I haven't seen drum corps in a few years and this show is really great, the drum and brass books are hot. Horn line is carring GE scores with body movement and playing. But i have to agree with knotty101, the guard is not innovative enough and doesn't sell the show. 1993 Star of Indiana guard combined modern dance, body shaping with abstract use of props and equipment handling. This show needed more that spinning and tossing from the auxillary...do they still call it that?

This show makes WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more sense then blue devils and it show's the strength of the corps not individuals.

First, let me say that I firmly believe this show to be one of the greatest in history.

Secondly, the reason Crown lost at Finals is directly about their guard. The writing of the routine and its execution. It is a guard issue. The Devils guard was beyond belief, and they won that show for their corps. Crown's guard was in, what, 6th or something overall? So those of us looking for a reason, there it is. I am this show's biggest fan, but recognize the weak writing of the guard routine.

I thought they took a big hit visual ind. as well. If they were visually cleaner and their guard was up to snuff the gold woulda been theirs and we coulda had two 99 pointers on our hands.

The announcer messed up the announcement he was supposed to say "CAROLINA CROWN" at 1:56 where we stopped playing for those six counts. I don't remember that happening

Middle of the show (starting @ 3:30 in this video) completed this show... simply stunning! They should have won!

For me, this was the championship show. Anyone can play simpler music and do it sitting in chairs rather than actually marching and when they're not sitting chairs, they're just wandering around with them while the percussion does all the work. Crown was robbed!

it's so amazing how so many people feal the same way for crown. This show made my top 3 in the history of dci. Blue Devils show was over and done with, and it just didn't have the wow and crowd response as crown. Like last year(08) phantom won why because the audience pushed them. Same thing happened for crown, but Blue devils was "hungry" for the title. BD's show was good but not good enough to beat this show. Crown was definatly robbed

BD was cleaner than us. We got the crowd's love and proved we have the best brass :)

carolina crown was amazing 2009, i think the judges were right. 2nd or 1st (imo)

i dont want to see people complain about some corp that should have been placed higher when the place they got was them being thrown a bone. *cough*cadets*cough*

don't even talk. the cadets were incredible this year. if it weren't for an unfortunate percussion score on finals night, they would have beaten crown. not taking away from crown's placement at all (i think they should have won), but cadets were great as well.

If Holy Name's battery hadn't dropped 2 points, they would have been within a half point of BD on finals night. Not blaming one section of the corps for them getting third place... just stating the facts.

i don't know. they weren't perfect. the cadets and crown lines were cleaner. i've marched corps for a while and they just werent as clean as the judges places them. don't get me wrong they were good but not 19.9

Okay this is how I know you aren't exactly thinking striaght. Cadets got 7th in drums on finals night dude. They were super dirty. Granted they had a bad run through, however they were BAD-bad.

Musical ability

Safe Buses

Qualified Staff

Good Food

Decent Instruments

Cool Toys in the Pit..and a pit for that matter.

So get off your high horse it was better in my day BS..frankly it is getting older than the funk in your old uniform jacket..

a.) This is DCI on the planet Earth.

b.) Drum corps in the past built the foundation for today's.

c.) Drum corps is drum corps. Which is awesome. But doesn't make one era better than another.
