a fun thing to do "hire" "mercenaries" but it needs 3 players simply have 1 and 3 allies and 2 be both of Ur enemeys and vice versa then load a few of your transports with the "mercenaries" (my fav are samurai i don't know why) and unload em near player 2 :d sit back and watch

@g4llic Dont forget the Mongols, their special unit is deadly when combined with a castle built near the opponent. Simply kite your opponents back to the castle using them and then have them garrison inside.

randomstuff787. You're totally wrong. First of all, paladins must stay in the back. Archers behind the trebuchets and infantry in the front. Use the trebuchets to destroy the towers without loosing units. If the enemy attempts to attack you, stand still and dont move, kill him with the archers and protect trebuchets all time. No point rushing into castle and making town center. By the way.. no way your villagers will survive in a battle

protecting your archers and trebuchets with paladins and infantry can be useful but if the enemy has 1 or more siege ornagers it can litteraly kill u in 2-4 hits

FASTEST WAY TO KILL A CASTLE IS BY CANNONS those villagers with cannons

On alot of maps there is often a huge forest around the map get ALOT of villagers to keep on chopping the lumber until you are behind it then build a barracks castle and whatever else is nesesery

The easiest way to take a castle by siege in steps is :

- TIP : ALWAYS BRING AT LEAST 2 VILLAGERS AND BUILD A CAMP BEFORE HOLDING SIEGE ON A CASTLE -

1: Try to find another way in that is unattended/out of sight by hostiles or that has few soldiers/villagers or towers around the area.

2: If #1 is successful, take over the castle little at a time and start building and replacing the rubbish of the hostile buildings with what you desire.

3: once/if you take over the castle in its entirety, kill any remaining soldiers outside the walls and around the land.

- If there is only 1 way in to the castle, Try to build up a fighting force and then raid and take out all of the offensive units and destroy the towers around the entrance of the castle. As you fight your way in, build a town center, create villagers, leech and resources of the enemies that you can find, build buildings over and around rubbish of the enemy buildings, and take over the enemy castle (Stronghold).

If you wanted the defending force to look well upgraded, you should make them start in the post-imperial age. You're able to choose starting age at "player" in the scenario editor. Those

dark age houses just didn't match the castle and the wonder :)

i find that one of the best tatics when assaulting cities/castles in Age of Empires is to keep your men at a distance but use artillery to break down their turrets and barricades
