the ramones are the reason why i started playing guitar. ramones forever.

  • Dee Dee's lyrics were so powerful..

"I just wanna walk right out of this world, cuz everybody has a poison heart."

No wonder he used the word "creeps" so much in his book and held a slight disdain for NYC in later years.

  • This is the only band I ever got close to get their complete collection, or shall I say more than 3 records of, since there is no band, group or singer I have got more than 3, but the Ramones.

  • I think they got all the attention they wanted. Probably not in the States, but worldwide they sure did.

  • ramones are too tough to die. im some 15 year old kid, and damn man, this is my shit. RAMONES FOR LIFE!

  • i like many bands but there's only one band i love

  • This is art.

  • This is art, I love this song.

  • THink about the 80s radio stations were playing shit music. Those bands are forgotten they are has beens. The Ramones will endure just as Mozart and Beethoven.

  • up the punx.... i spent 24 years listening theramones everysingleday..

  • *---*

  • I DONT KNOW WHY PEOPLE SAY THAT JOEY'S VOICE SUCKS, I THINK HIS VOICE IS VERY SPECIAL, AND I THINK IT'S PRETTY GOOD

  • argentina + punkrock = RAMONES

  • I didn't mean to say that Ramones never got any attention anywhere. I meant that a band this great and influential should've gotten so much more. But that's the way world goes, it's the same everywhere around. The bands/movies/books/painters that eventually become classics are rarely given the appreciation they deserve when they are active or first come out.

  • @ Hallanrauta. Saw the Ramones every year from '83 to 88', mostly at Hollywood Palladium. Met Dee Dee in '84 on tour bus in back alley, cigarette in hand. The Ramones, I believe, worked VERY hard. I like your comments. God bless them all.

    Grande Ramones

  • La cancion fue ''I Wanna Be Sedated''

  • @PixTols No me acuerdo, creo que era What a wonderful world (de Joey como solista) o I wanna be sedated.

  • Gracias era What a Wonderful World de Joey ramon...!

  • @PixTols y yo quiero saber cual era el comercial :-S

  • la cancion era What a onderful world ;)

    we're outta here

  • LA VOZ WN ENVIDIABLE POR LA ETERNIDAD !

  • es muy buena esa cancin

  • lo mejor que hay este tema

    te hace emocionar mucho¡¡¡

  • It's hard to say whether success would've changed Ramones or not. To me they are one of the very few bands in the history of Rock n' Roll who knew what they wanted from the very beginning of their career and never NEEDED to change because they hit the jackpot right away.

Listen to this song: a simple, catchy pop song at the core sounds like Ramones and nothing else. I'm pretty convinced that even if they had become commercially huge, they would've still sounded like Ramones.

  • It's such a shame this band never really got the attention and success they certainly deserved. Rock musicians always loved them and they inspired a great number of bands, but the large audience never understood what an extraordinary band Ramones was.

The music still lives on however, and will get new listeners from new generations. Many bands that had a large audience during their active career will effectively fade out, but Ramones will never die!

  • Amen to that!!!

but gotta say, if they were understood by large audiences they would have loose some of what they were.

    they were huge!!!

  • True, but its better they didnt gain much popularity

  • @Hallanrauta RAMONES FOREVER !!!!

  • @Hallanrauta

It's GOOD they didn't sell out and become TOP30!!

    Luckily!

  • @Hallanrauta I think the same, even they started an the 70's I'm a 17 years old mexican girl who loves their work...punk's not dead!!!

  • @Hallanrauta

Maybe in the US, but when they came to South America, they filled up Stadiums EVERY SINGLE TIME.

    Argentina, pais Ramonero.

  • @Hallanrauta

In America perhaps...but you're not considering how fucking insanely HUGE they were in several different countries in South America alone, not to mention their MASSIVE popularity in Germany, & Japan.

Americans are ignorant when it comes to music...and there have hardly been any good American bands to begin with.

Ramones are the best...who else? Aerosmith? CCR? Even Hendrix couldn't get noticed...he had to go to England & THEN come to America.

    Fuck Americans' taste in music...

  • @Hallanrauta if you want to see the best ramones fan ever take a look to argentinean crowd =)

  • @Hallanrauta I see it this way, there are some, very little number of, persons who create and perform in such a manner, perhaps dense for the broad majority, but inspiring of a lot other creators...

  • @Hallanrauta don't worry, I already have a setlist of songs that one day my son will listen... and ramones have a couple songs there..

  • @Hallanrauta Man, Here in South America (Brasil and Argentina) they were like Gods! Always!

  • @arthurbms

    Agreed,in South America,Ramones are Gods.

    South America love The Ramones.

  • @Hallanrauta Thanks to Brazil, Argentina and Chile they got what they really deserved.. soccer stadiums full of crazy fans shouting HEY HO LET'S GO and GABBA GABBA HEY!!

  • @gabrielRAMONE Good shout. They were big in Spain, too, long after most of us in the UK considered them well pas their best.

  • @gabrielRAMONE south america love RAMONES !!!!

  • @gabrielRAMONE Ramones Ever! Brasilian people loves Ramones! The best USA band!

  • @Hallanrauta What the fuck everyone knows who the ramones are their one of the most publicized punk band of all time, Magizines everything. Everyone knows whair they were when Joe died. I like the ramones, but all they ever used was bar codes and rarly three note solos. Like any geutarist worth their weight in salt should be able to figure out any of these songs by ear if they wan't to be a bitter.

