Oh,I understand.Your country is where English comes from,so everyone else that speaks english is the one with an accent, you speak how it was supposed to be originally. Is that it?
I sympathise with you on this. I live in one northern UK county and teach in another in the midlands, which often results in being told I sound like a northerner. Yet when I am abroad for various reasons I am accused of sounding southern. Now I have no problem in being identified as 'speaking proper' as it was once put to me but it's only part of who I am and my heritage, not the sum of it! And there is nothing wrong with being a terrible ham!
I obviously hit "post" more than once for the same message! In any case, Hey, B, you paint, you sculpt, you do music, you write - and now that I've seen this - you should add perform/act as well!
Interesting philosophy. I am of the belief that all human beings are of one energy and that language/religion/war has been created to divide and harvest this energy. Do you consider yourself a human of Earth or a human of the USA Corp? I guess it depends on your geography of thought.
This reminds me when I was in Russia and seen this old Russian car, I was telling everyone who of course was Russian to look at "look at that old foreign car", well the car was not foreign, I was!
I try not to do this when I come across English people. For some reason I don't think we Americans would bother someone from a country that doesn't have English as a first language about the accent they have, but when we come across someone from the UK/New Zealand/Australia/South Africa we are simply fascinated, and we really shouldn't be in a world that's getting smaller.
Both is unapropriate, it`s not right to put those two nations in the same bill, it`s like America and Canada, or China and, Japan, Germany and Austria... And we speak two different languages, Croatians write using Latin alphabet, an Serbians write using Cyrillic alphabet, so there you go.
Your point is very true, but your logic could be flipped around very easily. You are the foreigner to the people viewing you and asking about the way you speak. Making you the alien with the accent.
I didn't know the Latvians were in need of liberation, although I hear that some of them do tend to feel a bit depressed over having to eat fish all the time. Still, this sad state of affairs hardly qualifies for international intervention. Then again, perhaps we should send them some canned spaghetti and meatballs or vienna sausages just to break up the monotony.
The English speak English so lovely. Why is that, I wonder? :) I am a Spanish teacher and am entirely facinated with everyone's accent. I am from the South, but have a very boring, general American accent. Accents give so much character to a person. Maybe I'll just fake an accent to be more interesting :) Although, I will say in the English language, we pronounce sounds that aren't really there. Colonel, for example. Or Hiccough. hmmmmm...
Well in your video you said you sound normal to the people where you come from. If your accent is multiple nationality's into one then how on earth are we the ones with accents and you not?
Good point. I see what you mean. Who ever called you Smug and arogant are wrong. Its expressing Free will and Opinions. Not being arogant or Smug. Everyone thinks differently. Unless you a Clone XD.
Im myself and no one else. I am who I am, who cares what people think of me. My feelings still can get hurt though just like others. But Im tolerate. If people don't want to know me from just seeing me. Than thats a loss to those people.
ur right. u dont have an accent. in english that is. us americans have the accents because we, in truth, are supposed to be talking like that too. the sepparation by the ocean changed that. but if u were to speak spanish or any other language, you would have an accent so i guess it just depends where ur from and what language u are speaking.
I think I could listen to you speak all day. Wouldn't really matter what you are saying :-) You're adorable. My daughter speaks very eloquently and my husband and I aren't quite sure why as neither one of us are this way ??? Who knows.
You use RP, one of the many class and regional accents in the UK: it is the accent of the upper class and of parvenu aspirants. Having been educated at Oxford, I can switch RP on and off as I please, though English is my third language. By preference, I assume a Canadian accent, which you apparently cannot distinguish from, say, Noo Ywoak or Bahstun, though I am certain that you could tell a cockney from a Yorkshireman. England remains, literally and figuratively, an insular place.
is just that in the US everbody is used to hearing californian accent in TV News. OGG have you noticed that people in the News talk more like californians.

The only accent sexier than an educated british man, is the accent of an educated southern belle.
Face it my friend: we're hot. Yes, it's a burden, but someone has to be sexy so it might as well be us.

From Savannah Georgia? (I understand that's where the hottest southern belles hang out).

I have been known to hang out in Savannah, but I live in Macon.
Unfortunately, now that I'm a soccer mom I don't do much "hanging out" anywhere anymore.
