The witch trials took place in what is now Danvers. At the time it was part of Salem. Poor Danvers; it's the *real* witch city, but Salem has stolen the publicity.
Anyone can help me to my problem coz i cant sleep at night bcoz of this, pls help me on how to make a spell,,i will spell my family so that they will like my boyfriends,,,pls pls pls help me...huhuhuhhuhumy yahoomail is ggod12@ymail.com
I live in the Bahamas but, on a cruise in 08 I stopped on a tour of Salem. It was very interesting doing the walking tour and going to the Witch Museum and ate at that same restaurant out on the dock there. I always wanted to go there because I had a friend who was a witch. She was a very nice person but did not practice as much lately as she did many years ago. Very sadly, she died this past Friday.
@Myrtlelyn Thank you Myrtlelyn for your kind words. I miss her so much. She had a hard life and lost her son in a motorbike accident several years ago in Guernsey, C.I., the same way she lost her husband. We met through work and she visited me in the Bahamas one year before her son died and I visited her in Guernsey last year. We were very close and she helped me and me her with our losses. My mom passed a few years ago, and she kept me going.
I've always been a little apprehensive about going to Salem because I don't want to be confused with someone who saw The Craft or Practical magic and all of a sudden is a witch.I have been practicing for about 18 years, i'm not flashy at all ( I dont tell everyone i meet, no neon sign, or door to door style pamflets type stuff).Real life has made my husband and mine's schedules kind of impossable too.Grandma wants the kids this weekend, so we'll see i guess (if the fate's allow).
don't go downtown in the summer, you'll run into all the annoying stoner kids.Just warning you, downtown salem is like a hangout for druggie kids. I live there, its a nice place and all, but you know. every town has those kids.
salem got some nice buolding and this city looks so clean not like other usa city dirty and not beautiful this place got some badass history but they know how to keep thier city clean.
I lived in Beverly MA. Took the train into salem almost everyday. or walked down cabot st through downtown beverly and over the salem/beverly bridge. Now im in houston texas. what a huge difference...
I would love to visit Salem, MA. sometime. So rich with history and mystery. . I would assume some of the original 'courthouses' where the actual witch trials took place are still standing? Would be interesting to see.
there was one photo w/ the creepiest lookin place...looked like a black wood church with a hearse in front..please let me know where and what this is...I am going to salem hopefuly early nxt year & want to see that building for sure...i haven't seen it on any salem websites!!!
@Myrtlelyn The last time I was in Salem (2004), there was a sign on the front door that said "This is not a church--get over it." What an awesome place to live!
your not wrong its the best breakfast and biggest ever with exceptional service and the eggs are cooked to perfection next time i go to salem i wil be in ther for sure
(cullyvan) Why am I a nutjob, just because I made a observation that you don't agree with? Well OMG I guess we all better know what you think is sane and what is not then from now on. Why don't you pull your bottom lip over your head and swallow. Your proof that any idiot can use a keyboard. Have a nice day.
Do you notice that in some of these pictures there is a cloudy almost misty entity present. It might just be glare but you never know. I still can't get over how made it makes me feel to see innocent people accused and put to death for no reason at all. Sorry for babbling.
I loved you slide show it was incredible. The music in combination to the pictures were breathtaking. I can't wait to visit someday. I hope to live there one day or at least near by. To think these horrible things happened to innocent people it's just horrible. I almost cried. Thanks for posting.
I go there every year around Halloween time : ) -- I usually have a few new friends (I tend to hang around with Koreans a lot; so I make a lot of exchange student friends). I brought my Korean boyfriend there last year, they don't have Halloween in Korea -- He was shocked seeing all the people there ..
Also Salem has a lot of history other than the Witch trails. The architecture/small streets, quaint shops/cafe's - is really pretty too.
Well then you must live in a pretty hicky area ... I've lived here my whole life --- that's almost 21 years, and there's really intelligent people here ... Do you not ever go to Boston? It's the #1 University city in the US ... Heard of Harvard ? : P
John Hathorne was an ancestor of the author, Nathaniel Hawthorne. It is said that Nathaniel may have changed his name to disassociate himself from his ancestor, the Judge.
Why is this city like this??

It is a very interesting home to say the least.

Salem is a Beautiful Historic City, and so is the Whole surrounding area.
There is a lot to see and do , Witch Craft aside !! If you live there and can not appreciate it, then you are right --you have no IQ= Admitted Idiot.
I used to live outside Salem , And have been visiting most of my life. I have never seen what you describe.
Furthermore, your NASTY Comment had nothing to do with what my Slideshow represents and you are very RUDE and Insulting.
Blessed Be !!!

It is one of my favorite cities. It hs so much to offer-including a great place for Witches to be open without conflict.
I love all the old homes, stone roads, old trees , the ocean. I just do not like the Winter---too cold !!!
