@jpongsin2002 no the rooster is saying JANIE, STOP THIS CRAZY THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...sorry, that was a Jetsons reference. I know it was dumb, but i had to say it :)'
Guild Home Video/Guild Film Distribution merged with Pathe Films in 1997, forming a new name of Guild Pathe Cinema Limited. Guild also had "Rental distribution rights" with 20TH Century Fox, operating as Fox Guild Entertainment and after the Pathe merger, Fox Pathe Home Entertainment.
The "Guild" name disappeared in 1998, when Guild Pathe Cinema, became "Pathe Distribution"
OK marlinlee, thanks! I didn't know Edison started the first serial. If you're interested in Pathé Exchance, do read 'Joseph P. Kennedy presents, his Hollywood years' by Cari Beauchamp (Alfred A. Knopf, 2009). Yours!
RKO took over the Pathe Exchange, the American distribution arm of Pathe, in 1929; they had distributed the comedies of Mack Sennett and Hal Roach at the same time (imagine that).
That rooster owns the world!

Actually the first movie serial was "What Happened to Mary" released by Edison in 1912.
Oh and just to nitpick "Perils of Pauline" was released in 1914.
