It is so good to see this and to be reminded of the human side of current events. Tim Russert's story (about his father and about trying to be a good father to his son) is an inspiration for all of us. And it is with deep irony that he died two days before Father's Day given that fact that through two of his books he gave greater dignity to fatherhood during a time that it has been a troubled vocation.
I view most national news anchors with disdain. However, Mr. Russert seemed different--One of us---the normal folk--and he will truly be missed by myself. Heaven has definitely gained an angel.

I would like to send my respect to a great man and hopes he rests in piece knowing sooo many people watched him. I personally used to watch him every sunday and ill truly miss him. he really was one of the true non bias journalists. A REAL journalist. I give my wishes to his family. His son luke who's speech touched me in the most genuine way. I know i will miss him greatly.

Tim Russert was such a good man, it is so hard to deal with him not being here anymore.
His son did such a good job at his funeral and memorial service. It is such a shame.

It is so good to see this and to be reminded of the human side of current events. Tim Russert's story (about his father and about trying to be a good father to his son) is an inspiration for all of us. And it is with deep irony that he died two days before Father's Day given that fact that through two of his books he gave greater dignity to fatherhood during a time that it has been a troubled vocation.

Let me make this clear. I like Tim Russert. Very much in fact. It is very sad that while at the apex of his career he died so young. And you bet he was an ace journalist. At the same time, death is the great equalizer. Death does not discriminate. So I find it odd that we turn death into a caste system whereby most die in oblivion and others are ushered out in fanfare and drum roll and glory. How is anyone's death more important than someone else's? Alas, condolences to Tim's family. RIP, Tim.

Subsequent to his untimely death, his family displayed the same high quality he always provided in dealing with the inevitable public display of sympathy.
