  • How do get vocal tracks (without the music) to any song? Thanks!

  • @ddppk acapella tracks. often found on singles.

  • we can im musik to that? pls antwort to my question

  • how do you make a track start from the beggining at a specific time? This will help me SOOO much. thanks

  • @GrantBibby audiomulch didn't (still doesn't i would imagine) support triggering samples at bar 1 on command. I used the phase setting to modify where the sample started.

  • @lllatomlll could you explain to me how to use the phase setting to make the samples start when you want. Im getting stated with audiomulch, and you are the best at mashing with this program.

  • @GrantBibby tough to explain as it's sort of a trial and error process. take any sample you have and set the phase at 0. then set the phase at 16 and press play. see the difference? adust the phase value so the sample starts at the first bar and you're good to go. it moves the sample forwards and backwards... you'll usually find that the phase values are in segments of 4/8/16/32/64...etc...

  • Are you getting lucky with timing on the longer samples or is there a way you know when a verse begins?

Another question I had was if you knew if Girl Talk used automation himself or is he just playing the mute buttons the whole night.

I know you get this alot, but how have you been finding all these instrumentals and acapellas. If you could give a site or two for reference, that'd be great, but it's not necessary.

Thanks so much for posting these videos, I've been learning so much.

  • @vans77587 Definitely not getting lucky when it comes to automation. I will configure my loopplayer contraptions so that the verse starts where I want it to. This is controlled by the phase option in the contraption.

Girl talk doesn't use automation live. I don't know if he uses it for his records or anything. Probably not. He just rides the mute button the whole time.

You can get music by searching youtube and google. it's really all that i do!

  • I have quite a lot of questions for you which I hope you could help me out with, but it's no biggie if you can't.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with Audition, but is there a way to cut the loops with a metronome so that I'm sure I'm being very precise, or should I just go with my gut with looping a highlighted section?

Another thing I was wondering is why you preferred having high tempos. Is it so you can mute or unmute in more specific places other than every 4th or 8th bar?

  • @vans77587 I am familiar with Audition. I really wish there was a good version for OSX! You're going to want to just highlight and loop. Use the metronome as an aid if it makes things easier for you. I think its easiest/quickest just to do it by ear.

I explain my reasoning for high tempos in one of my videos. It gives me more of a sliding scale to work with. Using a slower tempo (100-140) actually gives you more time to mute/unmute. Both ways accomplish the same output.

  • Is there a way to record the Automation audio in AudioMulch or am I going to have to download something else.

  • @TheDJ17 Double click on the sound out and it will bring up the recorder..

  • those samples worked awesome!

thanks a lot for all your tutorials buddy, i'm loving this shit

  • quick question: is there a way to cue tracks using automation? i find it frustrating to have to cut each loop a few times so they fit in the right spots when they're un-muted.

    you are the man.

  • What do you mean by tracks? Most likely...but give me some more detail and I can explain better.

You shouldn't have to cut each sample multiple times. Just cut it once, add it to a second loopplayer, and adjust the phase if you need to use it at a different point in the mix.

  • Thanks for the response, I didn't realize how vague my question was until i just re-read it.

Anyways, what I meant to ask was how to delay when a loop starts so it matches up with the other loops. I was using two loops that both sounded fine on their own, they just weren't matching. I just saw your other tutorial where you showed how to use Phase, I'll try that. Thanks man.

  • Phase is the answer to what you are trying to do. You can move value this up/down and have your sample start at any given moment. It's often used when samples do not start on the downbeat.

  • Thank you for another excellent tutorial

  • Nice work!

How I can get songs to mash and sound right?

Currently I am trying to mix vocals (not rap) with music. I thought I could get two songs in the same key, and then mash them. This doesn't work because the songs are different tempos, so when they stretch to match up they end up out of key.

Have you heard of the camelot system and harmonic mixing? Tried any of that stuff? Is it worth trying it while doing this or is it easier not to bother and just try trial and error?

    Thank you.

  • is there anyway to mute backround noise e.g. im trying to make a mashup but the vocals has piano in the backround can i get rid of it please get back to me thanks !!!!!!!

  • You would probably want to take care of this within the source wav file in your wav editing application. I know many applications have built in "plugins" of sorts that take care of this. I don't think they work very well, though! I do not know how to accomplish this...I try to stick to studio acapellas/instrumentals as much as possible. Sorry man

  • ok thnxs for ya help man you made create me dream just made my first song so thanks for everything ps ill find some acapellas and instramentals

  • This is just rad as hell. Thanks so much for making it so simple. I will probably not sleep tonight and do this instead. Best of luck in your music!!

  • Very, very handy.

Two questions. Firstly, can you fade the volume in and out instead of just muting on and off.

And secondly, can you do this type of mixing in fruity loops? There are so many products on the market and I don't really know what to use. Is FL better for creating the actual samples?

  • To my knowledge I don't know of a way to automate or control the fading of a sample. If there is I'm not sure how to. You can set up a gain control and do it on the fly? Or create your sample with the fade out in the first place.

As far as fruity loops goes I have no idea. I've used it for ~20 minutes or so. I think it's a pretty sweet program but I don't know if I would use it for this...

  • You mean match the BPM, right?

If so you could download the free Acid from Sony, then beat match your samples with that.

They'd have to be fairly small samples though.

Or you could buy the Music Studio 7.0 and use it's beat mapper.

It's about 40 bucks on sale I think.

  • I don't match any BPM at any point. AM does it all for me by having the stretch checkbox marked off. It plays all your samples at the same BPM.

  • Do you have any tips for finding Hip Hop Acapellas that match up with the rest of the music you want? I can't automate tempo with audacity for the life of me and then when I load them into AudioMulch it never matches up.

  • It's not so much a matter of finding the acapellas that match up..it's all about cutting the acapella correctly. I'm not sure what you mean by automating the tempo in Audacity...I don't think that is necessary? PM me...I'll get you squared away.

  • I've watched all your tutorials and really appreciate the help. The AudioMulch Handbook just doesn't give enough info. And the tutorials on their blog rarely update. Thanks so much for these!

  • In automation is there any way to start a sample from the beginning at a specific time?

  • Definitely. If you increase/decrease the phase in the loopplayer contraption that will alter where the sample will start from. Don't be surprised if you have to set this to a high number for the sample to start from the beginning.

  • thanks alot man really appreciate it
