Wild blue says that their Internet is "high speed" yet it takes 5 minutes for a page to load, so I usually just use dial up (sad isn't it). And they put a stupid limit on their Internet so I can't do any online gaming, but that's okay, even if you were using the Internet 24/7 with wild blue, you wouldn't use half of the limit before the cycle is complete, since it's so slow and all
I have the VirginMobile MIFI card and that card is awesome! I even play COD black ops online with the PS3. I get good enouf signal to have my avatars signal strength stay in the orange, which is not bad for a small device that fits in you pocket.
@Taurus702B That "dumb hillbilly" probably doesn't live in an area that is accessible by the cable companies, much like myself. The landscape does not allow for the installation of cable lines in a lot of places. Satellite Internet is all we can get or we are stuck with dial-up. Please tone down the ignorance before your mouth utters something your brain knows nothing about, 'kay?
@velasco581 No see, you gotta look real close at the dish when he does it, the sledge hammer acts as a tension breaking system to unlock the bolts that connect it to the house, then you can point it in whatever direction you need to and then do what crazy88boss said. that way there will be better signal and no FAP. If you don't have a sledge hammer you could always just use a shovel. ;D
@jm2112 see heres the problem with our country. you need a job but theres basiclly exploitation built into the job. you have to lie to the customer, screw the coworkers and steal from the boss all without making yourself look bad. i have known many a homeless person who is both unwilling and unable to do this. otherwise they are normal thoughtfull people. some have managed to find a room to rent nevermind all the many homeless people who are wack jobs for various reasons. im just sayin...
roflmao i feel like doing the same thing to my wild blue dish but not for the same reason my reason is just because its SUCKS its the worst internet u can buy the only reason i have wild blue is because of the band width usage is high if you have an aircard from like verizon u only get a 5GB bandwidth usage and wild blue has a 17GB band width usage
satellites are 2500 miles out there and you are trying to hit them with a small dish. not sure why but I can set up a dish network dish in about 10 minutes and get a great signal every time I feel the internet must not be as good or as powerful .
@1art123 The reason being is the Wildblue system works off of a Ka band which is much narrower than your Ku band that your dish network dish runs off of. Narrow signal = harder to point.
I'm not able to get sattelite off dish network but t I use a verizon aircard which is mobile so I can take it on the road with me the only draw back is like 22imbored says it don't work good for him and I agree that it has it's places it won't work either and they only give you 5 gigs of usage I think my next shot will be still an aircard but unlimited ussage.
I think you are missing a 0 on that figure for the Geostationary satellites (TV, Internet, etc) I just on How Stuff Works: 22,223 Miles - Geostationary Orbits
i have a verizon air card and it sucks.....ass. sure its better than wild blue, but there's a lot of better stuff out there. too bad none of it is available to me.
I had to put in a repeater to get it to work as good as is working now the one good thing is I travel a bit and can take it on the road with me and wild blue you are just stuck. I did have some problems until I put in the repeater just depends on where you are and where the cell tower is good luck.
Dude i know wildblue sucks im locked into this shit for 2 years. I have a horrible usage limit meaning and its runnin at 300kb my dad is paying over $90 a month for 1mb speed. Plus the $150 POLE! plus the rain thing
you can get out of the contract by letting them know that they are not holding up to their end of the bargain you will even be able to sell them the modem back but not the dish, you can find a use for that i'm sure. you will always have those dumb ass people that think they know it all and don't mind ripping off people or being ripped off and will come up with all kinds of stuff, right tmastersat, XohshitztonysbackX networkseast? Air cards Rule and never fail...They can have fun with slow speed
It varys a little I have a verizon one hooked up to a router so I have a hot spot in my house that all of my computers can run off no matter where I'm at. The band width drops a little at night but is normally any where from 1100 kbps to 600 or 700 I take it camping with me and on the road so it can be anywhere not just at my house. it is very small and no wires. needed. they will let you use it to see how it works in your area if not bring it back no questions asked. lots of different ones.
Rain fade is normal everywhere you have a dish so you should know that. Also why is it installed behind some other type of cover no wonder it did not work. bad install.
For sure you know nothing about what your talking about maybe you should look at all the other complaints about they also not just mine. as far as what you in your mind see as a block why would it work then rain and it didn't my air card gets 1100 kbps the dish got at best 300 to 400 on a good day. Rain fade what a joke what good is a system like that? they make great targets for sure and I will shoot any ones dish that wants to send it to me even yours.
Not with my air card and I can go any where I want to with it at 1100 kbps not a may be on a good day of 300 to 400 in rain there is maybe 50 kbps that is not even a good phone line conection Duh is about all you can say.
I also have had wildblue for over a year and have hated every minute!!! When it rains its out!! Mine has a ping of 2800 I'm not a technical person but that means the delay is HUGE!! I now have an air card and EVDO REV A speeds and love it the ping is 120.I have since taken the dish off the wall and plan on running it over!!
I feel the same there are a lot of stupid people out there that think they have all the answers and know that when it rains like the one dumb ass said of course there is rain fade who wants that ? I pay for service my phone line was faster. They do make good targets. I was getting 300 to 400 kbps on a good day and now get 1100 kbps from my air card and can take it where ever I want to go with out a bunch of uneeded wires and an ugly dish hanging on my house. Enjoy your air card it is the way.
I am sorry that you had a bad experience. However, I do not find it necessary to lie. An air card may better serve you, WE - NETWORKSEAST - also offers them - we are NOT WILDBLUE - we are an independent satellite dealer that services Wild Blue and other services - and you probably purchased your system from a MARKETING COMPANY - I have seen and heard many HORROR stories about customers that did not get what they paid for - so we started posting videos of the correct way to install - to help
I got all my information from wildblue not some one else. They were the one that told me that the sattlites were about 2500 miles out in space and could be affected by the weather. They also said that the air card was only having to travel as far as the closest cell tower. That tells me that they are not sold on their own product.. who wants a bunch of stuff hooked up that they have to look at when they can have something that fits in the palm of their hand that works better.
NetworksEast did NOT set that up - We operate in NORTH CAROLINA - We are only pointing out that this is a PROBLEM install - a system installed correctly works correctly
When you read about all the people that have problems you know that this is a big lie. A small air card will get way better service by far. To bad Wild Blue you missed the mark. Don't trust these guys to get you to buy they will tell you what ever they think that you want to hear and that is the TRUTH.....
What are you using now? my air card has almost 4 times the speed that wild blue had on its best day and I can travel with it. the monthly cost is about the same but no dish hanging off my house.
I have century tell. Its a local company kinda. It gets 3x the speed for 40 dollars less a month and no dish. I have had Dish TV go out and my inet still working with centurytell
So how did you upload this?

L0L they told my family it was "high speed" *cough* as much internet as we need to use it stays at 0% and goes like 43.5 mbps (Thumbs Up)!

Okay, so wait, loosen the bolts first and then the sledgehammer? Or does the sledgehammer/satellite pointer double as a nut and bolt breaker?

I used to sell WildBlue over the phone, and in every activation I felt that this would always be the customer's reaction.

It's more likely that you misunderstood someone at WildBlue. No satellite company would ever tell a customer to align the dish themselves.
