Whilst they may not all be the same, they certainly don't get a bad press for no reason. My dog has been attacked 3 times by other dogs, out of the blue for no reason. All 3 times the attacking dog was a pitbull.

I'm more scared of my mother's Chihuahua who hasn't had an ounce of behavioral training than I ever would be of my pitbull, Blue. Any dog can be vicious, it's all about how it is raised. And fact, a pit's jaws DO NOT lock. They have very large jaw muscles, so they have a powerful bite, but no locking jaws.

I have a Labrador myself, his best friend in the dogpark is a Pitbull they are both males and no they haven´t been raised together. That Pitbull is more gentle than my own Labrador and is very well trained. Here in Sweden we don´t belive in banning breeds we belive in educating ppl instead. I wouldn´t hesitate to get a Pit as my next dog.

@EliteZodiac92 I don´t know if there is a difference in how they breed Pits here from in other countries, but I don´t think so.I do know however that we haven´t had any major accidends in this country with them. We don´t ban any breeds, only thing is you do have to go to dog training when owning stronger breeds in general. The bite statistics here are topped by Golden Retrivers.. I think it is important to be a responible owner whatever dog you have!

@diehardghost - you saw pits at the shelter because like yourself, most people are uninformed and ignorant of the facts and truths about pits. They are scared of them because of what the media has turned them into. Really, read up on the history of the pit and go visit people with a pit in their home, they will tell you, as i do, that pits are loving, beautiful pets.

I'm getting rid of my lab pit mix cuz the dog is agressive , it barks at every noise and it has issues like chewing and makes annoying cries when I leave it . also it eats too much . I just contacted a rescue group to try and rehome it . pits suck their the worst dogs ever cuz they chew on stuff and their dog agressive .

The only breeds I have ever seen were Belgians, German Shepherds, Setters or Labs. But not pits, bulls, or rottweilers. The actual pitbull breed was started the late 1800s.

Someone stoled my dog and forced him to fight,but we found him and took him home... He died two months after that,because he was depressed... man who helped us to take him told us he didnt want to fight... im just happy that he could die in his home and not in some cold place... i hate humans.

I disagree about the nature of the breed. Genetically they are fierce animals. I'm not sure the breed is salvagable . The Doberman had problems in the 70s being bred for temprement(agression). Responsible breeders saved them, but they're service dogs. Pitties are purpose-bred aggresive(animal/human(now)) Look to theaverage owner in the US, they're "gangsta dogs" and for every responsible breeder, there are 2 "kennels" breeding for agression. A recipe for failure. They're too specialized to save.

The German Shepherd was bred by the Germans to kill prisoners during World War II by the Nazis. Yet they are also used for good purposes. Same goes for the group of dogs called pit bulls. There were pit bulls used as search & rescue dogs after 9/11. One of Vick's surviving victims just passed away and was a therapy dog for cancer patients. The dog was never the problem. The human is responsible for breeding dogs responsibly and making them safe around people and animals.

I volunteer at an animal shelter and these poor pit bulls are some of the most loving dogs you could ever come across. The only monsters are the humans that abuse them, recklessly breed them, discard them, kill them, let them run loose, don't know what they are doing with them, don't address any aggression issues with any dog with a professional ASAP, dispose of them when they don't want them any more. @diehardghost - Pits are not dangerous and unpredictable. Just as with any dog, if you don't train it how to be have appropriately it will not do so. I'm more scared of my mother's Chihuahua who hasn't had an ounce of behavioral training than I ever would be of my pitbull, Blue. Any dog can be vicious, it's all about how it is raised. And fact, a pit's jaws DO NOT lock. They have very large jaw muscles, so they have a powerful bite, but no locking jaws.

BSL is being challenged and it is being stopped because people realize it is based only on hate with no facts behind it. Let's ban Pomeranians since one killed a baby or let's ban that German Shepherd or Labrador Retriever that killed. They all can kill in the right conditions. They have teeth. Put the blame where it belongs with dog fighters. Pit bulls are used as therapy dogs, search & rescue dogs & as pets. Most dogs all were used for more than one thing. BAN HATE.

