Omgoodness thats so insane! I'm sorry you had to go through so much crap!! But very glad you and your fam made it through safely :) Thank you for sharing your story with us!
Thank you for sharing your story! I feel like EVERYONE should watch the movie The Business of Being Born. This may not have anything to do with your story but I feel compelled to tell people to watch this, especially if they are pregnant or planning for a baby.
You're a wimp. lol I've had 2 natural deliveries, one catheter without numbing and I actually KNEW what would/could go on during delivery because I educated myself. Take a class next time, toughen up and expect the unexpected. Please tell me you're at least breastfeeding?!
Omg i Knew u were talking about Preeclampsia since the Begining of your videoo ! I had preeclampsia with 3 of my pregnancie Im so glad you and you baby are fine...
They let your husband stay in during epi? They made mom and bf leave the room I didn't want one but after 7hrs needed it. Than they're like ok you guys leave I was like what
They sent me home braxton hicks all through night kept me up I was like ok we need to go in now in morning(had ultrasound scheduled that day to make sure fluids were enough) went in and was in labor, was. Such a pain they sent me home like 24hrs ago makes u feel ridiculous going back. Labor was 12hrs they turned alarms off when babys beat dropped and my bp went up cuz cord around his neck. Got to 10cm and my water still wasn't broken. Horrible hospital and I went 45min away for that better hospit
Ok...i dont even understand why they would risk you have seizures or a stroke with putting that needle in your back! Thats just insane! Also, you didnt have to get a catheter...they could have given you a bed pan. Your doctor sucked! With that said, glad that you made it through such a crazy event! And Yay for your baby girl! :)
@kirahopes haha i dont feel like my dr. sucked at all. I actually prefered the cathater when it was all said and done. and removing the shot was the risky part... not putting it in, thats why we could only do it once because they couldnt take it out to try again. :) also it wasnt my dr's choice to do the first try with the epi. it was the anestesiologist... :) it all tured out okay in the end... there was just some bumps along the way. :)
I asked my aunt what child birth feels like and She said it feels like someone is cutting you with a knife, then I asked my cousin and She said it feels like someone is hitting you really really really hard with a hammer on your lower back and then i watch this video, then i read the comments..yeahhh adoption sounds great...
i have a 9 month baby girl. I did a natural labor as well. i had my little girl on her due date. I went into the hospital at 8cm because i finally couldnt take the pain anymore at home. when i went in nurses were in shock that i didnt deliver at home. but i had a very easy labor, except for the vomiting part. they admited me to the delivery room & a hr later popped my water & made me turn over to my left cause she wasnt in the cannel & once i did that it was pushing time. i delivered in 22 min.
I know what you mean on the whole "plan" thing. All of us women that are in our childbearing years have this set plan in our heads. Your story really helped me out with a lot of fears I have always had about the birthing process. You poor girl, I am sorry you had to deal with that!
I had preeclampsia too on my 39th week so my doctor decidec to induce my labor. I was on labor for 38 HOURS!! and pushed for 4 hours. They also had to poke me in the back twice because the first epidural shot didnt work. I can still feel the pain. The second epidural shot didnt work as well so i was literally in so much pain when i gave birth to my little boy which is now 7 months old. The whole process of giving birth is the most painful experience i have ever endured but definitely worth it!
My baby was due Aug 30th and I changed my mind last min. I asked for the epidural and the anesthesiologist was busy doing an emergency C section. so I ended up doing it naturally. It was SO intense (4-6cm 1hr and 6-10 in the second hour). Recovery was just horrible, I was throwing up and sick as well and then I went sent to the hospital for hemorrhaging.. ugh! I thought I was going to die.. Kudos to us strong mamas :D And my baby can't nurse cause of her frenulum :(
You are so strong.... would you have been able to get a c-section if any complications occured? That is so scary to know that many unpredictable things can happen during labor. My plan would never be to have a natural birth either, I am so scare something like that would happen to me too.
God I feel sorry for you - just stress upon stress! The only thing I've heard that is worse than this is my mom's Italian-American friend who gave birth to her first child in a Sardinian hospital without ANY drugs and they had to do that horrible cutting thing to get the baby out WITH NO ANAESTHETIC. She passed out from the pain.
So sry to hear both my boys were premature so I know were your coming from my last pregnancy was bad the labor was horrible and my baby was born sick he was actually in the nicu for about 3weeks worst experience ever for some reason i just cant stay pregnant the full 9months idk if it's because my body is just a tiny frame but he'll be a year next month and healthy as can be thank god congrats on your new bundle of joy they grow up super fast girl so enjoy every second my oldest is five and it
Thanks for sharing this with us, Cara :) I just want to send you a huge HUG for having to go through such a traumatic birth. I also had one with my daughter and it took me ages to get over the trauma because no one else really acknowledged it. You were very brave and with time you will come to terms with it. Congratulations on your beautiful little girl xxx
aww im so happy you are breast feeding i did for both my kids its so much better for them and i had preeclampsia with my first labor its suckedi was in labor for 3 days but my second child labor and delivery took 3 hours tops congrats momma
My first born I had preeclampsia and low platelet count and pushed for three hours but what you went through is amazing! With that being said...congratulation!
Omg, ur labor story is like a horror story. U must be rlly strong to pull through all of that. I just saw the pics where alaina has her eyes open, and she is SO cute.
