Wobble, shimmy, tank-slapper,[1] speed wobble, and even death wobble are all words and phrases used to describe a quick (4 - 10 Hz) oscillation of primarily just the steerable wheel(s) of a vehicle. The rest of the vehicle remains mostly unaffected. bla bla bla and in theory any vehicle with a single steering pivot point and a sufficient amount of freedom of the steered wheel; this does not include most automobiles.
oversteer is not tank-slapping. tank-slapping a car might start with oversteer but it is then when the car snaps back uncontrollably the other direction much like on a bike..
@adriankb83 you can't tank slap a fucking car, PERIOD. The gas tank is nowhere near you in a car. It's called oversteering and overcorrecting. It's not like a bike.
@Versatile337 ahh the Internet - where everyone is always right. Its different to on a bike, yes - its not a violent wobble and your nuts are not slapping your precious metal. I think we get that. I'll give you that this video the crash is not a proper tank-slapper, not enough left, right, left and the steering snapping (as opposed to consistent oversteer) - but you can get the same tank-slapper *sensation* in a car as on a bike - something like this "Tank Slapper Madness" by @kinloud
@adriankb83 wobble or shimmy begins when some otherwise minor irregularity, such as fork asymmetry, accelerates the wheel to one side. The restoring force is applied in phase with the progress of the irregularity, and the wheel turns to the other side where the process is repeated. If there is insufficient damping in the steering the oscillation will increase until system failure occurs. This is a tank-slapper.

@adriankb83 yes u can get this left-right-left motion on a car too, but its waaay slower than a tank slapping.
this here is a typical overcorrection.

A tank slapper in a car is the same way as on a bike. Front end gets light and the steering goes away creating a tight swerve.
