It is comedy because Catherine, being ginger, can get away with the parody. There is also prejudice toward Indians (wogs), the Polish, and the Americans. i think being ginger is more accepted in america then it is in Britain. There seems to be a long standing tradition that being ginger is bad. Pretty much any bodily feature that isn't common, eg. big nose, wonky teeth, really bad spots. is going to get pointed out and mocked. I'm ginger and when people shout stuff at me, it gives me a good opportunity to take the piss back, bearing in mind i have lots of time to think of good comebacks, where as the offender only has a few seconds.
