Dude, how can you EVEN get this kind of video, like how do you even acquire this video in the first place?? And the video quality is great!! Thanks for the upload.
Even only considering music, we owe a great debt to the British. Ron Grainer's Main & End Title music for 'The Prisoner,' Laurie Johnson's for 'The Avengers' and Edwin Astley's for 'Danger Man' (let's leave Johnny Rivers & the re-titled 'Secret Agent' theme song out of this...) are ALL exceptional.
Then there is Sir Edward Elgar, the Grand Old Man of British Romantic Music. (John Williams processional at the end of 'Star Wars: A New Hope,' among other scores, was directly influenced by Elgar.)
Yes, this is a great theme - see the two rejected themes, also on Youtube for comparison, this one conveyed a sense of the surreal. The theme is so important for setting the tone of a series. Other great themes in my opinion were those for The High Chapparal, The Men From Shiloh, Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, The Time Tunnel, and Father Brown. In more recent times I love the themes for the British series, Doc Martin, Bleak House and Little Dorrit, all also on Youtube.
Agreed; also from U.S. T.V. can be added, of course, Bernard Herrmann's extraordinary Main & End Titles to the [original] "Twilight Zone," along with the later (and better-known) music by the Romanian-born French composer Marius Constant. Also, Fred Steiner's music to "Perry Mason" (originally entitled 'Park Avenue Beat' - though the location was L.A.). Also the Main & End Titles to "The Outer Limits," "Science Fiction Theatre," "The Wild, Wild West," "Bonanza," "Dragnet" & others.
I should add that there was another theme I particularly liked, that of "Barnaby Jones". It always seemed to me to have a melancholic flavour? It's said, however, that the composer himself, Jerry Goldsmith was not happy with it.
magnificent ending cadence