Alaina is so Gorgeous Carah! I had saw the first blog post and she was beautiful then of course! but seeing her with her eyes open wow! She looks so much like you!! so gorgeous! =) Congratulations again Carah <3
Hey Carah! I listened to your story from the beginning to end. I just have to say that this was like the worst labor story I have ever heard! I'm glad that you and your daughter made it through the storm together!! I agree when you say that it's good to make labor plans but don't rely on it. I have 2 kids and never had labour without an epidural b4 so I never had to experience that pain. Just contractions. All you ladies who had labour w/o an epidural, you guys are strong.
congratulations carah but oh my god this was like the worst horror story of all time! I cannot believe you had to go through all that and i hope that everything goes fine from now on. You really must be a strong person. im sure the doctor meant it when he said you did so fine. Well it must have been worth it for your baby girl and i just wish good health to you and your family!
Congrats! It was painful hearing you talk about it, but it's all worth it. My mom told me never to get an epidural if I ever have to give birth because she gets back pains from time to time now from where her epidural shot was.
Cooooongrats carah & travis!!!! :) this vid def made me tear, both from the happy ending & me being emo @ 5 weeks right now. Lol. Im glad u both r ok & doing well. Best wishes!
wow. what an ordeal. i had an unmedicated labor by choice but i wish that providers would provide more education regarding pain management options not working and preparing women if something actually goes wrong. i think less would go wrong if there was more preparation for all options. almost nothing went according to my birth plan either but i ended up being ok with it!
Oh Sweetheart you poor thing. I can tell u are disappointed a little. It's horrible to have a bad birth (I've had two and it was so horrible) it's hard to enjoy baby when something like that happens, especially when in ur mind it's supposed to be a really happy time. It's really good for you to share this to other soon to be Mums sometimes things don't go according to pan. Anyway Congratulations and hope you heal quickly and Bubby too pray you guys get to start to enjoy Alaina. Xoxo
Ok I didn't fast forward at all I feel horrible for u I almost cryed I had the perfect labor n felt nothing n couldn't imagine all that I know it's all worth it now bec u have tour baby girl but u didn't deserve all that atleast it's over now n being a mommy begins you will do great n get through all the obstacles because your so sweet n a good person keep your head up girl!!
I didn´t have much milk, so I had to pump it till I have what my baby needed, and it like an hour to do it, and she ate like every 3 hours soo i TOTALLY understand what you went on breast feeding, but believe me that in no time she will be asking her bottle by herself and the crazy days are left behind, be patience. BTW i love your make up videos they have help me a lot! :D
I didn't think I'd EVER do natural birth and I had to with my 2nd baby because she came too quick. I almost gave birth to her in the car on the way over to the hospital. Ha! I love the saying that if you want to give God a good laugh, tell Him your plans. Ha! It's sooooo true. "Planning" your birth is silly, unless you're induced, which I did with my 3rd baby and that birth was a dream. Don't let your traumatic experience stop you from having more babies because each birth is never the same.
I gave birth all naturally no drugs at all. That was my choice. It was very painful but very worth it to me. I'm 24 weeks pregnant now with my second and I hope I can do it all natural again.
Im glad your doing good now. I had to have a c-section at 36weeks because I had pre eclampsia. But after I had my baby. I felt fine I didn't get sick from the magnesia and had very little bleeding. So besides having to have an emergency c-section which I didn't want to have AT ALL things turned out for the better now my little girls 18mths, strong and healthy.:)
Omg I'm so glad you came through all that safe and healthy. Thanks for sharing your pregnancy and delivery story so honestly to us. There's all this stuff you never think about or know about, but you have been very informative :) Best of luck to you and baby.
lol congratulations...aint it funny how thing pan out aint it..with labour and delivery!! i planned ALL natural, NO drugs etc...i ended up labouring for 30hours and only dialated 5cms, my son ws wedged to the side and wouldnt 'engage' than my after 30hrs my contractions slowed down dramtically, by than i was exhausted!! They had to give me drugs to increase contractions and than i decided to have the epidual, the drugs didnt work nd his heart rate dropped to i had to have an emergency c-sect lol
Congrats on your baby girl! I had quadruplets that were born 8 weeks early, and I also had to have the MAG due to preeclampsia. UGH. That stuff is horrible!
Loved this video!Very nice to hear another Mommys experience.I had my 1st naturally no medicine whatsoever. With my 2nd pregnancy with my twins I had to have a emergancy c-section:( I am so sorry your 1st labor was so hard on you honey! God bless your heart! Magniusm is awful!!!! In the end though it is all worth! She is going to be the best gift you have ever been given!
Okay so I feel kinda bad for laughing a little while watching the video but I couldn't help it.. your facial expressions are priceless lol. But congratulations! :D and good luck! (: ♥
If you had it in your mind that natural birth is NATURAL and that as women we can do it, then your mind set about not having an epidural with have been at a more positive less fearful place. Mind over matter I guess is what I mean. I think you should be so proud of yourself for having a natural birth and maybe if you ever have another one, it won't be nearly as scary, b/c you have already done it naturally.
I hear so many horror stories about giving birth, where are all the good stories!lol. I would have been such a mess if that was me though Carah, you've done amazingly! CONGRATULTIONSSSS!! Its one of those things that you can tell little Alaina when she's older, she'll prob be like 'pfft, i bet it wasnt that bad mum' :p lol, now all thats over you can enjoy bring her up! Yay!
Good luck for the breast feeding, I hope that it works out for you soon. Thankyou for sharing your experience with us and congrats on your lovely baby!!
