First time I've heard this Slade version of the classic Christmas tune and I'm impressed. They stayed true to the original while also staying true to themselves at the same time, a class act. I'll raise a glass to them. :-)
Thank you for posting this ACDCfan. Like many, I never knew of Slade's version- and its easily the best take I've heard of this song. Somebody has got to get a campaign going for this for Christmas Top of the Pops 2011. Yet another example of why Slade is the most underrated rock band of all-time.
@bigmagic96 They had something on Geldoff, if you listen to DO You Believe In Miracles the meantion a man called ''the mouth'' thats Geldoff. I dont know what they were split about but it was something. But Ive actually seen a recording of the Band Aid crew with Jim Lea on bass miming the song on a tv show
It is/was only officially available on the Crackers VINYL album, due to copyright issues, hence why it's not on the cd. But, ALL royalties from the slade version went to the Band Aid charity.
download link pls!!

Great meaty version. Anyone know why Slade didn't appear at Band Aid?

I just bought Crackers on Itunes--there are two versions with the same tracks, one is cheaper.
Is Noddy the lead vocals on this song?
crecrecords 1 year ago
@crecrecords Yes but Jim sings: ''Well to night thank god its them, instead of you''
and it sounds like theres chorus on major parts of the song
