SOMETHING that has bothered me a lot and I am not sure how to word this clearly.
I live in Oregon and the mall I used to go to with my parents (which I stopped for several years) then went back I have noticed the McDonalds was done from the location.
Now after seeing this video the Mcdonalds HERE is gone from the location and I STILL do not know why.
Was it health food violations? If so I am surprised because the Mcdonalds was almost always busy and rarely had no lines.
I haven't been in that mall in probably 10 years, but the last time I was, the Gap sign was still the original one from 1982, with the neon and the old logo. It's kinda sad that they updated it. There was something very unique about seeing that old sign.
First four stores to open in this mall in early '80s ... Karmelkorn, Meis, a baked-potato place, a uniform-supply store ...? I think that's right. I remember walking around with my parents (about about 200 other folks) the first night it opened at all, before the grand opening over that weekend or something. It was so excellent.
i love how people are in kentucky... as soon as you cross the ohio river into indiana people are just different. i sometimes camp in calvert city 20 mins away from paducah!
I see that this video was done 10 months ago. I've been there since December of 2009. I'm surprised nothing was said of this video. It is mall policy there is to be no filming inside the mall. I understand that the mall has a sentimental place in your heart as it does mine. I've played Santa and Easter Bunny since 2003 and have many memories.
@MCP73 That is because the mall is not owned by Simon properties :) Simon properties has a WAR on photography. as a photography rights advocate, i feel the way I was treated here was awesome!! I walked right by security and they did not bother me. Aparantely security KNOWS what a REAL threat is here at KY oaks mall. Not a person with a camera :) anyway, I have SO many memories at this mall. I now live out of state and this visit I made last October was AWESOME!
I remember when I was a kid back in the late 1990s and eearrlly 2000's I think when the McDonalds was there. I miss that old place. My dad would always give me a dollar (basically a ticket for my mom to buy me something) and we'd either go to Toy's R us or KB toys and get legos. My dad also bought our first video game console at the Game Stop (The smaller one, not the one that was EB Game at the start of the video). Got a Nintendo 64 in 1997.
I still go their like once a month MAYBE just because it is the closest one to me but they have closed alot of places lately....last week they shut down some store for women...i think it was that lpace by sears that had all the perfume and stuff but i think that mall may be shutting down in some years to come....Their are rumors of a 2 story mall coming to the southside of Paducah(if u dont live in Paducah you probably didnt understand that) but i hope it eventually gets their!
I miss the days of going to the mall every Saturday, hanging out at Pocket Change, beating all competitors at "Mortal Kombat" II and 3, then going to the Chinese restaurant next door to replenish my strength. I always thought it was cool that, for a while, they had TWO Kay-Bee toy stores and TWO book stores. Great times, great memories. I can't believe it's been so long.
The Mall at Whitney Field has JC Penney, and Sears on opposite ends. The distance between the two is almost 4/10 mile. Looks like the farthest anchors in that mall may be identacal distance.
Looks like a rather small, but quaint mall. Seems to do well, I guess they arent larger malls nearby. Its not a Simon mall. If it was that security guard would've told you to stop filming,LOL
Starbucks right across from Hollister, man that's a dream come true. On my breaks I have to run down 2 flights of escalators and across the mall to get Starbucks where I work. =P
Also, Best Buy is really trying to get a mall presence in the industry now. They put one in last year at my local mall at home.
The here I mean is the here in your video. So from watching this I am concluding it'snot just my mall Mickey D's is gone.
I amvery tired and can no longer type GOod night.

That wasn't a service corridor, that was a no exterior entry fire exit! The reason for that is so that no-one can come back in when there is a fire!