I had a completely natural birth, it wasn't that bad. We are all capable of doing it. It is how our bodies are built. Women just need to believe in themselves.
Thanks for taking the time to tell us about your delivery. I'm so glad everything worked out perfectly in the end and now you have a beautiful little girl! Kids are Amazing!!!
Congrats Carah! I had preeclampsia too but I had symptoms so they knew, and I made it to 39 weeks. Anyways, if you're still having trouble with Alaina's temperature the best way is to strip her and yourself (or hubby) and lay under blankets, skin to skin. This has been proven to be more effective than hats/swaddle/etc but most hospitals don't do it. It also helps establish good breastfeeding!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm so sorry the birth was so horrific for you! But so glad Alaina turned out beautifully!! She will be so grateful one day to have such a strong mommy!! Congratulations again!!
OMG, you have been through so much! I'm so sorry to hear it was so hard. But I'm also so happy for you and your beautiful daughter! Who could've known you would have to go through something so incredibly difficult to have something so incredibly amazing? Congratulations again to you and your husband. :)
Damn, girl!! You better wear this horror story like the badge of honor that it is!!! You did wonderful, and so did Travis. And i promise you the horror will fade with time, and you will want another little one in a couple years time. Every woman does it...claims it was so painful after their first birth that they'll never do it again, but time seems to fade that fear and they always have another.
@SugarNova1 ooooooh. so kinda like an iv where its laying flat? i know nothing about child birth because my sister and i were adopted and vie never had a kid! im still a kid! haha (well 18)
@innleysa26 I have no idea how the doctors make it so you can lay on your back but I had an epidural and I could lay down on my back. Your just not supposed to rub your back on the bed or move too fast.
I hope you are doing good... I promise things will become easier <3 The epidural hurt me too! My daughter is almost 3 and it feels like yesterday <3 Do you plan to have more kids? My daughter was very easy going too... now she's a trouble maker!
Wow Carah, that is one crazy story! When Alaina is older you can tell her how insane her birth was lol So if you have other kids are you going to have preclampsia again? I had never heard of that condition before. Glad you're both doing well, can't wait to see her, from the photos she looks so beautiful! Congrats.
OMG! Thank God ur baby is fine n ur fine too!! Congrats!! U r a lucky woman!! Strong u r!! I am so happy for u n ur husband!! Both of u r gorgeous!! :-) thank you very much for shring ur experience w/ us! It means a lot :-)
oh wow that's some story! You have been through so much :(! You are such a strong woman! I really admire you! & Alaina looks so beautiful & precious! Congrats to you & Travis :)! X
Skin to skin contact will keep her temp up. So take your shirt off, hold her, put like two blankets on her bath and just sit with her :) it was on greys anatomy the other day lmao.
Pre-eclampsia is not fun, I developed it at about 30 weeks and was in an out of the hospital, the birth was not so good as my sons heart started dropping but luckily he was born safe and sound and now he's five. I could only use gas and air due to not being able to have anything out. As soon as my waters broke it took less than an hour. Congrats on the birth of your daughter, you sounded so brave :-) I bet your husband was soooo proud of you x
WELCOME TO MOMMY HOOD!!!wow ur labor was eventfull, but the most important thing is that Alaina and you are doing well!Congrats cara, to ur hubby & you two are the cutest & are going to be such fun loving and awesome parents!!!When i started dialting i was like 'I NEED A EPIDURAL",LOL and then oh wow felt so much better and my hubby told my i pushed almost 45 mins(pretty close to you)but to me it felt like 2 hrs, lol! My daughter is 7 now & <3 her so much!CARA SO HAPPY FOR YOU,GOD BLESS UR FAMILY!
My husband and I have decided to start a family. :D I was wondering if you have any advice for us? Would you consider making a video of tips and pointers on starting a family? Hope all is well! Love watching your videos!
@Laceygirl9824 i know this question wasnt for me but the only advice i can give you is to start as healthy as possibly.. get your vitamins and eat well.. be open minded and the best yoga lol is funny but i had my son completely natural and it was induced labor and it dint hur at all i think it is because of the yoga.. hope it helps just prepare your self in mind, health , spiritual what ever you need to fell ready.. good luck
@MegaDamarys thank you so much for replying! I have started to eat healthier, I have also stopped drinking coffee, and my husband and I are now starting to go on daily walks. Thanks again for replying.
Wow Carah!!..I can't beleive you had such a crazy experience. I was very lucky I was able to have an epidural, it felt like a pinch but didnt really hurt that bad. You should feel like superwoman! Now that you've had a natural birth..you can do anything ! Day by day it will get easier.Congratulations to you and Travis!
do you have any hospital videos we could see? congrats on a healthy beautiful baby girl and you will be a great mom. my best wishes and prayers go out to you and your growing family<3(:
Yeah I didn't feel it actually happen thank God, but I was in pain for weeks. My mom had to stay with us for 5 weeks! I couldn't stand up on my own for a while bc it hurt so bad.
i just went to your blog(like i do every time i watch a video of yours....and baby alaina is SOOOO CUTE!!! congrats carah...she was totally worth it!!! :) <3
Bummer. It cut my comment off. I was saying that my epidural had worn off so I felt everything :-/... The things we go through to bring our joys into the world! :) Congrats again!
You poor thing! I had to be on magnesium too and it sucked! It made me so sick too. My mom said I was literally green. Plus I was so thirsty and they wouldn't let me drink bc they were actually trying to stop my labor bc my twins tried to come too early so I was in the hospital for a week and finally they delayed my labor. They ended up coming two weeks labor. With my first pregnancy with my son I was in labor for 31 hrs and pushed for 2 1/2 hrs and broke my tailbone while he was coming out. My

