  • playing minecraft on that would be interesting : P It would feel so right.

  • is there some french website that give you a tut on this? if you have it can you post the link, thanks for the help

  • @gamer54541 There wasn't anything I followed in detail with this build... I learned a lot about modding in general from YT and other forums, but for this project I was just kind of figuring it out as I went along.

  • The person who disliked couldn't build it.

  • What did you use for a power supply?

  • @BrickTomFilms nvm I see that it was built in the mobo, thats cool

  • @BrickTomFilms Yeah, that feature was one of the deciding factors with that board. If I went with a different MB, I would have bought a picoPSU.

  • Why would anyone 'dislike' this??

  • I'm going to build one, execpt I ran into a problem.....The motherboard I can use won't come out of the case!!!!! I saw the board was attached by a brass screw holder thing. I can't figure out how to take it out. Help!!

  • @CameronsTech001 That sounds odd... so it's an existing PC that you're pulling parts out of? What kind of PC/motherboard is it?

  • @drumboog It's an eMachines T1120 (PC)

  • @CameronsTech001 I'm not sure how much I can help... I'm not too familiar with eMachines. May take a call to tech support if the manual doesn't help much.

  • How much did the whole thing cost u

  • got that board for a home server, great board

  • how much does this board cost?

  • newegg has it for 185... ZOTAC IONITX-A-U.

  • @drumboog newegg has it for $154.99 with rebate right now :D

  • great video man!

it would be great to use it without the fan, do you think a fanless built will affect the atom processor?

  • Thanks for the comment... you could probably use an atom processor without a fan, but I read reviews that said my model ran a little hot when fanless... the dual-core may have an affect on that. If noise wasn't such a big a deal to me on this build, I definately would have at least gone with a smaller fan to free up a little space.

  • @drumboog

Hi, could you try some Wii / Gamecube / Dreamcast-emulators ? Cause I'm going to do the same.. just polishing my old paint for spraying it new (black matt will it be)...

And are those power supplys always with the mainboard or are they sold without one, too ? That's great, so that we don't need to insert a big phat and expensive and over-sized (350w will never be reached) supplies... ;)

    Kind regards from Germany

  • Any normal emulators would work fine. You can also get kits to convert the old NES controller into a usb controller to complete the emulator if you wanted... they may be available for the other controllers as well.

The motherboard that I used came with the PSU included, but you can also get a picoPSU to use with other motherboards. They are really tiny PSUs that use an external brick like a laptop (my motherboard also came with one of these).

  • @drumboog

Hmm, sounds interesting. Don't know exactly, but could you test some games and other emulators that need stronger hardware ? Just to compare!

Would be very cool.. And except that, I have to mention that I just seem to get nowhere this mainboard with the PSU INCLUDED!!! They are all sold without.. but I need one =( Hmm.

But to me it's important to see what you can actually make with those dualcore atoms! Cause I don't want to build another PC the next 4-12 months!

  • I'm not much of a gamer, so I'm not sure how it would handle newer games... I don't want to install programs or emulators that I'm not going to use. I can tell you that I've had problems viewing Bluray movies. I can play DVDs without any problems, but Blurays are choppy at best. I'm not 100% sure why, but I think it's a problem with the CPU.

I got the motherboard from newegg, and it looks like they still have some here in the US. It is a ZOTAC... model # IONITX-A-U.

  • @drumboog

Ahh, darn.=( Noone wants to try out games / emulators.

Come on, you don't install an emulator - you download it (legally) and insert and back up your WII / Gamecube / other console game and then play it on this little piece of hardware.

If it's possible, of course. If not, I wouldn't go that far and buy myself this hardware and later it won't even play anything.

But thanks in advance, will see. Maybe I'll buy the intel board which can use seperate cpus up to quadcore!

    Kind regards

  • I can't wait to see this done. Sub'd 5/5

  • Thanks. It should be a fun one.

  • Great vid. 5/5

Are you going to paint the NES case? Looking forward to seeing this completed.

    LazyMan :-)

  • Thanks LazyMan... I think I'll keep the classic look with this one and hold off on painting, but I may try to work in some other accessories to complete the theme.

  • Cool, keep it original

  • Brilliant! Why haven't I thought about that :)
