Dramedybabe, I read an article the other day about child slavery in the U.S., not neccessarily sexual in nature (but possibly so, as well), it estimated 10,000 children right here in our own country, are being held as domestic (household) slaves. My question is: When I hear outrage from people almost daily about a form of slavery which ended over 140 years ago, why is there no outrage about this form, which exists today? Food for thought.
There is no point in having a war on drugs, neither should drug rehab clinics exist, as drugs are illegal in the first place and therefore ought not exist - so no money should be spent on them in any way :)
There are laws against holding people against their will. The problem is enforcement. A lot of these scumbags get away because nobody decent comes forward to report them to the police.
I agree though; the "war" on drugs is a joke. And the only way to stop people from doing drugs is to eliminate their need to escape from pain.
We should also quit the war against prostitution. Like drugs, it only forces the activity underground where it becomes more routine to break other laws. We should focus our efforts less on saving us from ourselves and focus more on saving us from others.
There won't be a war on human trafficking when women being sexual victims is the result. When I was living in Vegas, a sex slave ring was busted, but the women didn't want to press charges because they were too scared they'd be deported.
I totally agree with you that the War on Drugs is misspent when there are other, far more violent crimes that aren't addressed as much as needed.
With the Collapse of the Soviet Union, .. Russian Woman became stricken by poverty and then were exploited in the sex trade. Will the fate happen to AMERICAN Woman ? .. Collapse of Empire .. then .. vulnerable and desperate ... woman ripe for exploitation.
there is a war on drugs because drugs enable you to expand your consciousness.

Because all the clients are upscale businessmen and "family oriented" politicians. So they focus on drugs and not on human trafficking.

Governments control drugs. If it keeps prisoners from rioting, then it will also keep the population sedated.
Btw..I'm in love with you..for your mind!