You really must be a strong person. im sure the doctor meant it when he said you did so fine. Well it must have been worth it for your baby girl and i just wish good health to you and your family!

Congrats! It was painful hearing you talk about it, but it's all worth it. My mom told me never to get an epidural if I ever have to give birth because she gets back pains from time to time now from where her epidural shot was.

wow. what an ordeal. i had an unmedicated labor by choice but i wish that providers would provide more education regarding pain management options not working and preparing women if something actually goes wrong. i think less would go wrong if there was more preparation for all options. almost nothing went according to my birth plan either but i ended up being ok with it!

Xoxo

They had to give me drugs to increase contractions and than i decided to have the epidual, the drugs didnt work nd his heart rate dropped to i had to have an emergency c-sect lol

Kids are Amazing!!!
misssandycandy 6 months ago
Congrats Carah! I had preeclampsia too but I had symptoms so they knew, and I made it to 39 weeks. Anyways, if you're still having trouble with Alaina's temperature the best way is to strip her and yourself (or hubby) and lay under blankets, skin to skin. This has been proven to be more effective than hats/swaddle/etc but most hospitals don't do it. It also helps establish good breastfeeding!
raquelmacuil1980 6 months ago
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm so sorry the birth was so horrific for you! But so glad Alaina turned out beautifully!! She will be so grateful one day to have such a strong mommy!! Congratulations again!!

@innleysa26 They tape it flat to your back with LOTS of tape.

@innleysa26 I have no idea how the doctors make it so you can lay on your back but I had an epidural and I could lay down on my back. Your just not supposed to rub your back on the bed or move too fast.

My
