Thank you for your comments on Shintaro, i am glad you guys also enjoyed the documentary and yup when Shiintaro got stressed out he took a bath! LOL And his iconic washingbasket hat, a classic!
Hey to any Australians who views this clip in the next couple of days, SBS out here are having a documentary on Shintaro, at 8 30 pm on the Wensday 4th of November.
Will be looking at that one *L*
8drama queen
I hope he wears his washing basket on his head again in the documtarny LOL
These not-so-hidden Ninjas are running down the street and this event became the First Annual Ninja Tokyo Marathon ever! Due to the lack of further commercial sponsorship it was discontinued after the first trial.
Did you know that the actor had more fans in Australia than anywhere else. He came out to Australia and was surprised at how many people went to the airport to greet him. I think it was as many as the amount that turned up to see the Beatles when they arrived. He had no idea about how popular he was until he got off the palne. I used to watch it on TV as a kid. He did 12 stage shows in Australia before returning to Japan.
Welll I really do not know. IF you think yours is correct you can post it here and everyone willl know *(S*
As far as I am concerned, this clip may be the only one left standing. Youtube are decimating all my other video clips here iwthout having the courtesy of notifying me. All that will be left is silent movies. and all voiewers will leave.
Thank you for you comments, regarding the copies of this, maybe some one who reads these post may make a comment or where to get them *S* I got mine from a video rental storre, someone bought the set a while ago I will find out and post back here in couple of weeks
Likewise, I used to watch this program on Saturday mornings as a kid. Loved it. Thanks for putting this on - just to hear the theme and the opening was great.
nice to see after 40 years, as a kid we had it good and TV like this was ever so entertaining, along with the other shows from that era 1960s etc, just brilliant and so so clean and simple AH, what ever fuckin happened...
Thank you for your comment, Yup them was the days, what we have now is what we call progress........still its great to get fragments of this stuff on Youtube and paytv when it is eh!
The Japanes Superhero you remember is Star Man. He was sent to earth in times of need by starfish like creatures and he had a cool wrist watch with a map of the world on it which detected radiation and danger. So bad it was great! Deadly Ernest and Creature Feature were staples in my childhood too. I saw Shintaro at the Sydney Stadium in '67. It was magic.
Hi Jagerfaust, Keep those Samuri cards they would be worth a fortune! *L* Out here we used to watch the deadly Ernest show on the 10 network with the Japanese B Grade horror movies in the late 60's and 70's, the dont make them like that anymore eh! I dont think I have heard of Mysterio, check the net out or the Youtube you never know someone may have heard of the show! Cheers Drama Queenie
Do you remember one Japanese show called "Starman" that took the cake for stupidness hahahaha. Think channel seven used to put them on at midday, Saturdays.
Yes I remember STARMAN, used to be on fairly late on a saturday morning. Also there was another version of the samurai. It's opening was on a beach with shintaro fighting ninja's. Different bloke to this one though.
I used to watch this show when I was about 10yrs old. It was funny. Then there was a even more dumb TV show called "Phantom Agents" They used to say all the time "Always use pistol, last resort" hahahaha :)
What great tv viewing it would be if they bought back Division 4 and the Phantom Agents and B Grade Japanese horror films from the 60s, all we have now is SBS! Bah Humbug !LMOA
Don't you think Quentin Tarintino must have seen this show in preparation for making the first "Kill Bill" movie? Or do you think there was plenty of other Japanese material like this in movies etc. that Tarintino could have been inspired by?
thank you guys for your comments on the Shintaro clip. *S* It was a great zoom home tv show to watch after school for sure *L*
Jstewart50, I have never seen Kill Bill but it is interesting about what you said about Tarintino being inspired by shintaro *S*
I put this clip up because, well I originally am a Champions Fan, and we spoke of this Show Shintaro, and I specifically discussed how great the near no at all special effects they had in it *L*
Also how they rewound the film so the ninjas could jump out of trees and use star knives LOL.
The reason why I put this clipup is too, show case how Shintaro could walk around with a washing bssket on top of his head and couldnt see barely where he was going and the guy at the end running off with his costume caught up his pants LMOA The Dub in voices it was just a classic like the Phantom Agents! LMOA
I don't know. I've lived in the U.S. for 40 years, and I don't believe it was ever shown here. I was going to order it on DVD from Australia, but I was never sure if Australian DVDs would play on U.S. DVD players.
Sharman, and jstewart what show on DVD were you referrng to? Can I say this much, Australian DVDS were PAL and still are,I think they are called region 4 now, and they may not work on US DVD players because the USA system is NTSC and is region 2 I think which is incompatable with Pal System DVDS,region 4 if you want to order from Australia a DVD you need a region free DVD player, they are comparitavely cheap now days
Shintaro was the coolest samurai ever seen on Aussie TV. What were the guys in black called again - was it Kooga-ninjas? I seem to recall there were another set of ninjas on Shintaro's side, guys who dressed in white and got killed a lot. The best episode I remember was where the two sides went to war, with Shintaro leading the good guys. What a great show this was; nothing like it on TV these days, amirite?
Hey Guppy Whisperere and Edwarfor your comments on this, I originally put this up a year ago thinking Shintaro was stupid wearing a washing basket over his head and the other ninja running with his pants showing and the trick camera shots
Wow, I remember running off the school bus and upstairs to watch this on TV when my family lived in the Philippines. I'd pretty much given up on ever seeing it again. Thanks youtube and thanks 8dramaqueen.

This program was a huge hit on Channel 9 Sydney (Australia) in the mid 1960s - long before multiculturalism, when we still thought we were an outpost of Britain. And Channel 9 was commercial, where dubbed programs generally weren't viewed well.
The opening theme music! Triggered from the deths of my memory! Wow!
I recall crying when some kindly old man in one episode died at the end. (I was about 8 years old at the time.) First time that TV moved me to tears.
That was interesting Lysurgis you informed us stuff I cant even remember on this! Have you heard of the Phantom Agents? I would love to find out more on that.
Hi 8dramaqueen. Re The Phantom Agents, there is a very good fan page on this topic -essential reading! - on the Alphalink server under 60s Anime - a Google search will locate it (YouTube wont let me post it).
