  • The game was really bad lol

  • they made him much too human i think, should have got someone with a much less expressive voice than ian mack, then again i heard the story on audiobook with full cast so i guess those voices are always going to be in my mind as the ones belonging to the characters

  • Volibear

  • I love this bear, i want to be his demon!

  • so this is where riot copied volibear.

  • Nice!

  • Perfect voice. Loyal to the book.

  • One does not simply walk into Svalbard!

    YOU SHALL NOT PASS!

  • @AngelicSakuko THIS.

  • @dobbyandheaven, did u read the stories? I wud want a deamon but not be connected to it cuz if i die it does too and if its in pain, il feel it too wud u want dat not tryin 2 be rude though just askin!!!!!!

  • @silverheart560 ofcourse I read the books! T,T

  • Iorek is the most manly motherfucker I've ever seen in any book, movie or game.

  • Pan is...adorable! I wish he was more INCLUDED in the book. it seems they kinda left him out! :/ I want a daemon! c:

  • @dobbyandheaven Whaaaat

Did you even read the books?

Pan is basically the only thing keeping Lyra from killing herself, he acts like her conscience and talks about as much as lyra does, and keeps his role intact until the third book in which he's missing with Will's own daemon.

  • @Karimnchok Pan doesn't seem like Lyra's daemon at all. I actually like his personality more than lyra's. Can't you agree they're not the same at all? And nope, he doesn't speak as much as lyra does.

  • @dobbyandheaven Recently have been reading the book and it's been a while since I've seen this movie but even in writing I have to agree with you. Pantalaimon's personality is much better than Lyra's

  • @dobbyandheaven Not far off though.

  • I love Ian Mckellen, he's got such a great voice!

  • I love Ian Mckellen, he's got such a great voice!

  • Only accurately portrayed character in the film

  • they shud make a movie of the subtle knife and amber spyglass

  • is there ever gonna be a golden compass 2 I mean the movie had an open ending, and there are three books aren't there?? Just like eragon it never had a nr 2... it's a bit sad.

  • I love this film and think that it's one of the most overlooked and underrated Fantasy films since 2000 (along with Stardust and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen). Visual effects were decent. Nicole Kidman was stunning and very beautiful villainess. Dakota Blue Richards and Daniel Craig were great too. Hope they'll make a sequel

  • LOREK my idol :D

  • Iorek's my favorite character of the whole series XD

  • i had no idea it was actually pronounced dEmon. i thought it was da-emon or something.

  • Most powerful scene in the entire film - thank you for posting.

  • "Without my Armor I cannot go to War. War is the Sea I Swim in; The Air I Breathe. Without My Armor, I am nothing."

  • Ian's just amazing, I met him a year ago

  • lol lyras actress is good sometimes but really dull at others. lol

  • and look at the Catholic Church, in its entire. I cannot believe that has authority over entertainment und all of what is great in this movie. dark , cold, habitual..catholic church. think think

  • <3 Lorek 's character !!

mmm , who is this author, because correct me , plz, it was a book first??

  • @KristaPrincess Book is much better, its by Philip Pullman and is called Northern Lights

  • The Golden Compass sequel canned // Current

Washington , Jul 19 : Its confirmed now a sequel to the fantasy film The Golden Compass will not be made, due to constant protests from the Catholic Church....

  • Thanks for uploading! I missed this scene in the cinema because the damn fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacuate! >:-(

  • i'm disapointed on how they made iorek's voice and ragnar's voice

  • Well, Pan's not really a 'wuss.' He's in tune with Lyra's emotions and Lyra is most likely intimidated by Iorek. Which makes him seem frightened and apprehensive.

  • lol and technically Lyra's the wuss, since Pan's her soul and all~

  • Iorek is my favorite :D

A great story! Love the movie :D

  • irorek in the film seems different to iorek in the book =/ the film is no where near as good as the book. Read the whole trilogy, its amazing (Y)

  • Who would have thought that the same person who played Gandolf in Lord Of The Rings also voiced Lorek? ^^

  • is t jst me or is pan a wuss

  • In the book, it is Farder Coram who confronts the bear, not Lyra, and the dialogue is different. But I guess it is better this way, a movie that is a replica of a book is boring. It's like having two different versions of the same story. I haven't seen the movie after all.

  • It's a scandal they won't do the 2 sequels just because the vatican puts his veto...

what the heck is going on here?

I thought the times of inquisition are long gone !!--

  • Comment removed

  • lol, really? They made another movie after the DaVinci Code after all, and that's more radically antiChristian than this is by any stretch of the imagination...

I'm kinda against making a sequel for the diametrically opposite reason: I am a diehard fan of the book, and I was really disappointed with how they changed the ending T.T How would they bastardize The Subtle Knife?

  • @59mar The sequels also aren't being made because this movie was a shit representation of the book as all book to movies are

  • um no

  • why not?

  • If you read these books, you will see how far beyond Star Wars this series goes. It's way more advanced.

  • It's Iorek. Not Lorek.

  • but...they're both the same letter - just not capital

  • I can't believe that Iorek's voice was done by the same guy that played Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings. ^^

  • Yes but Ian McKellens voice is the best^^

Imo no ones would be better

  • I Totally agree with that they could not have picked a better person

  • I love Iorek!

