber warum ist die Bildqualität so schlecht?
WUNDENFLAMME 2 years ago
Weil Du sehr früh dran bist. YOutube braucht immer ein paar Stunden, bis ein FullHD-Video ordentlich umgerechnet ist. Steht auch oben drüber.
JoergSprave 2 years ago
Nice idea. Have you ever tried to use lead to increase the weight of those balls?
adfdasfadfdaaaa 2 years ago
The bullets are already very heavy and fairly slow. More weight means LESS energy, even for this powerful slingshot.
JoergSprave 2 years ago
Now you should shoot some "bone crushers" at ballistic gelatin in slomo. That would be awesome.
Krazy86ss 2 years ago 3
@Krazy86ss i second that
GIjoemomma002 1 year ago
Then check out "Sling-X-Bow vs. Ballistic Gelatin", I shot the bonecrusher into the gelatin at the end of the vid, just for you guys.
