Anyways, I realized after the spraying that I was spraying pure vinegar at him. My Dad uses it to clean up the dog's crap or something. I've always hated it. The fly at this point disappears because I looked away realizing it was vinegar. I look all over the counter, the window ledge, the blinds, nothing. 5 minutes pass and I reach for the first dish to wash and he FALLS ON MY HEAD, bounces, hits the floor, writhing in pain. I was so shit baked! I ended it though.
He was attacking me violently after each time I sprayed him with febreeze. I honestly felt bad, I questioned if this was a sign from God or something!? Hahaha, I was losing it. I told myself, maybe it's a test, but in any case I stopped, paused, then proceeded to the laundry room for a spray bottle of water. This was it. I spray him at least 7 times, as he's hiding to survive. I felt horrible at this point but he was really pissing me off. Oh my.
I just had a war with a house fly. I literal war. Battlefield, loaded guns, everything. It honestly may as well have been. Here I am bringing down dishes, over the stairs I go, immediately there's a silhouette of light from the stairs on the wall, I figure I see a month so I go to the kitchen. He comes at my head. The size of a quarter, what a house fly. He buzzes into me again. Lands on the wall 3 times, I spray him with Febreeze, he has trouble near the end and flys to my blinds in the window
Hey i'd really like your permission to use around 1 or 2 secods of this video for the opening credits for a film i'm making. If thats ok please let me know. Thanks.
As has already been pointed out, this is not a housefly, it is a flesh fly. Houseflies are smaller, less robust-looking and have different coloration.
*voice of the moustache guy from family guy*-"hey there.. i can see you got your camera ready.. dont mind me... i wont fly away.. ill just be suckin on this here sugar right here.. i love sugar.. cuz im a fly you know.."
I am thinking of buying this lens and also the DCR 150. The camera I have is a Nikon P80. Is the universal adaptor that comes with the lenses good enough, or do you have to get camera specific adaptors ? It seems to be more expensive to buy kits that are aimed at particular cameras. I am not sure what I should go for
@mohamadalikazi Thanks for the comment. I agree SuperMacro mode in this camera is great, but it doesn't work for small insects as they get scared once you get so close. WIth this macro lense, I can be at around 6 inch distance from them.
unless you have a high performance telephoto for nikon or canon etc. one can actually get better results from a high zoom point and shoot consumer camera with a raynox 250. Reason mainly is because the cheaper point and shoots have smaller apertures at equivalent f stops. Works out in the favor of people with cheaper cameras :)

Hey, congratulation for this vid.
But maybe you can enhance it, if you use Deshaker and virtual dub.
Both are freeware, and it is great to stabilize the clip after recording.
Greetings - all the best!

this camera doesnt even need a lens... just turn it into SuperMacro mode and the closer you get to something, the clearer it becomes!!!! its awesome.

How did you get this depth ? My Raynox has about 1 mm to work with... It's kind of difficult to get sharp pictures. Is this cropped or something ?
FatGermanBastard 2 years ago
My aperture was set to f8. Smaller the aperture, bigger the DOF you get. This housefly wasn't big either, max 3 mm width I suppose.

Probably the earliest flyswatters were nothing more than some sort of striking surface attached to the end of a long stick.

This was shot using Canon S3 IS camera and Raynox DCR-250 macro lens.

Very nice. Do you think the macro was essential? The S3 focuses down to 'touching the lens' right?
Anyway, still very original and creative.
MoytoyMovies 4 years ago
Yes it was. I know S3 focuses down to 0 cm, but macro lens is used to get the magnification. The fly won't sit there if I take my s3 that close ;)
