Paul Morley, made a career commenting on Factory. Tried to be part of it with The Negatives in the late 70's but failed. Biggest "hanger-on" ever. Gretton was right....full of shit. Listening to Gretton, the bloke who played him in 24 hr Party People did an amazing job
after much consideration i think morley and wilson really grasp the finer points of joy division/ian curtis, and gretton and erasmus are pretty basic (and very lucky) people
I didn't realize until I watched this how good Paddy Considine's performance was in 24 hour party people he had the voice mannerism and look down. It really is amazing.
cant believe this, there was an outcry because they were selling an album that they funded and helped make to help them with financial problems. what about the persistant peddling of john lennon and elvis mementos, fuck paul morley hes a dickhead.
Paul Morley was seriously full of shit in those days. Given what we all know now about how Factory was (mis)managed, his portrayal of the company as shrewd and businesslike is laughable.
Man I would have killed to go to the Hacienda - they need to rebuild. And Paddy Considine totally owned the persona of Rob Gretton in 24 Hour Party People!
Agreed! I'd never seen the real Rob Gretton before watching this today and I had to watch it twice to believe just how uncanny Paddy C's portrayal of his was.

joy division without curtis = ball licking rubbish, or new order if you will. I can't believe how pompous new order all, talented as my bum ring the lot of them
And Ian Curtis alone would be what? Pompous as they may be, they were the music behind the vocal and the lyrics. Without Sumner, Hook and Morris, there would be no Joy Division. Don't think that any other musicians would have given the same result. The success of New Order is proof that they do have talent whether you like their style of music or not. Read Ian Curtis' couple of biographies to have a better understanding of the band.
I agree with your 20% :-). It's just that I do enjoy Joy Division's raw sound live too, but yeah, he played an extremely important role in the sound of Joy Division.
what for? the hacienda was revolutionary, it was the birth of rave culture. so if you did re-build it'd just be another club like the rest them and wouldn't have much impact! but would look very cool though
Awesome - you went to the Russel Club when you were only 11... wow... unless of course you are telling porkies... just enjoy the music, no need to pretend you were part of it - show some respect
forget AHW bullshit. forget Paul Morley Psycho Bollocks. forget Corbins romanticised video...listen to Atmosphere the most poignant and beautiful song EVER recorded...bar none
