  • ;-))))

  • I don't agree with our assessment of Malick, who is a fantastic film maker, but I appreciate your parody. Nicely done.

  • Funny shit. Spot on.

  • HAHA! I love Malick but this is very funny.

  • BRILLIANT. lol!

  • Yeah, I know. That's what makes this funny - or completely undecipherable - as the case may be. Thanks for the note.

  • hHhHhhahahahaha! just like his films. but still, i love his work

  • Mock him all you want. He made 'Days of Heaven' and you didn't.

  • @searcherboy I was thinking about making it. But it was easier to watch TV.

  • This made me laugh quite a bit. I loved all the random animal footage, made me feel like I was watching The Thin Red Line.

  • @TheCoasterGod Finally, somebody who understands! Thanks.

  • i liked the part where the guy talked to himself.

  • The opening print is very cleaver; however, Terrence Malick is anything but over-rated.

  • Only somebody that loves Malick would do this. So....what was that, one trip to some Animal Park?

  • I wanted to laugh and almost did. It's too bad you didn't do a better job on this-- the grass was good, but too many animals, and your revolutionary needs to have a Southern accent even though they didn't exist yet.

Nothing is sacred, yes, even the great films of Malick, but if you're gonna parody them, do so with some real insight! Otherwise we'll just think you're too short-witted to really appreciate them ;)

  • @350125Stay I think that part was overplayed. It worked better before that segment.

  • Attracting Malik fans to your boring video. That's all. Apart from the Uggs bit.

  • this is not funny

  • you dumbass

    go to hell

  • You have the right to make fun of Malick. But do it right! This is not funny at all. It is mediocre humour.

  • HAHA, Terrence Malick is my favourite director, but this is hilarious!

  • Wow, two positive comments in a row! Three years of flames are all worthwhile! :-)

  • @moviejuice I'm a HUUUGE Terrence Malick fan, and I thought this was hilarious :)

It's funny you made this before Tree of Life came out, but you didn't include dinosaurs! :(

  • @ijwi Like Malick, I was limited to stock nature footage. But obviously I should have opened it up to CG and claymation! :-)

  • I like Malick and I still laughed at this. Hahahaha!

  • my comment was directed at the maker of this dumb video.

  • go to hell.

  • I feel sorry for you that you don't get Malick, you're really missing out. Now go back to watching Transformers.

  • @Blumis2000 terrence malick is bad and you should feel bad

    go see some tarkovski

  • Speaking of long, how about doing a spoof on "The Idiot" that was portrayed on Christian Bale's coffee table.

  • This is not funny at all...

you are making fun of one of most important contemporanean directors who can still avoid the mainstream movie chain of Hollywood...

    :( Not funny at all!

  • Ah, you did a spell check that time, no fair.

  • Comment removed

  • At least I know how to spell "you're"

  • ahahahah!!!

  • They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, even if (as in this case) it too terrible even to be an amusing parody.

  • I suppose most of this footage is from a zoo- which one? and did you find the footage or film it?

  • man, you might be funny at the moment, but you have no means to harm The Malick Master at all.

well, go on with this cabaret on some others...

  • I thought Badlands was alright, but I really like The Thin Red Line and The New World. I have yet to see Days of Heaven, though. I think the video's on the internet somewhere.

I thought this video was kind of funny. Malick's naturalist style of cinematography isn't for everyone. I normally despise unecessary narration in movies (it killed The Assassination of Jesse James for me), but it is integral for Malick's.

Why do people get offended because people don't share their same opinions?

  • Funny! But it also reminded me how much I loved Days of Heaven.

  • I'am a huge Terrence Malick fanboy, I love all of his work. And I can't wait to buy the extended cut of "The New World."

But this spoof is easily one of the funniest things that I have ever seen on youtube. And the fact that my fellow fanboys keep bashing this, is simply embarrassing me. Movie juice is fucking AWESOME! :)

  • LOL. Love Mallick and the spoof.

  • I must admit. Its very silly

  • THANK YOU! Finally. :-)

  • The scene from 1:23 to 1:50 once again shows Malick's brilliant skills of film-making. The cricket stands as a symbol to man's suffering, its long stare and eery quietness a message to all of us; to treat eachother with more care and preserve our emotional bond to nature. This recently discovered footage once again warms me up for 12.5 hours of his future film The Tree of Life. I hope to see him release a 16 hour director's cut of the film I have seen here.

  • @Jekkar Most awesome comment - ever! Thanks.

  • This is very, very funny! I don't see why others are upset. I love Terrence Malick. If this were on Saturday Night Live Malick would be flattered.

  • What a dickhead, "tucked inside AN US Weekly" He can't even use English grammar correctly. Typical anti-intellectual knob-head response to great film making. This person goes to see Adam Sandler movies and laughs.

  • This is seriously retarded. Not only does it display your completely shallow appreciation of Malick's work, but your total inability to create compelling satire. Malick's filmz hav lots of nature and voiceover in them! Thanks, man, you converted me. FAIL.

  • What can I say?

  • screw 'em?

  • It's too bad that not everyone has the IQ to understand good writing. I guess those folks should stick to their one dimensional Speilburg/Lucus films.

  • That pretty much sums up Malick's style.

  • FAIL

  • lol very good parody, ignore the detractors, seriously well done...

