for me, the most amazing thing about this soundtrack is the simple 5 note pattern that has the power to bring tears to your eyes :') . If you listen you'll know exactly what i'm talking about. Its the main theme and it just appears in all the most poigant parts of the film. I love this soundtrack so much!! :D

Domestic Experiences sounds a helluva lot like Newman's composition for Road to Perdition. If you follow his career, he really returns to the well a lot.

I just watched this film yesterday for the first time; the soundtrack was amazing, the performances of these young women during the time is absolutely fantastic. I was blown away by Kirsten Dunst especially, what comedic timing and sass!

Bawled my eyes out when Bess died and at the end!

Under the Umbrella is the song that I am having my four bridesmaids walk down the aisle to...Perfect in length for each of them...First time I heard it I knew it had to be in my wedding...It is an amazing beutiful piece of music and I think it will make each of them feel wonderful!!!

This movie is on my top three list of all time favorite movies! i watched it once when i was around 10 or so and completely forgot about it. i'm 18 now and just watched it again a couple months ago...i had forgotten how beautiful it is! and the music...oh! i am so glad you put this up! i'm looking up some of the songs right now so i can get them on my ipod. the music is just so beautiful! it deserved the academy award nominee!

According to the notes-Thomas Newman. According to the notes it was nominated for an Oscar-I don't know who won that year but this music was Oscar worthy-by far. :)

I looked it up. The Oscar for Best Musical Score in 1994 went to Hans Zimmer for "The Lion King". Thomas Newmann was competing against himself as well as other composers-he was nominated for his scores to "Little Women" as well as "The Shawnkshank Redemption". A truly gifted composer (well-all the Oscar nominees were-I love the soundtrack to Forrest Gump (also nominated), and The Lion King as well. :)
