  • what kind of editing softwar do you recommend with this camera? you mention quite of few them like Vegas studio P.E, and vegas movie. Can you use Vegas Pro 9 with this? According to the panasonic tutorial you can transfer 24p to the vegas pro 9 with relatively ease,

  • @TheNickolivas Vegas video takes the AVCHD format with no issues.. you just need a beefy computer if shooting at 1080p.

    I use Vegas Pro 10..

  • Damn that looked really good man

  • @nick1303444 It was still a bit off that day... I have now the HD 4000 which is much quicker to setup, with memory plate.

  • I think you darkened the footage too much.

  • @uncutfilm

It was on porpuse.. High contrast

    Thanx for watching

  • @girotube I know but, if you are going for that high contrast look you would need to do less lighting and not to bring all the black levels down in post. For example if you watch a film in a theatre, it wouldn't look as dark and saturated. You could watch more movies, i think they will inspire you. Other than that, I think you are very creative when using Vegas :)

  • @uncutfilm

"You could watch more movies, i think they will inspire you." MmmH! Thats kind of Haughty to say :)

    About this video test:

    1 This is not a job video footage. ( Its a GlideCam-HMC150 test )

2 The video has an Overlay-color boost on porpuse. ( because I wanted to see how the end result looks like. Some want it, some don't )

3 The glidecam test was a hit for my first test.

4 I was able to trouble shoot an issue with the cheap Vegas I had on my laptop in that test.

  • @uncutfilm

Actually 300 Has some crazy extreme high contrast in post.. Looks very dark in the theatre too.

Like I said This was all on porpuse.

And other part of this test was that I also like high shutter speed shooting for a choppy video look, and I did Hard Panning test. Crisp frames.

I think you overlooked many things and focused only on the overlay on this video. You should have known this.

As soon you overlay an image, the colors are boosted and deeper blacks. No need to lecture.

  • @prammaven

Actually buddy the preset i used was 1080p - 23.97 pulldown.. and the video was shot at 24fps - 720p So I did some crazy hack with the cheap Vegas Studio PE 9 program I had in my laptop that day... only had 25p and 1080p .. SO I up reandered to 1080p ..the end result was cleam frames... With the full Vegas pro I have no more issues..

Call me a Jedi master hehehe

    Take care..!

  • @girotube

Hey girotube, thank you for the comments. I just purchased the HMC150 and also ordered the Vegas Studio HD Version 9. Now, keep in mind that I am EXTREMELY novice at this. I want to make sure I understand what you're saying. So, I have a couple of questions:

    1. Does the software I ordered allow the files from the camera or do I have to convert it to something?

    2. Are you saying it won't handle HD files?

  • @Parrott65

Vegas reads AVCHD. but you may want to convert to a more easy on your CPU format like HDV. If you have a nice 64bit system you'll be fine.

Yes it handles HD! The Problem I had was that the Vegas Studio P.E. 9 on my laptop that day did not have the 24p.. Only 25p.. If you are not shooting at 24frames per second, you are fine with the lite version of Vegas.

Vegas Movie Studio HD has very limited functions. go Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 Production Suite. Come with DVD tutor.

  • Hey that looks very good!!! How did you get rid of the echo-ghost in sony vegas? I'm having the same problem!!!

  • You need to match your video with your project. When I did that video I had the Vegas Studio9 PE on my laptop and only had 25p preset and my video was 24p So I did a 3-2 pulldown 23.97 on the sucker..

Also the shutter speed on this video is very fast for very sharp frames.. it gives a choppy look but on DVD looks great and I like the hype choopy look. But its annoying here on YT. Very hi res HD videos play with too much jetter-stutter..

  • 24FPS seems to be the general consensus towards getting the "cinema" look... But aside from that and the glidecam, you have something else going on that is really sealing the deal towards what I see in movies AND music videos!!! I'm a newbie, are you using some type of filter in this footage or just simply what you mentioned on the right??? Don't have the camera yet but making plans... Thanks in advance!!!

  • I'm not using filters on the lens! the camera iris is wide open and locked. The camera does have ND filters set to 1/4

    ND: Nutral Density filters

Also what I did was an overlay to give a strong color contrast and deep blacks. 2 video tracks one on top of the other. The top one is set to overlay..

FIlm it is important to lock your exposure. and use ND filters.

    Hope this helps

  • I was also shooting at a high shutter speed of 120, 48 is fine.. shutter speed of 48 translate better at 24 frame rate.
