  • her fast fingers are funny

  • Great! Thanks for getting videos like this onto Youtube. Both the composer and the player are great... completely different world of music in comparison to western.

  • This is the best thing I have heard tonight , thank you.

  • Sensacional música. Debería ser más accesible para la población en general. Salvaría muchas vidas.

  • that was amazin

  • @XxXhazebabezXxX and it's still amazing ^.^

  • Excellent performance!!!

  • That was incredible. I can't wait to compose something for koto. What a cool instrument!

  • awesome!!

  • does anyone know a song that is similar to this one on the koto?

  • Michio Miyagi composed this and it is loosely based on the faster sections of several well-known classics such as Rokudan and Midare (both written by Yatsuhashi Kengyo). If you like this, you will love the faster sections of Midare.

  • すばらしい!

  • i wish i could do that, but there is no such thing as a koto in england... :(

  • She's getting down with her bad self! 5 stars from Germany.

  • @MarkThompson01

    Haha....lol, well said!!

  • This is so exotic

    I like it very much

  • I come back to view this and listen to this performance by this incredibly powerful musician almost every day, and some times a few times a day ! BRAVO !!

  • I have a recording of Miyagi Michio playing his composition Tegoto and its tempo and articulation are very similar to this interpretation. However, the composer's attack is more precise and the dynamics are more pronounced.

  • You can't really compare a recording on an album to a live performance, there are nuances and important dynamics which will ultimately be lost in this setting as shown. I would love to get the album you are talking about though, please advise ?

  • Wow she is jamming out! She plays koto like a champ!

  • Woow...amazing ^ ^

  • for me, an inspirational piece of music. WOW.

  • this is great !

  • woow these scales and chords

  • Thank goodness to the koto music world, there are a heck of a lot more exciting things coming out of this world than any of the other long zither worlds. Its not violent, its intensity that few "performers" can really emote. Violent is guns shooting human beings. Intense passion pouring out sounds like this.

  • Well said!! I highly agree with you. There are a lot of Koto pieces out there like this one and for some reason they haven't gotten a lot of exposure. This is what the Koto world was like around the 1930's and 40's. This is "Tegoto" by Michio miyagi (1947) and it's phenomenal. This is the same guy who modified the Koto to what we now call the "juishichigen" or the 17-stringed base koto to give the koto a wider range of tanalities. He is considered the father of modern Koto music.

  • This piece of music is actually fascinating. Both "violent and beautiful"as 21FingerGod put it. As a Japan-lover I just cant' wait for another post!

  • That was absolutely sublime. I am a guzheng player, So I couldn't dare attempt such a violent, but beautiful, piece. I envy you greatly, Miss! This makes me miss my days with the koto in Elementary school. I just wish they were'nt so expensive D:

  • Wow! This is most interesting, I never thought of this piece as violent but I guess that's an interesting way of looking at it. Would I use this for background music for a car chase perhaps... or even for a horse rider galloping at high speed....

  • lol, I did not mean Violent in the sense of actual Violence. I mean it to mean played harshly, and strong.

The Song is Violently, as opposed to a peacefully, which would be delicate plucking and a moderate tempo.

    It's wonderful :D

  • I did definitely understand it as played rough and vibrantly but still... happy listening...

  • That was really marvelous. Hope you will post more of your performances.

  • Thanks.
