"you lead the strongest ship of the federation fleet. you speak for your people." Notice how the borg didn't bother saying that to picard until they had forcibly taken him off his own ship. So this is obviously an attempt to placate the great Kirk, who they know to be 10x more badass.
@mrteemumilto Eh,it's already too late. I mean look at J.J. Abrams and his "Enterprise"(pun totally intended.) At least this guy has an interesting idea.
@brownblair98 No, the original is better than neither of these. Even you get it wrong. It had nothing to do with ship-to-ship combat. That wasn't the point.
I preferred the original special effects, and I'm not referring to the Borg vessel. I mean the awesome 60s Enterprise! You can't "re-master" an utter masterpiece--try re-mastering the Mona Lisa...
I was half expecting Kirk to turn to one of the pretty yeoman girls and say, "I've shown you mine, now you need to show me yours..." as he was walking shirtless through the packed corridors of the Enterprise.
@robota833 on a similar note, both the original Enterprise and the D use the same weapons; phasers - in this scenario, Kirk just introduced them to the Borg 80 years earlier. That's 80 years less worth of adaptation. That would leave a mark.
@SabishiiRomanchikku Go watch Q Who. It wouldn't be that improbable with how The Borg were initially conceived. (The Enterprise D blew a hole into a cube and made two more craters on its surface) I think, before encountering the D the borg were actually not that impressive. It was only once they had analyzed and adapted to Fed tech that they became so impressively devastating. (Beyond just scooping crap up off planets.)
If Kirk met the borg, I'm sure that he would make love with Seven Of Nine and then - with some logical suggestion from Spock - he would destroy the whole collective! :)
@neroodio - In a space battle however, the Enterprise 1701 would be annihilated. Not even 40 ships fighting together against a single Borg Cube a century later lasted very long. The entire force was wiped out at Wolf 359, and of the forty in First Contact, only one was salvagable and that was the Defiant, which was designed to fight the Borg I think.
Actually, in the the battle of Wolf 359 there was one surviving ship out of the original forty and in First Contact (battle of sector 001) there were around 60 ships and about 30 of them were destroyed.
@zetatrain - Federation needs to build better ships. Being peaceful shouldn't equate to having crappy ships. Then again, the Borg are really just that deadly.
@Sparrow9612 Hmmm... I thought the Defiant came about because of Wolf 359. Sisko survived that battle, and it left such an impression on him that he helped develop the Defiant class to be the complete ass kicker it would later become.
@terrywest111 - In First Contact, the Defiant took damage enough to where most of the crew were dead and the ship had to be evacuated. Good ship, but still not quite good enough.
@Sparrow9612 True, but if you watched the episode where Sisko introduces the Defiant, you would know that the Defiant was to be the first of a fleet of defiant-class ships, therefore it was designed to operate against the Borg with support from other, same-class ships
You should have used the line where they said Death Is erelivent. And the line from Q Who where they said we have analised your defensive capabilities and if you resist you will be punished.
@MrImastinker, Kirk was before Picard, that you should know. and @jtkirkfan2002, the captain of a ship has no direct influence over how powerful the weapons are. in other words, even if all the deities of every religion in the galaxy were commanding the Enterprise, the phasers would still be as powerful, so it still doesnt make sense, your argument is invalid
@kev3d No, her best accomplishment is that she got them home. "Pseudo-marxist bureaucrat"? The only kind of people who use language like that are people too far to the right to accept the greatness of Star Trek. This is where we need the Picard-Riker double facepalm.
@UncleMikeNJ Did I say pseudo-marxist bureaucrat? Forgive me, I should have said sanctimonious, holo-addicted, do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do, pseudo-marxist bureaucrat.

@Idazmi7 Well I did say that I know that the Borg were never in the original Star Trek series and I know that Q was the one who showed the Borg to the Federation but you have got to admit it would be awsome if the Borg were in the sequal if J. J. Abrams finds a way and a reason, nabby the Borg travel back in time and meet Kirk and his crew or Kirk and his crew travel in time to the future and meet the Borg, What do you think?
@JackWProductions Hmm... I'd prefer a story involving TOS style klingons, eg. the smart, inventive, misunderstood warriors who had equal tech to the Enterprise due to an arms race. Perhaps the new Enterprise project has the Klingons thinking that the Federation intends to ust the new ship as a warship to invade the Empire, and the Klingons strike first...
@JackWProductions The Borg were in the original series. But Kirk beat them so easily it couldn't fill an episode. So they skipped to another adventure.
this is fake because when the tractor beam shoots for the first time, the space with the trctr beam is sarker than the space around the enterprise. also there were lost of
One glaring plot hole from ST: Generations - The El-Aurians were called refugees, ST: TNG established that they were attacked and almost wiped out by the Borg, but the Federation in Kirk's time never asked what made them refugees?
I never understood why the federation never employed good old fashioned projectile weapons (current day weapons) against the Borg. If they can't adapt to it, then a high caliber automatic rifle seems like an excellent weapon to use against Borg "troops".
@Battle5tarRJC I have never seen a Borg force field stop a bullet, or any projectile. Picard killed two with a holographic automatic rifle. Melee weapons would be a good choice too. Worf killed a drone with a knife, and Janeway killed one with a Bat'leth, I believe it was. Much better choices than weapons that become completely ineffective after a few shots.
Kirk would destroy the collective with circular logic. It would be something like "You...claim... to be superior, you claim...we will service you. Yet...if...you...assimilate us then you...impoveus! Therefore...you...are....servicing US!"
@fjccommish "and HOW.... would... assimilating WEAKER beings... improve the collective? If We... are... inferior, why... must you take US?!? Your-logic-is-FLAWED!!!"
Borg: Adaptation will become avalible in appoximately 79 Earth year's time. At that time, the Collective will assimilate members of the Human species. Sub-note: No earlier attempts to assimilate humanity will be made.
As fun as this video is to watch, the Borg probably would have beamed aboard, but after meeting Kirk they'd just abandon the ship, scared they finally met another human as badass as Picard.
Kirk doesn't hold back, unlike the wusses of the 24th century. He assessed the threat and realized the cube had to be destroyed, and did it. In Q Who, had Picard not let up, he might have taken the Borg cube out before it could adapt.
@walmartpimp2 AHAHA very funny but no thank you! That shit new movie that they called star trek (they should of called it ipad) was full of the damn shit and it made it even worst to watch.
Bah, the Borg don't need to fear Kirk... they have The Sisco to worry about... they blew up his ship so he made one specifically designed to kill Borg... why do you think we didn't see Sisco when the Borg attacked Earth? Cuz Sisco was off doing something else lol
"you lead the strongest ship of the federation fleet. you speak for your people." Notice how the borg didn't bother saying that to picard until they had forcibly taken him off his own ship. So this is obviously an attempt to placate the great Kirk, who they know to be 10x more badass.

@Matticus333 the word is "corbomite". If you're going to use TOS terms, use them correctly

Bah, the Borg don't need to fear Kirk... they have The Sisco to worry about... they blew up his ship so he made one specifically designed to kill Borg... why do you think we didn't see Sisco when the Borg attacked Earth? Cuz Sisco was off doing something else lol
