the reason her voice detoriated a bit was because she used it too much in the higher register, what gave Mariah a lovely tone and sound was the fact it had this fraility to it, that it was unbelieveable that them notes were coming out of her mouth!

i like the change in her voice though, its not as impressive but it truly is expressive. The raspy texture adds rawness and it clings to the emotion the lyrics elicit, truly beautiful. Mariah is so versatile that I bet she even surprises herself, it makes me mad when people say all her songs sound the same when every album sounds as if sung by different artists.

Actually in Mickiefever1010's defence Mc did became breathy in 95 yet very powerful,2001 she did sound great but after her breakdown she was starting to get hoarser, and in her charmbracelet tour there some places she gave great performances and some showed her hoarsness, 05 her voice was rested but raspy, in 08 her wasn't great.... but in her recent perfpomances she's so great...

It is so overused she keeps pushing to the limits.. She kept changing the song's tunes to where her voice can reach and still make it sound good but not as good as the original recordings.

Look at Whitney, forcing herself out to her older hits and she just embarasses herself because she completely misses the notes. What Mariah now needs to learn is to stop chasing after them high notes, if she just sang she would be beautiful, and the high notes she did do would sound so much better, belting too much in a song makes the voice dry and raspy, affecting the beauty of the normal singing.
