just listen to the genius of DEE DEE on these fucking awesome lyrics, Joey, Johnny, And Dee Dee might be gone but they are still in my heart, GABBA GABBA HEY FOREVER
@cyberpunk33 Joey's the singer Dee Dee's a geutarist and backing vocals and rarly sing's. Their both dead now Joey was the first Ramone to die, of cancer. Every other ramone to die science than had died from cancer.
This is the only band I ever got close to get their complete collection, or shall I say more than 3 records of, since there is no band, group or singer I have got more than 3, but the Ramones.
THink about the 80s radio stations were playing shit music. Those bands are forgotten they are has beens. The Ramones will endure just as Mozart and Beethoven.
I didn't mean to say that Ramones never got any attention anywhere. I meant that a band this great and influential should've gotten so much more. But that's the way world goes, it's the same everywhere around. The bands/movies/books/painters that eventually become classics are rarely given the appreciation they deserve when they are active or first come out.
Argentina ramonera!!!! Qué dolor, todos los ramoneros saben el dolor de la muerte de Joey, Dee Dee y Johnny. ¡Cómo se los extraña! Por suerte, CJ y Marky son amigos de la casa. ¡Qué banda, carajo!
@ Hallanrauta. Saw the Ramones every year from '83 to 88', mostly at Hollywood Palladium. Met Dee Dee in '84 on tour bus in back alley, cigarette in hand. The Ramones, I believe, worked VERY hard. I like your comments. God bless them all.
Una pregunta en el verano del 2009 en un comercial de cocacola salio una cancion de fondo... sin duda era de los ramones pero no me acuerdo el nombre de la cancion.. alguien si sabe me la puede decir.

@Hallanrauta Thanks to Brazil, Argentina and Chile they got what they really deserved.. soccer stadiums full of crazy fans shouting HEY HO LET'S GO and GABBA GABBA HEY!!
@Hallanrauta What the fuck everyone knows who the ramones are their one of the most publicized punk band of all time, Magizines everything. Everyone knows whair they were when Joe died. I like the ramones, but all they ever used was bar codes and rarly three note solos. Like any geutarist worth their weight in salt should be able to figure out any of these songs by ear if they wan't to be a bitter.
@JFryParnell That's the whole point. They invented punk. But why they started punk is something else. They stayed within their limitations they stuck to what they knew how to do. And if that ment playing 3 or 4 chords per song that's what they stuck too. That's how punk was born BTW :P. And there's much more to a song than just how many chords it uses and besides it's not that easy to write a catchy song with that minimum. I tried. Not that easy...
@winnetouch The key to the ramones sound was not the simple chord structure but the way they were played. All down strokes, which is brutally hard. It created a kind of sound wall which Marc and Chris harmonized with.
I saw the intrewievs, read the articles and heard their stories. They first intended to be a cover band. But when they realised they can't play any of the songs they liked, they wrote a couple of songs that stuck to what they knew how to play. The esential 4 chord progressions, downstrokes on the guitar (since johnny had no real playing skill at the time) and more emphais on melody than riffs. At the same time they rebeled agains the self absorbed rock bands of the time that played 15min songs.
@JFryParnell I wouldn't really agree. The punk attitude has been around probably since ancient roman times or even earlier. But the musical style started in the 1970's. But that's my point of seing things you don't have to agree :P
@winnetouch What about the cramps. Punk came from the 50's and had a revival in the 70's. The stuff from the 50's the singers sound weird like theirs something wrong with their voices or something. Why do you think the Ramones played all there covers from rock bands from the 50s. because it was punk, and that's what they called it at the time. Maby 70s punk is better but who are you to tell a 50s punk they're not a punk you don't know. Their who the Ramones and the Misfits are emulating Duh.
No music today is not based on something heard before. The ramones sound comes from the surfer subculture. At least it did for the first couple of albums. You can't say that the cramps are punk just because the ramones emulated them to a certain degree. That's like saying Queen are metal (though they do have their metal moments) because they influenced Metallica. Or Queen are pop because they influenced Lady GaGa. By that degree Queen could be any genre but we still clasify them as rock.
@winnetouch you said punk came from the 70's Im saying it came from the 50's. Because it did it's a fact despite VH1's bogus punkumentarys. You said the Ramones invented punk earlier. I don't think the Ramones them selfs believed that they were the first punk band. I know plenty of punk bands from even the 60s, and they to just like the 50s punks considered themselves punk rockers. Quit arguing with me before you hurt your self.
@winnetouch look dude I never said the ramones were imulating the craps I was just using them as a quick referance to a punk band from the 50's. If anything the ramones were slightly trying to imulate the trashmen who wrote Surfing bird. At any rate I was kinda hoping youd ask about some punk bands from the 50's or 60's and Id make you a list alright.
@winnetouch your point about surfer subculture influence is a good one just look at the way dick dale helped pave the way not only from a intensity standpoint but from speaker and amplifier development with leo fender as well
Non Ramones fans,or non punk rock fans in general just won't ever understand how great this live version of Poison Heart is. Punks hate Van Halen for a reason. I'm done arguing this subject Happy Holidays
Either people "get it" or they don't. The Ramones were extremely talented, along with a lot of other punk bands. Johnny Ramone's down strokes were equal to Eddie Van Halen's lead playing,in his own way. So if you don't "get it'" don't even bother listening to the late, great Ramones!
fuck u bitch its not that easy u little shit if u play like johnny all down strokes and its not shity the copy is shity i bet if u were there u shit ur self on how good it was and if u stilll dont think so then ull get ur ass beat by crowed and me
Hey,Father.I saw RAMONES every year from 83 to 88,and they were always "great" live. As for being an easy song to play,"they" wrote it,and it expresses the agony of a poison heart, musically.Let's see you try playing over 2000 shows without a bad night.

JFryParnell 7 months ago

@JFryParnell the cramps are not from the 50's btw.

Hey,Father.I saw RAMONES every year from 83 to 88,and they were always "great" live. As for being an easy song to play,"they" wrote it,and it expresses the agony of a poison heart, musically.Let's see you try playing over 2000 shows without a bad night.

It's great how Johnny only played barre chords. He was one of my favorite guitar players of all time.
