u have to drain all the oil, replace it, change ur spark plugs, let the terminals dry out, maybe a new belt? make sure there is no water in anything that is lubricated, no water in the intakes or carbs either make sure its dried out very good before u start it back up. i donno maybe theres more shit u have to do?

Actually if you're smart, you'd shut it off right before it went under to prevent the water sucking in.

You shut it off to prevent water from forcefully sucking into the cylinders. If the engine is trying to run while water is swishing in the cylinders, the water will wash off the oil that is lubricating the cylinder walls, causing the piston rings to scratch the cylinder walls. It'd be a lot easier to start up again if you shut it down before submerging.

on a two stroke engine the oil/gas mix doesnt "swish" around the engine...it takes a direct route through the engine to lubricate first then ignite in the combustion chamber,water does not compress into a gas like fuel so trying to damages the piston/cylender if it were sill running
