I knew Peter back at school, and these reporters didn't know what they're talking about. They make it obvious asking the questions they did, they really think he didn't know whether or not he was putting himself at risk? He died doing what he loved, better that then anything else. The media needs to stop, sure they're trying to protect future losses, but have people with experience to broadcast something of this nature. I KNOW he knew the risk from prior injuries I SAW and they weren't minor.
More kids die playing baseball...Than racing motorcycles...and thats ratio of participants to deaths...Not just numbers.
No, they don't understand the risk...But, if the kids want to, and their parents are fine with it...I don't see why you'd hold back a kid(Especially one like Peter...He had so much natural talent, he probably would have been racing in the GP at 20 years old). The fact is...To enjoy your fleshly life...You have to take a risk every now and then. Pray for his family.
R.I.P PETER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but honestly "do they fully understand the risk?" forreal if noone can take risk oops there goes racing , gymnastics, cheerleading, hockey, football & almost everysport!!!!
I agree this is a sport that should not be open for kids in their early teens. They may have all the talent and coordination ....but ....due to their age and lack of strength and mental choices just makes it to much a deficiency to allow participation.
i agree it is a load of bollocks and i think that it doesn't matter about age i am 15 and have been racing motocross for ages i love the sport not just off road but also on road i think it is a crap thing to happen to anyone but it is one of the risks of motor-sport. rip

No it doesn't... it RAISES the question. Begging the question is ENTIRELY different and you look like an idiot when you confuse them.
"...how young is too young?"
A question to which you will NEVER understand the answer. I used to race snowboards and can say for sure that almost nobody outside can understand the 1st thing about racing.
"Do they really full understand the risk...?"
Racing is so obviously dangerous that NOBODY gets into it in ignorance.
You shouldn't make comments like this if you don't understand the sport. His experience with motorcycle racing is limited to highlights of Peter on the grid and various photos of his career. The races continued because no one knew he was killed at that time and racers race it helps the drivers/riders and fans deal with the tragedy, helps the healing process, and honors the fallen. Peter Lenz would have wanted the races to go on
there have been 2 deaths in motorsports this year for children thats like almost the most overal in a year in baseball there is like over 30 deaths a year on avarage
You can't keep them in a box forever. Stepping out of your front door is even a risk today. People need to leave it alone.

was there a flagman in that corner? and if they weren't ready the officials probaly wouldn't have let them on the track in the first place
