Two things wrong with this clip. One, a guy yells out "Colt!" So Colt just turns and fires 6 shots (awkwardly by the way). I mean it could have been his third grade Sunday School teacher saying Hi. Also, has anyone else ever noticed that there is a crew member in the reflection of the window pane just above the sleeping roll on the horse's saddle? He is wearing a white short sleeve shirt.
Yes theres no doubt about it. The big cheese at Warner certainly must have a hot ass considering all the great television like this he must be sitting on. Cmon Cmon Warner. Were all waiting.PS. thanks for posting.
Goodness, the comments are right. He's firing shots off in all directions. Was the actor such an amateur he couldn't point a gun and pull the trigger properly?
Used to love this show but remember a different beginning where he is walking up the street and you can hear the clicking of the hammer as he fires. Loved that sound. Do you have that opening scene?
" , , , A lightning bolt when he drew that Colt (Bang) 45!" Sorry. I remember the theme from seeing this show in syndication as a kid. Pretty cool show. What was the last Western Warner Bros. did - was it "F Troop"? "Rango"? I remember "F Troop" well, but have only vague recollections of Tim Conway in "Rango". Did Warners do any more Westerns after that? Just curious.
What a great time to be a kid !!!! I feel sorry for kids today, they dont know what the real america of the 60s & 50s was......i wish we could go back and stay that way !!!!!
WOW!!! I never saw this on Youtube...a CLASSIC! I have some bootlegged "LAWMAN" disks from China, and am grateful to see them, but none like this. What the f--k is the problem with those historically cheap (and I mean CHEAP) bastards at WB? What are they waiting for? Wake the f--k up, guys! Even that dickhead, AB Klein (ABKO), gave way when he let go with the 60s music. SHARE, f----r!
Notice during the Warner's TV logo that you can't see NBC or Disney's studios...but you can see what eventually became the 134 Freeway at the top right ( not sure what it was called then...maybe Ventura Boulevard ).
@michaeledwardmorris that didn't become the 134, that is the LA River and Riverside Dr. which became Forest Lawn. Disney was there, just up the road (which would be off the top left of the screen). Still pretty cool to see this though...
I learned something new about the Colt 45 recently. A friend & I went to the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco, Tx & found that Colt came up with his 45 specfically for the Texas Rangers. Apparently revolvers were some kinda new fangled gadget. The museum is really a cool place with tons of history.
And yep, that 1 riot,1 ranger story is also true. As it goes, Boxing matches used to be held mostly in secret for reasons not important right now. But a match was being held in the Dallas area & Captain Bill McDonald was dispatched. As he stepped off the train, he was met by the mayor & was asked"where are the rest of the rangers? McDonald replied'There's only one fight isn't there?
unclebob....that was a crackup commentary ...yup, like in the movie Shane , Shane shoots a barrell at ground level, when the guy with rifle shooting at him was upstairs ...no retakes !/ U made me lrf*
Pay atention when he pulls the right gun: if it had a real ammunition he will hits his own feet! Sorry folks but it is very very ridiculous. :( I'm tired to see the wrong way to use a gun on TV shows.
Yep! Cheyenne, Maverick, Sugarfoot, Bronco Lane. All part of being an American kid in the late 50's and early 60's. TV you didn't have to cover your kids eyes to shield from like the cultural rot today.
@VirginiaPatriot - Oh, yes of course! A man firing a pistol at the viewer so as to KILL is always so much healthier than what you find of TV today. Never mind that every single leading man or woman is WHITE while any person of color happens to be a pigeon English talking Indian, Mexican bandito or black service boy. Christ, ain't you grown up any AT ALL after all these years?
@bigjimjag Amen to that. After Wade Preston left, Donald May took over the role. It was my extreme honor to have met Mr. May in 1996 at a nostalgia show.
I grew up with programs like this, but don't figure out my age, LOLOLOLOL.
@bigjimjag the wb westerns are good sound recording wise but they are a little slow moveing compared to 4 star productions like wanted dead or alive and the rifleman do you want talk or action?
colt. 45 intro is good. the texan is just as good. by the way . the texan is the only western in which the intro show the hero riding into a town & closing credits riding out of town. the theme music is gr8
he did a couple of spagetti westerns after this but he didnt like acting that much so he went back to flying charter planes then many moons later he was a stand in for charlton heston in dynasty.

@XCritonX Yeah - I bet he plugged a whole lotta innocent bystanders (and a few snails) with that flurry of gunfire. Maybe even his own horse as well.
