I just made these and my house smells like heaven! I only had unsalted butter so added 1 tsp salt

I forgot all about the salt and added it after mixing in the chocolate chips

(big mistake? I mixed it well)

My muffins look lovely and smell great but erm... came out a bit salty :(

How much salt should I add next time please?

@stardustkay Personally I have tried these with salt and without and to be quite frank there is no difference so leave the salt out. I use salted butter but sometimes I use unsalted and dont add salt, they taste just as scrumptous.

I do this choco banana muffins,but I use oil instead butter and add sour cream in the mix. they are very soft and taste delicious.

I'm making these again this morning; however, my daughter ate one of the ripe bananas, leaving me with only two. So, I pureed some strawbereries and added them to give it the extra moisture. They smell really good, Thanks. The ladeis at the bank loved them the other day.

@TheJunglelipstick no, they've modified the bananas these days anyway so you rarely get a banana that goes brown when you mash it...they have to screw with everything!

@TheJunglelipstick the banana with dark spots has a slightly different taste than one without...if you're like me, you buy bananas and while they don't have dark spots, you eat them as they are, soon as they get the spots, you keep them for baking :-)

You should really add the salt. Eat a muffin with and a muffin without salt and you'll see that the one with salt tastes wayyy better. I used to skip the salt part to, but then I made some muffins with and some without salt and the one with salt tasted way better.

if they are gooey you need to cook them longer...when you check them push the middle if the are spongy and bounce back they are cooked

Tried these today! Its HEAVEN ON EARTH! My whole house smells so good. Instead of 1/2 cup chocolate chips, I used 1/4 cup walnut & 1/4 cup chocolate chips - turned out fabulous - I made smaller muffins than yours I guess so I got 27!! Already devoured 4 - greedy me!!!!:))