  • this is rubbish

  • Though I am a big fan of Malick's films, I found this parody generally amusing and pretty well done. I think even Malick realizes the beauty of a joke all in good fun. 4/5 stars

  • Slow it is.

    Soulful and sleepy and dull.

  • Sheep go to movies.

Almost nobody goes to Malick's movies.

  • Ah...mramsey's plea for shallow sheep culture

    has begun!

  • it's just a JOKE, gang. Stop taking everything so seriously.

  • Face it, you don't get the beauty of the medium.

You choose cynical egotistical wit over having soul, thus the gay wormy composure.

But, you dop, accidentaly point out why he is good, and you are so bad.

  • A lame parody of a pretty good filmmaker.

  • A turd floating in a swimming pool made a career for a certain filmmaker. I'm in great company!

Yeah, I'm jealous of him. I wish I could go a generation between workdays.

  • You could have done a better job "spoofing" Malick's work, and the ending is a cop-out in itself. It almost tells me that you're more jealous of the man. "Overrated" you say? Jesus, there are more overrated (and financially over-compensated) directors hogging up studio money than Malick can shake a stick at.

  • Such an easy and cowardly parody to do.

It fits right in there with meaningless temporary culture of today.

You did put some time into it, and shows how your is about as cool as a turd floating in a swimming pool.

Why Malick is good is also why your efforts

    are so bad.

  • Aw this is too damn funny! I love Terrence Malick's movies (badlands, days of heaven and the thin red line but hated the new world) and this parody is dead on!

  • Thanks, man.

  • malick is the idiot's thinking man.

  • oh yeah, you are a much better filmmaker than Terrence Malick..

  • LOL. I love Mallick but this is hilarious anyway. You obviously don't get the point of his movies, but what the hey.

  • About that you are right!

    Thanks for the note.

  • I love this video. I love Malick. And I love picking on Malick sometimes. :)

Great video. I give it 5 stars. And I love your reviews. :)

  • Thanks! A lot!

  • hey, moviejuice, are you planning to make some more of these? this one gets better and better... I've reached a point, where I find it actually beautiful and touching :-)

    greetz from Germany

  • Wow, what a comment that is! If the inspiration strikes I surely will. Somehow Malick makes the right stars align. Unfortunately, very few people see those particular stars.

  • hilarous. the cricket made me fall from may chair...really 5 stars!

  • Not big on Malick. Badlands was alright. Respec'

  • if you understood Malicks work would you mock him, i would of preferred people make SERIOUS films based on his work

  • agreed, i want to see more films based on his work, his films aren't made to be mocked, the author is obviousley obsessed with seeing the silly side of everything

  • Hehe funny stuff! I like Malick films a lot..but I don't get why people insist this is "inside humor", it was pretty apparent to me. Guess they haven't watched his films. Good stuff

  • Oh, it's inside all right. In large part because so FEW have seen his films.

    Thanks for the kind comments!

  • Mallicks not a hard target for parody but he's a movie god for me. You ain't ever gonna see a Mallick film sitting next to White Chicks in someone's dvd collection.

  • That can't be any truer, so it has to say something about his work, right?

  • I know this music is from the movie the new world, but what is the name of the song? Is it on the soundtrack? This vid kinda sucks but the music is comforting and relaxing.

  • ...and no romantic sunset with interspersed, illuminated clouds?

  • Pretty funny at first (especially the intro credits)...kind of funny after that. The Oscar joke might be funny if Malick had actually won one or was well known for being Academy Award hungry.

Also, Malick probably is over-rated in some circles, but you'll be happy to know not a single video store has a Malick section in his hometown of Austin, TX (that I'm aware of).

  • Uh... yeah. Nice "insider" humor. I bet that you maybe even went to film school. Very informed, visually hip mockery. Funny. Sort of.

    But then...

I watched this kid thing that you've made, and I couldn't help wondering: Do you ever get the feeling that you wish... that you wish you could make something of actual value? Something original? Something not so industry-hip? Something real?

What am I saying. Of course you never ask yourself those questions.

And of course you never will.

  • You mean like Mentos in Coke? Or kitties falling asleep? Or lip-synching on a webcam? Citizen Kane feats of genius like those?

  • eheh, very good!

  • Ah Jules, thanks ye of deep insider humor sense.

  • "why...... am..... i... talking.. to myself?" lol

" I speak one word of Indian: CASINO!" oh shit that was funny.

  • what program do u use for making this video ?? ... love it... it's cool

  • From the movie!

  • Very funny. Where is the music from??

  • Ah, thanks! Glad that SOME folks get the very inside joke!

  • I love this video. It is hilarious!

  • Thanks dude. I should have spoofed 300. More folks would get the joke! :-)

  • Ha HA this is hilarious. And I Absolutely love Terrence Malick films, people have got to lighten up.

  • hey, thanks!

  • I love you're reviews by the way. :)

  • I love "The New World" to death. I think it's one of the greatest films of all time. But this has got to be the funniest video I have ever seen in my life. :)

  • Well thanks! Goes to show you, maybe ONLY the cult fans will appreciate something that makes fun of the cult. Makes sense.

  • The Malick-philes will definitely NOT be amused. Unfortunately one is either Malick-philic or Malick-ignorant. And the latter will not get this video at all. Live and learn!

  • This is funny although the Malick-philes might not be amused.
