King of the Hill is just a better cartoon than the simpsons. All though it took a while, the characters do age, there are running gags in the show, and each episode serves a purpose other than to simply be funny. Besides, Cotton actually got old and died, which is something alot of similar cartoons won't do.

Exactly, that's the thing, people expect every comedy to be laugh out loud funny, but not all of them aim for that. KotH tries to bring out the humor in every day situations, it isn't a series of jokes. A show like family guy just tries to be funny, it does aim to have a compelling story or meaningful characters-- it only aims to make you laugh. Not everyone wants to just laugh, a meaningful story is always nice somewhere in the mix.

Did you know that conan obrian used to write for the simpsons, while david x cohen was a simpsons writer untill futurama? Certain employees worked for disney while doing the simpsons (simultaniously) and others did the critic and the simpsons at the same time. I'm sure if i did some minor digging i'd see similar circumstances for KotH and other shows aswell.

King of the Hill is a thousand times better than the Simpsons. KotH has been consistantly good and the Simpsons has sucked balls since the late 90's. I guess KotH is more appealing to intelligent people who can appreciate dynamic characters rather than the one-sided portrayals of characters in shows like Simpsons and Family Guy though.

KotH's characters are not one-dimensional at all. Take Cotton for example, he is an antagonist in every single way except the way he treats bobby and his son GH-- yet bobby is everything that he antagonizes Hank for supposedly being. We see a character with both good and bad, a character we can love to hate and somehow miss when he is gone. Peggy is another one who shows both good and bad, as does Hank and all the main characters. Each has a very human blend of good and bad.
