...Besides, that total act of unconditional love in The Boiling Rock sealed their relationship. I think Mai's a really cool character and she's perfect for Zuko. Just like how Katara's motherly nature perfectly balances out Aang's childish, hyper nature. Same with Sokka and Suki, they balance each other out. :) I know Maiko is one of the most hated couples in Avatar fandom but I happen to think that Maiko is a frikkin awesome couple!!

Well actually I really like Maiko. All you avatar fans out there should know that the series relies heavily on ancient Asian influence, including yin and yang. Basically everything exists in pairs. Water/fire bending. Air/earth bending. Even the two fish at the spirit oasis at the end of book 1 were exact opposites. So if you look at the ships of avatar they balance each other out. Mai is the perfect calm, emotionless tranquilizer to Zuko's anger and fire....

@zimaddiction "Emo" is actually short for emotional... Zuko is very emotional. He has reason to be, of course.

Mai is funny... she's very sarcastic. I guess you just don't like sarcasm...? Ty lee is annoying... and Katara is too. I would never date girls like them if I was a guy.

Mai being with Zuko is a major character development for her... it shows that she's not emotionless and heartless, that she has the capability to love. Don't tell me she didn't love him, she betrayed her best friends.
