Dennis Chambers is debatably one of the best livings drummer out there, if not the best, IMO, and I think Tony has the potential to be as good or better. But almost exclusively due to the obvious fact that Chambers has years and years musical experience on him, he far outstrips him, and most likely will for a long time.

Great solos all around.and to answer the question dennis asked,it was a double stroke roll into a single stroke roll broken up between tony's right foot and right hand.Very inspired ideas but one of my favorite parts(OTHER than the laugh that dennis let out)was when he subdivided the time up at 6:50 and the look on his face when tony went to change up.I believe the response was to the effect of"no no" stay in regular time.that was a classic case of "dennis being dennis".solid playing from both.

Different style. Different influence. Different era. Different mindsets. But in the end, these two amazing drummers found a common ground. We have to aknowledge that evolution is a gift given to the youth. I assume that Tony is about half the age of Dennis. He might have also started younger to play. Anyways... music is totally something great, assuming that if can unite the most different people into one action, and it's never for war. Music is the thing I know for sure that affects us all.

One drummer is not better than the other, they play in two very different styles. Tony is a poly rhythm drummer. Chambers is a jazz rhythm drummer.

If anyone knows dennis chambers, then you know he is a very humble dude, even back when tony was 12 he let him steal the show on another video that they recorded together, but true drummers know that dennis chambers is capable of DESTROYING TONY, on the the drums! Dennis shows here that any idea can be thrown at him no matter how hard and he will take it and throw it upside down. Demonstrated marvelously at 6:50, now some people may have thought that he 'stuffed up' or whatever here but hes actually playing out a technique called metric modulation. In fact the reason he said 'no!' to Tony was to alert him not to change style, grooving in another dimension!

This clip is great for several reasons.The chops they throw at each other are incredible but what I like is how they feed off of each other.The single stroke roll stuff as well as the bass drum work.My FAVORITE part of this is the timekeeping aspect of it all.that all the chops they played were in time.killin video.

Dennis was definitely laying back more in this jam. I think this program was more oriented around featuring Tony, so he didn't use so many crazy chops and let Tony do the majority of crazy ridiculous stupidities that we all wish we could play, although at 5:48 he has that moment where his soloing says "I'm Dennis and you're no. Deal with it."

its nice to see tony staying true to the groove, alot more so then he usualy shows in sessions with other players. I think he knows well enough when your in a room with dennis chambers, you follow HIS lead haha.

Both great players, nice to see some of dennis' teachings have rubbed of on tony, theres deffinatly major signs of his own idividual style there, but how can any fail NOT to be influenced by chambers xD

I can see why someone would think that Tony will become better than Dennis is someday....but for now I have to go with the big guy..he just has that calmness and effortless motion down to a science. When he does get going he still looks like the licks he plays are simple. Tony on the other hand, while he too is great, he still hasn't mastered his own licks and fills....you'll know he has when he has the Dennis demenor when he plays. Easy and effortless. I do like the animation of Tony's style.

i must say Tony does not have the expirience Dennis has yet. What I mean is that Dennis seems to do his fills effortless...while Tony looks as if he pushing something from his bottom. However both of these guys are ranked very high on the top 25 list of the best drummers in the world and deservingly so. I just see why Dennis is Tony's idle. And they both are two of mines.