@diehardghost I don´t know how you can see things in black and white as you do. I have a Labrador myself, his best friend in the dogpark is a Pitbull they are both males and no they haven´t been raised together. That Pitbull is more gentle than my own Labrador and is very well trained. Here in Sweden we don´t belive in banning breeds we belive in educating ppl instead. I wouldn´t hesitate to get a Pit as my next dog.

@EliteZodiac92 I don´t know if there is a difference in how they breed Pits here from in other countries, but I don´t think so.I do know however that we haven´t had any major accidends in this country with them. We don´t ban any breeds, only thing is you do have to go to dog training when owning stronger breeds in general. The bite statistics here are topped by Golden Retrivers.. I think it is important to be a responible owner whatever dog you have!

@diehardghost Any dog can be aggressive. I volunteer at an animal shelter and there are plenty of pit bulls that are wonderful, loving dogs. All dogs are individuals. Labs, German Shepherds, etc. Pomeranians have killed people. All dogs can bite. It is up to the owner of the dog to make it safe around people and animals. Socialize the dog with people and animals, train it, don't let it run loose and treat any aggression issues ASAP with a professional to stop it. The human is the problem

@diehardghost One of the monster football player's surviving victims just recently passed away and this supposedly monster dog (according to pit bull haters) was a therapy dog for cancer patients. Pit bulls were used as search and rescue dogs to search for victims after 9/11. The only monsters are the dog fighters and other animal abusers.

Any dog can become aggressive under the right conditions. You have to look at what is going on in that dog's home. @jec933 friendly breeds like labrador , golden retrievers , grey hounds , and siberian huskies are bred to be friendly and family oriented . many families get labradors and goldren retrievers and sometimes huskies but labs and goldens wins hands down as family pets while dangerous pit bulls sit in animal shelters . I know I went down to animal shelter to get a cat and saw tons of menacing pit bulls .

I'm getting rid of my lab pit mix cuz the dog is agressive , it barks at every noise and it has issues like chewing and makes annoying cries when I leave it . also it eats too much . I just contacted a rescue group to try and rehome it . pits suck their the worst dogs ever cuz they chew on stuff and their dog agressive .

Every one needs to stop saying they are ''bred to kill" and other such things. yes i know they are, but that doesnt make every one a "demon dog." It is how the dog is raised. Yes, they are VERY strong dogs, but so what? that would make me feel safer! ANY dog can turn on you! not just pit bulls.if you treat it right, it most likely wont hurt you. The only breeds I have ever seen were Belgians, German Shepherds, Setters or Labs. But not pits, bulls, or rottweilers. The actual pitbull breed was started the late 1800s.

Murrieta, CA - Murrieta police say that two large pitbulls chewed off the testicles of a 6-month-old boy strapped in a baby carrier on Saturday.
Carrie McKinney left her child in the carrier on the floor in her friend's apartment.
That is when the pitbulls attacked the baby, tearing off the infant's diaper and biting his scrotum.

Someone stoled my dog and forced him to fight,but we found him and took him home... He died two months after that,because he was depressed... man who helped us to take him told us he didnt want to fight... im just happy that he could die in his home and not in some cold place... i hate humans.

I disagree about the nature of the breed. Genetically they are fierce animals. I'm not sure the breed is salvagable . The Doberman had problems in the 70s being bred for temprement(agression). Responsible breeders saved them, but they're service dogs. Pitties are purpose-bred aggresive(animal/human(now)) Look to theaverage owner in the US, they're "gangsta dogs" and for every responsible breeder, there are 2 "kennels" breeding for agression. A recipe for failure. They're too specialized to save.

For many years I thought Pitbulls were a bad breed, crule & mean naturaly. But my husband opened my eyes to all, I have meat many wonderful loving pitbulls now and know they are not bad but the people that are their owners. It breaks my heart to see all of this harm to such a beautiful animal. I wish the sick bastards that do this would get the same treatment, beaten, stuck in a cage & made to fight to the death with no love in their lives. We will be getting one soon and it will know only love!

It does make me cry. People that do this shit to dogs/animals or people are the worst of the worst. They enjoy the torture, suffering and death of living things. They need to be in prison for a long time. They don't just kill something quickly so that it doesn't suffer. They want that living thing to suffer as long as possible to get that high and get their rocks off.