  • @JFryParnell That's the whole point. They invented punk. But why they started punk is something else. They stayed within their limitations they stuck to what they knew how to do. And if that ment playing 3 or 4 chords per song that's what they stuck too. That's how punk was born BTW :P. And there's much more to a song than just how many chords it uses and besides it's not that easy to write a catchy song with that minimum. I tried. Not that easy...

  • @winnetouch The key to the ramones sound was not the simple chord structure but the way they were played. All down strokes, which is brutally hard. It created a kind of sound wall which Marc and Chris harmonized with.

  • I saw the intrewievs, read the articles and heard their stories. They first intended to be a cover band. But when they realised they can't play any of the songs they liked, they wrote a couple of songs that stuck to what they knew how to play. The esential 4 chord progressions, downstrokes on the guitar (since johnny had no real playing skill at the time) and more emphais on melody than riffs. At the same time they rebeled agains the self absorbed rock bands of the time that played 15min songs.

  • @winnetouch Punks been around for as long as theirs been stringed instruments. This song sounds like something a bard would play in the dark ages.

  • @JFryParnell I wouldn't really agree. The punk attitude has been around probably since ancient roman times or even earlier. But the musical style started in the 1970's. But that's my point of seing things you don't have to agree :P

  • @winnetouch What about the cramps. Punk came from the 50's and had a revival in the 70's. The stuff from the 50's the singers sound weird like theirs something wrong with their voices or something. Why do you think the Ramones played all there covers from rock bands from the 50s. because it was punk, and that's what they called it at the time. Maby 70s punk is better but who are you to tell a 50s punk they're not a punk you don't know. Their who the Ramones and the Misfits are emulating Duh.

  • No music today is not based on something heard before. The ramones sound comes from the surfer subculture. At least it did for the first couple of albums. You can't say that the cramps are punk just because the ramones emulated them to a certain degree. That's like saying Queen are metal (though they do have their metal moments) because they influenced Metallica. Or Queen are pop because they influenced Lady GaGa. By that degree Queen could be any genre but we still clasify them as rock.

  • @winnetouch you said punk came from the 70's Im saying it came from the 50's. Because it did it's a fact despite VH1's bogus punkumentarys. You said the Ramones invented punk earlier. I don't think the Ramones them selfs believed that they were the first punk band. I know plenty of punk bands from even the 60s, and they to just like the 50s punks considered themselves punk rockers. Quit arguing with me before you hurt your self.

  • @winnetouch look dude I never said the ramones were imulating the craps I was just using them as a quick referance to a punk band from the 50's. If anything the ramones were slightly trying to imulate the trashmen who wrote Surfing bird. At any rate I was kinda hoping youd ask about some punk bands from the 50's or 60's and Id make you a list alright.

  • @JFryParnell the cramps are not from the 50's btw.

  • @fussodd666 That's what I herd. So when did the Cramps start than.

  • @JFryParnell '76

  • @fussodd666 What about the plugz their prity old right.

  • @JFryParnell '77?

  • @fussodd666 What about the Spider Babies or the Eat.

  • @winnetouch your point about surfer subculture influence is a good one just look at the way dick dale helped pave the way not only from a intensity standpoint but from speaker and amplifier development with leo fender as well

  • Yeaaaa genial estee temaa .. viva los ramoness ..... aun se escuchan

  • Merry Christmas, I don't want to fight tonight!

  • vete a tomar por culo ignorante de mierda!!

  • the greatest band ever !!!

  • rip joey johnny dee dee

  • This. Is. The. Shit.

    YEAAAAAH!

*bangs head and pogoes around kitchen*

  • gabba gabba we accept you one of us! Merry Christmas to all! Gabba Gabba hey!!!

  • Non Ramones fans,or non punk rock fans in general just won't ever understand how great this live version of Poison Heart is. Punks hate Van Halen for a reason. I'm done arguing this subject Happy Holidays

  • sure buddy

  • @ramonefreak That last comment was for the priest! Glad to see we have the RAMONES ARMY in the world to stand up to these disrespectful

Ramones critics! I love this live 'Poison Heart' version! Dee Dee wrote it! Happy holidays!

  • ok tought guy

  • Either people "get it" or they don't. The Ramones were extremely talented, along with a lot of other punk bands. Johnny Ramone's down strokes were equal to Eddie Van Halen's lead playing,in his own way. So if you don't "get it'" don't even bother listening to the late, great Ramones!

  • whats so funny

  • u know what im done with u faggot have fun wasting ur life on youtube everyday looser

  • Comment removed

  • i blocked ya first nigger and im not a faggot i have a girlfriend and once again ill kick ur ass bitch

  • im 14 and ill kick ur ass bitch so what if its 4 strings its good music and its fast and its very hard to play all down strokes u piece of shit

  • Hey,Father.I saw RAMONES every year from 83 to 88,and they were always "great" live. As for being an easy song to play,"they" wrote it,and it expresses the agony of a poison heart, musically.Let's see you try playing over 2000 shows without a bad night.

  • It's great how Johnny only played barre chords. He was one of my favorite guitar players of all time.

  • i havent got a poison heart have you ?

  • no, i haven´t no tengo no :)

  • shut up stupid ignorant FUCKYOU!!!! long live RAMONES

  • Listen to how great Joey's voice is in this version! And Johnny ALWAYS played only power chords! This is an awesome version!

  • @68Strut Actually, Johnny only played barre chords.

  • fuck you

  • This clip needs more Johnny in it.

  • this song is live different from the album isnt it? johnny is playing mostly power chords isnt he?