  • This is almost the exact context from the book. I love it!

  • Iorek is my favourite character out of the three books written. He is just amazing

  • sounds like cairne bloodhoof

  • Ian Mc Kellen makes a very good voice for him ^^

  • this is to vlmmetjegirl; Iorek isnt a daemon hes just a big white talkin bear

  • I know he isnt i meant to say he could make one cool deamon. I ve seen the movie i know.

  • Aww, Pan's so scared at the end! ^^

  • iorek is a cool daemon.

  • Iorek isn´t a daemon, he´s white bear...=o)

  • jesus christ I know that i used the wrong words

  • He isn't a daemon!

  • OMFG dont u fuckin read comments,

  • the book was so much better than this

  • i never read the book so why re u writting me this?

  • amen to that.

my favorite book of all time <3

  • I wonder who will play will?

  • they have to choose the actor for Will very carefully cause hes such a unic character in the book.

  • Apparently, they're not making a second film because the next two books are too atheist and christian's are complaining... Is this true?

  • Jews were mad when passion came out. Who cares what Christians think.

  • I definitely don't, but it's just a rumour I heard...

  • I'm currently reading the first book, and aside from references to "The church" it hardly seems anti-christian. The other two books might be different. Oh, on a related note, the film follows the book REALLY well.. Much better than I thought it would.

  • I don't care what Christians think either. ^_^ Chris Gorman, YHWH, J. II

  • I too. And I wonder how they make it, because Roger was still alive at the end of movie... And I hope second movie wil be better!

  • i know i was surprised also they said that will make a second movie if the firt one was a succsess it went well worldwide but flopped in the united states so about 1/2 chance they will make subtle knife ok im gonna stop talking now

  • iorek is so awsome. and cute.

  • cute how is he cute he is a polar bear there creepy cool and awsome ya but not so much cute

  • God, Gandolf doing Iorek's voice, whatever next?

  • same centaur xD

  • Iorek is so cute! XD

  • in my head when i was reading the book - i said his name was i rek pronouced exactly that : eye rek but say it like urrek!zaghhhh i can't read the sutle knife because i can't ajust to the new names and peole's persanalities.

  • lol i always said "ee-or-ick"

  • heh me too

  • i thought it was ee ork

  • anyone else noticed the fat lady from "babe" yet?

  • Dakota is good! Cant wait for next one

  • hahaha ye they sound the same :D and the bear is fuckin gandalf xD

  • They ARE the same. Same voice actor. :)

  • calm down. sheesh.

    omg, talk about dramatic.

  • this is so fucked, why did they have to change the name???

  • There call Daemons

  • Cool

    How do they do that

  • those animals are cool

  • omg that cat is too cute

nice animation on all the animals

  • i agree with you... the animation is really cool!

  • Oh Iorek. I think he was by far my favorite character.

  • i always imagined his voice to be different... somehow...

  • now I want to talk to Iorek too...Sir Ian McKellen did an exceptionally amazing job!!

  • I am Ian McKellen's most devoted fan but I do think that this was not the best move; it's took similar to Gandalf, too soon after LOTR and he's too instantly recognisable in a fantasy mentor role. I wish they'd got an unknown instead and stayed with him, preferably a Russian or a Finnish actor.

  • Sir Ian is an exceptional actor and it's awesome that they've picked him as the voice of Iorek, my favorite character in the entire book series. I would've thought that they'd pick someone with a Russian accent, though, because the armored bears are also refered to as panzerbjorn. Either way, Iorek will pwn nubs.

  • ian mckellen has done a great job. even though it was unfair on the initial voice actor to be replaced solely because new line wanted a 'bigger name' to sell the film, i'm pleased because i love the character Iorek and Sir Ian is great in anything!

  • this is great its like exactly what he said in the book almost XD

  • wow this looks like it realy follows the book

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

    soooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!

  • i cant wait:)

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow cool!!!!!!!. Iorek is one of my favourites in the book. I adore polar bears.

Iorek sounds way cool in this clip

  • wooooooooooooooooooow!

  • !!! this is great. i'm relieved to see that dakota does fit the role/have acting skills. i'm so excited!!!

  • Whoa, it was great! :D And it was the first time we got to see the 'Lyra' acting- Now I'm excited! She does fit perfectly with the role, although I gotta admit she sounded a bit slow with the lines.. maybe its because she's not actually seeing the bear? I dunno. Anyways, this was great!! XD

  • I hope this Movies succeeds! And I guess it would be a bit awkward just talking into air.

  • the daemons and the talking polar bears are what makes this movie for me, i mean how cool is it that you have your animal spirit besides you all the time, gosh...i wish they were real, i would have a dragon Daemon

  • Sorry, you get the daemon that you are, not what you want to be. Even Lord Asriel only got a leopard, and he's the most powerful, clever man in the world.

  • Leopards are nice. ^-^ lol.

  • makes sens do dunit wildcats represent power ferocity intergrity n grace

duz any 1 kno wat pan setled as at end of the amber spyglass?

  • niiice! i'm excited for this movie :)
