Good job sir, and kudos to you for spotting the patterns before McLaughlin "revealed" them himself. Not to be a douche, but may I ask how many bpm you are able to play it at? Also, it would be great if you have the time and desire to make a clip about your right-hand technique, thanks for reading! P.S Excellent playing!
@jokersjef : To be honest I never really checked that out. Good guitar topic fo a video to make a clip with right hand ideas.. I will do that ...thanx for the idea :)
@ StringsOfAnderson...My friend, I admire you. I saw J.M. when I was 14 in 1972...Mahavishnu.And many times after with Paco...Shakti.... I can tell you that you are a man with a passionate and good soul.
I started playing guitar again( it's been 25 years).I hope I'll eventually progress to your level someday. Thank you for the turn on. You're inspiring me. That's what it's about...yes? And there's always a moron or two commenting...hehehe...probably jealous. Be well and thank you !!! .... zivko
I learned so much from that process and even meet John McLaughlin at two occations.
He was not that interested - but very open and helpfull
I saw him perform the concert before that - I think it was in Zürich in 93 - he played it on his jazzguitar and performed some duets with Katia La B.
I tried to set up more concerts w Mediterranean but without any luck. Its actually a piece of work and expensive to play new music with a band containing 75 people
Thanks for all the interest in these exercises. I performed John McLaughlins concerto "The Mediterranean" 14 years ago it is a whole lot faster than these exercises
Theese clips are 10 years old and was just a pattern that I discovered within his playing. He has def influenced a lot of players all over the world.
A good way to work with these exercises is to realise there is a rhythm to them (groups of 4) that can be rearranged in so many ways.
The videoclip is called "John McLaughlin style guitar exercise" - The fact that John McLaughlin actually released a guitar method DVD - and actually included that "riff"
( many years after ) actually made my point.. Dont you think so Sherlock? - I do - hahaha!
The question is :
why do YOU disrespect me and call me a liar ?
I had the first two clips on my old homepage before YOUTUBE etc..before the DVD. Believe it or not!
But a good point is to hold up a newspaper every time I make a videoclip to help documentation. Or erhaps invite 2 or 3 policemen to confirm I´m telling the truth - HAHAHA
Its my nature to be as calm a possible and tell the truth
I just think that you are a funny guy - and the fact that you bought the DVD of John and think that I would lie about my videos tell me more about you that you can imagine.
Do proceed unbelieving - its a way of life and very popular :-)
Hej Henrik ! Ole vil gerne ha sin Thorvald Madsen violinøvebog tilbage .. ( tror jeg nok -det ville han hvertfald for 20 år siden .. haha )spil noget mere Django !
Plays as fast - if not even faster - than most shred guitarists and done so tastefully too. Mclaughlin is awe-inspiring. Great excercise Andersen, thanks.
It´s a Linda Manzer classical guitar - And it is actually for sale
You can se me play a jazztune on the guitar in this video :

Thats OK - I forgive you. We are both musiclovers after all and
both admire John McLaughlin.
Few people create a new sound & style. He did that decades ago. That fact really tell it all.
Hail John... Hail John :-))))))))
Have a nice day. Practise, practise and more practise
