I agree that the down quark is more massive then the up quark. Now how can I read up on this for my self.

To find this stuff out yourself is easy but I put it in a new light (any chart lists teh energy (which is the mass) so I have a problem with letting letters represent the quark so I at least draw it bigger in my tables see "Standard Model" that's the periodic table of high energy particle physics... tO READ IT? 'History of the Universe" is a chart also, Energy and Force (will reaveal mass so don't search mass) Let me know it's impossible to get the good info most books spend half going over the old history. You truly know what you are doing! I wish I had you for a teacher, I would have understood this in elementary school for God's Sake! When it comes down to it, it's just numbers! Adding, Subtracting, even just the basics can tell you! I would have been a lot smarter if 9 out of 10 of my teachers knew English, and/or weren't idiots who just got out of being like daycare school teachers who don't know a damn thing! Amen! Thanks! What I've found about gravity is that weird misnomer 'spin'...teh example I use is the e- and the positron (e+) come together...both have mass (due to spin) adn then anihilate adn become so called 'pure energy so then the resulting photon is considered 'massless'...I was one htat barel passed by the sympathy of hte instructors...

i do have a question about all the particles that make up an atom, there is a bunch of them, i cant remember them all, with there anti particles and such, but i was wondering, do each of these particles play a different part in the physics we see and feel, for instance, is it only gravitons that create the gravitational force or do all these particles have a gravitational force?

I just read your question...It may not be that partricles play different parts, it's that they need unique surroundings to reveal themselves (certain energies etc.) the FORCES are what are trying to be unified--- if you're really interested let me know and I'll tell you the simple thing about ALL matter and forece (light is made from an electron with mass to light with no mass think about that one! I wsa hte only one in class that said wait a minute adn then they all left scratching their head!

Everytiem I get a comment email I get a twinge in my stomach "Uh OH! Somebody caught one of my mistakes!" So good to hear that somebody gets it! I found if the kids draw it they get it so draw it in the sand or a napkin...but the classroom is NOT the place to learn science (I wsa nice for 15 years now I have to say it like it is, "We are giving out brightest minds (children) tothe stupidest people (common teachers..'Chalk Monkeys')...Thanks!

man if only i had u as a teacher, someone who knows what there talking about, it would make things a heck of alot easier. these stupid teachers make kids memorize until there brains explode, if u just explain how things actually work it minimizes memorization and life just gets easier.
