  • So beautiful.

  • there is no canada like french canada.

  • @nuddelpowah french is one of two official languages in canada

  • I can't stop listening!! amazing song!!

  • a bad translation when he says " dans le vers ou dans la pierre" mean " in the rhyme or in the stone" and not in the "glass" ...^^

  • @jajanb1 it's "dans le verre ou dans la pierre" so the translation is "in the glass or in the stone"

  • @583Jan not "dans le verre" but "dans le vers" that means nothing to writing something in the glass.. (in that context^^)

and before he says " the artist of status unknown of the sculpure and verse" (artistes anonymes de la sulpture et de la rime ) that why, stone for sculpture and rhyme for poet who write verse and rhyme

so i think the real french word is not "verre" but "vers" and the correct translation is "rhyme"

  • @jajanb1 I have the original cd with it's lyrics book that I bought in 1997 and it is clearly written "Dans le verre ou dans la pierre". It makes perfect sense because the cathedral were made of glass and stones. Building these cathedrals was the way humans wrote their history with glass and stone. Of course they didn't "write" in glass, you have to read between the lines :)

  • @jajanb1 Yes it is in "Man write his History in the glass or in the stone", meaning stone for statues and glass for stained glasses windows of the cathedrals. At this time lot of people didn't write or read and History was shown in the statues and stained glasses. Our ancesters were artists !

  • WOW I'm speachless !!!

  • Thanks to this musical I've started to learn french. I must say it's pretty complicated language and very different from my mothertounge-polish. But it's worth it!

  • omg what beautiful voice!

  • How old is this musical? It's the original version, right?

  • @MsAsificare the version is like ten years ago,and of course the best so far

  • @MsAsificare yes.

  • est-ce qu'il etait vraiment fait en Quebec? c'est magnifique!

  • Can I ask a silly question plz? Is this play a musical or an opera?

  • @LadyDark000 Depends on your definitions of both. It's entirely sung through if that's what you're wondering.

  • @LadyDark000 It is a sung-through musical ; I guess that's what Italian people call an "opera popolare" ;)

  • супер

  • la versione francese è nettamente superiore a quella italiana e a tutte le altre :)

  • Maintenant, on dirait :

  • 51 peolple prefer justin bieber.

  • Oh God!!!

  • bruno is one of my favorite singers, and with this play, he totally won my heart:X

  • 51 people went century after century sans amour.

  • The music is pure magic... lyrics crappy

  • @MariosTsak

it's crappy because you probably read the "crappy" tanslation.

but if you take the lyrics in french, they're really good actually.

  • @secret234

well I sort of understand the same thing in French.

He's telling a story, very well, lets pretend hes talking about the marvels of architecture.

  • @MariosTsak why do you say that?

  • @undeadretard7

Usually I don't care much about the lyrics. But I couldn't help it, 'cause of the translation, I can speak french, though while listening to music I sometimes ignore what it says.Anyway the translation got me interested in paying attention. It could be just a story about extraordinary achievements, such as constructing a beautiful Cathedral, so big and high, that it would be like sth divine for that era. What I dislike is the religious point of view of this story (but who cares

  • @MariosTsak So, you dislike the lyrics for their religious point of view? Lyrically, this song isn't my favorite, but most of the other songs in the play are absolutely breathtaking in music, lyrics, performance, everything. These are some of the most beautiful songs I've heard in any language, again, both musically and lyrically. If you can't appreciate the songs for their lyrics because of their religious undertones, your missing out on a huge part of what music is.

  • @undeadretard7 "If you can't appreciate the songs for their lyrics because of their religious undertones, your missing out on a huge part of what music is."

Usually I ignore the lyrics as I said and I focus to the melody of the voice.

If it was poetry and you felt the same about the subject, would you read (appreciate) it?

I wouldn't be missing out a huge part of music. Since lyrics are not even a tiny part of it.

  • @MariosTsak Poetry is poetry. Any form of self expression, regardless of whether or not I agree with the message, can be absolutely beautiful. Lyrics aren't even a tiny part of it?! It certainly is possible to appreciate music without lyrics, but adding the lyrics adds a whole other dimension to the music that has the potential to turn a mediocre song with a mediocre singer into a masterpiece. The lyrics are just as much a part of the song as the music.

  • @undeadretard7 If you disagree with the message, how can the lyrics be beautiful. The vocal line could be beautiful, but not the words. And in this specific song how could the words be beautiful when the message praises the world s most disgusting movement of all times. (thats my point but didnt want to flame the subject

  • @MariosTsak "the vocal line could be beautiful, but not the words" I just don't understand how you don't think words could be beautiful. People cry when watching this musical because of the words, not the music. Lyrics of any religious or non religious background can be beautiful when they are written with passion and sincerity. What is poetry but a song without music? You've basically just said that poetry is a waste of time, because words on a paper can't be written in a beautiful way.

  • @MariosTsak I am a Christian. When Esmeralda starts talking about how she wants to be free from religion in the song 'Vivre', I don't agree with her. I think religion is the only way to true freedom. The lyrics to the song, however, are still so emotionally charged and passionate that it is impossible not to appreciate what the song writer is doing. Lyrically, it conveys perfectly the emotions of Esmeralda and gets to the depths of what she is feeling. Its beautiful. And yet, I don't agree.

  • what a beautiful voice... just wow

this was awesome in so many ways

  • He is more like a French than any French I know...

  • @90Lyka the singer is french canadian, Bruno Pelletier

  • @583Jan Yes that is what I meant. He is a Candian not a French.

  • so.. thx RICCARDO COCCIANTE to this present u did to all us...

  • :) i just want remember to everyone that the songs are from an italian singer..so.. without him.. u people wont listent to this... *_*

  • @MrMarta1986 The music is from Cocciante the song's lyrics are from Luc Plamondon. They both did an awesome job :)

  • I can't even imagine the feeling of being into this theater while he's singing.... oh god, he's amazing!

  • I saw it live when I was about 5, and even at that age beeing right at the back, it was magical. I think it's one of the best musical comedies ever. And his voice is just SO amazing!!!

  • Ugh, I love knowing french so that I understand this even more!
