POP stands for Post Office Protocol, not needed as you said but it makes sense.

When I try the command prompt thing: "telnet is not recognized as an internal or external commend, operable program or batch file"

@mint301 Go to Control Panel >> Programs&Features >> Turn Windows features on or off >> Telnet Client.... You should find the option to install telnet or switch it on.
(Google is your friend :-D)
Or better still, use a Mac or Linux machine...
