  • Good, I like that you share this video, I wish success always is the basis for the most ambitious theories of the physical world

  • Wow, Leonard Susskind !

The field of D- brane dynamics may no longer be in its infancy, it may be passing a turbulent adolescence time. Let us hope it will arrive at a successful and productive mature life.

  • Ha ha, now I`ve see all 10 of them :-D

As Lenny Susskind says, You can call me g55 LOL

Many happy thanks for this GREAT course

  • This is such a privilege. Fight tooth and nail to keep these lectures on youtube. This is a type of video that is all too rare.

  • thanks for sharing

  • thanks for the lecture..nice one!

  • I think I already watched this video. Might be a duplicate..Or I guess just a continuation..

  • Thanks. I couldn't stop watching!

  • I think it's important to note that, like quantum mechanics, NOBODY truly understands it. As Feynman once explained, we know how to DO quantum mechanics, and we know how to DO string theory, and that's all very well and perhaps these little strings really are the fundamental particles of our universe, but even so that doesn't change the fact all those important "why" questions completely elude us and perhaps always will. String theory being correct has much fewer implications than people assume.

  • Thanks for posting !

  • Course Ended Thank you Standford and Mr Susskind!

  • @luzzie9

Theres a big difference between explaining the very basics and explaining what motivates string theory as a physical model. And be sure, the motivations for it are very significant. If theorizing about what happens near the Planck scale sounds dubious, then just stick with standard quantum field theory. String theory exists to answer ambitious questions, and they will be ambitious no matter what theory is proposed to answer them.

  • Viewer 1889......interesting theory, but when he gets to strings winding on it begins to resemble Fantasy Island. They may as well claim that there are small people living on these compact dimensions and there would be no way to disprove it.

  • @luzzie9 I don't think you'll like hearing this but to get to the point where you understand the motivation for string theory, you'll need a graduate level understanding of math and basic physics, and yes, also a bit of imagination.

  • Viewer 1070 here.

    I hung on every word.

    Hoping for a lecture 11!

  • was that the final lecture?

  • up to lecture 10. Viewer 1032

  • I'm viewer 762 :) still hanging in there Professor

  • haha only 14% of people who watched lecture 1 made it to lecture 10.

  • thank you so much for this course
