I wondered what happened to Dicky, it's nice to see he is still about.

As for the Arcam, well, ahem... to me It has the look of an air conditioning unit.. Asthetics are of course purely subjective/personel, but for me so called "specialist" Brit brands have never been goodlookers, also seriously over-priced.

But there was once Amstrad and Alba, two other Brit brands that started with an "A", but they were classics from a time when the UK ruled and they were exceptionally good value...

I love arcam to bits. Stil own AVR280. But 8k is a bit overkill.

I have the Arcam AVR500 so i have an idea why he's so enthusiastic. Arcam are just about the only company to make amps that sound good in stereo _and_ multichannel. Wasted on your rubbish white van speakers so don't even look at this sort of stuff if you've never heard top flight gear.
