  • no,i dint see any bubbles on the gas purifier jar. I think that the cleaner that i have used is not working. it has only 10% of HCL in it. i want to know that how much percentage of sodium hydroxide there in Mr.Muscle drain cleaner.REPLY

  • i did same as u did but i used harpic cleaner it contains hydrochloric acid.Is there a limit for adding water.i can't see bubble in the small jar what i have did.pls help me.....................................................

  • @Annamalai7space hmm, i think it should work, start with small amount of everything and then go up from there. Also you must have the bubbles go through a second bottle with water, or it will be steam and stuff in the gas, and the balloon will not fly,, Make sure you wear safety goggles and are in a safe place etc.. I have never tried with harpic cleaner myself..

  • @ggenntii no you don't need gas, this make gas, hydrogen gas

  • that was the rubber burning

  • the hindenberg

  • i just wanted to say "well done" on an excellent video. keep up the good work

  • can't you just use hydrocloric acid?

  • @saygamen1 Yes, hydrocloric acid and magnesium would work great, however it is harder to get hold of, at least where i live. Sodium hydroxide (Mr Muscle drain cleaner) can be bought in any grocery store..

  • @petleh82 only problem - how/where to make sodium hydroxide

  • @robi4never From store, it is marketed as drain cleaning,,,

  • And you need mr muscle

  • Tie a long fuse to it, light the fuse and let it go, soon it will explode high up in the sky

  • @rathat48 Tried that with a sparkler, it didn't explode just burned.. For a good bang, i think i must mix air and hydrogen in the ballon... :-)

  • @petleh82 Do electrolysis, then you have oxygen and hydrogen, a perfect explosive mix. Though O2 is slightly heavier than air, i'm thinking the hydrogen is light enough to counter act it, though also, it might not be light enough to lift the weight of a fuse. you would have to mess around with the right mix.

  • @rathat48 I have tried electrolysis, but it is very very slow. Would take more then a day to fill a balloon or a very expensive setup and lots of power..

  • good science project just hope some kid dont try it and not make holes in the jar there gonna have a face full of glass

  • Would the hydrogen molicules be small enough to escape the balloon fairly quickly?

  • @FlyMario2 A latex balloon like the ones in the video would have a flight time of about 6 to 8 hours depending on size. It is called diffusion when the gas escapes through the material of the balloon. This is why helium balloons that you buy for children use to be made out of metal foil, the gas will still escape but slower :-)

  • now i can make a fpv blimp ;)

  • @satellite98 And name it Hindenburg :-) I wounder if a beachball would work, they would be possible to refill when the gas starting to go low..

  • At the moment i think the optimal mix of aluminium and sodium hydroxide is 1 part aluminium and 4,45 part sodium hydroxide, the amount of water is not critical. This is my understanding at the moment... it might change,,,
