Hey dudes, Metallica's "hatred" is just PART of being a Megadeth fan. Think about it, most of people who like Megadeth also appreciate Metallica, but because of their past rivalry they keep on making fun about it. Or so do I, to me it's a joke, part of the fun.
Just like feeling like the devil listening to HM, listening to Megadeth make us saying "wow Metallica's shit"! After all Thrash, ain't it about fun and troll? :p
WHY THE FUCK CANT YOU ALL ACCEPT METALLICA AND MEGADETH FOR THE MUSIC THEY PUT OUT AND ATLEAST METALLICA WASN'T AFRAID ABOUT BEING RIDICULED FOR PUTTING OUT "DIFFERENT" MUSIC
@TheScarie Dave would RAPE james in the guitar battle, but idk how the boxing match would turn out, but even if dave lost the boxing match he would have raped james so hard at the guitar battle that it would't even matter and he'd be crowned victorious.
And James would rape Dave in the most important area.......Riff/songwriting. That's why Hetfield has sold 53 million albums and is still playing to large venue packed houses all over the planet and Dave has to play these small halls on cramped stages. That's why Megadeth plays in the daylight at Sonisphere and Metallica closes it out as the headlining act to a rapturous crowd. I love Dave and Megadeth though, don't get me wrong.
@CaptainFantastik1 no, he would not rape him in riff/songwriting. The reason metallica is so popular is because their music appeals to a wider audience i.e. people that dont usually listen to "metal" (if they can even still be called that) thats why their record sales are so high. People that listen to mainstream radio also buy metallica cds. And megadeth doesn't usually play small stages. And they played smaller venues in 2010 because thats what they were playing when RIP came out.
@TheMrcreepingdeath thats what i was thinking when they played in New Orleans when i went, but the way they set up the stage in the big places leaves only like 1/3 of the arena left
@TheMrcreepingdeath@TheMrcreepingdeath thats what i was thinking when they played in New Orleans when i went, but the way they set up the stage in the big places leaves only like 1/3 or even 1/4 of the arena left
@rockerfromhell32 most of you megadeth fanboys only listen to megadeth because they're not mainstream. if the black album didn't get a shitload of sales I bet you any money it would be considered as one of their good albums. also, james vs dave in songwriting is solely your opinion. there is no factual evidence as to which is better, I've been playing guitar for 4 years and there is no notable difference between their technicality/lyrics, I like james better, but that's just me, it's not a fact.
@OVER9000VIDEOS no, like most people that listen to megadeth, i listen to them because i like their music. And the only reason the black album got so many sales is because it appeals to a much wider audience, it would be considered one of their good albums if it was good. but it's not, and thats not just me, there a crap ton of other people in the metal community that would agree. And i never said that it was a fact that dave was better than james.so HA. :)
@OVER9000VIDEOS LOL You've been playing 4 years and can't tell the difference between their technical abilities? Fix your ears. That's just sad. I don't usually like to participate in these kinds of debates, but, while James is a solid rhythm player, you CANNOT say that Metallica's musical complexity compares in any way to Megadeth. I bet my left nut James couldn't play the rhythms Dave plays.
@OVER9000VIDEOS And your opinion is invalid because you can't tell the difference between Megadeth and Metallica's technical abilities. Dave > James any day of the year.
@ThrashTillYouCrash There really is no reasoning with Megadeth fanboys. Neither James nor Dave's rhythms are overly complex, they are on the same level of technical skill. Dave wins when it comes to leads (seeing as Hetfield doesn't play any), and Mustaine even admitted to this in an interview.
@OVER9000VIDEOS It's funny how you label me a Megadeth fanboy, when you refuse to admit that Dave could easily out-riff James. It's not really debatable, Dave's rhythms are more impressive than plenty of lead players. One could easily call you a Metallica fanboy for coming to this video and talking about how Megadeth fans only listen to them because they aren't a bunch of sellout pussies. And you're probably pulling the interview shit out of your ass, but if not, link me to said interview and
I'll believe you. Until then, shut up and fraternize with your Poptallica loving internet buddies on the "Enter Sandman" video, real metal heads don't need to see some wannabe's comments, attempting to show a shred of guitar knowledge.
Again, no reasoning with you baboons. Enter Sandman isn't even pop. Oh, the Black album sold a lot so it MUST be pop, right? The logic of Megadeth fanboys is downright retarded. I'm almost embarrassed to call Megadeth my favorite metal band.
@OVER9000VIDEOS The black album sucked. There were a few tolerable songs on it, but a majority of it was complete shit. And I was referencing the fact that Metallica completely changed their sound to appeal to everybody instead of real metal heads.
There's a huge difference between "fanboy" and "person that knows what they're talking about". It's no secret that Megadeth > Metallica in terms of technical ability. In terms of musical taste, sure, go ahead and say Metallica is better, it's all
And no, the Black album didn't suck. They went from metal to hard rock, but so did Megadeth with Countdown to Extinction. Face it, you're a deluded fanboy faggot.
@OVER9000VIDEOS I don't recall this discussion ever being about bass skills or vocals, so it's irrelevant. Everything you just mentioned after that was subjective. Countdown still had plenty of thrashy moments, whereas all but maybe 2-3 songs on the Black album were slower than a 80 year old man's bowel movements. And reverting to calling me a faggot? Lol. I think I've made my point. Good job.
@ThrashTillYouCrash You said Megadeth > Metallica in terms of technical ability. Does it not require technical ability to play the bass? Countdown was not thrash at all, don't fucking bullshit me. A good album? Fuck yeah. A thrash album? You'd have to be retarded to believe so.
@OVER9000VIDEOS Alrighty then, since we're going there, Cliff's good moments were his SOLOS, when he wasn't playing with the rest of the band. Cliff playing Metallica songs...Simple. Not bad, but not technical playing in the least bit. Props for being a fingers thrash player, but his energy is the highlight of his contribution to Metallica.
Countdown did have plenty of speedy playing, which is a key characteristic of thrash. I didn't call it a thrash album, I said it had thrashy moments (Skin
I'll give you Burton and James Vocals, but just about everything else is Pro Megadeth. At least Megadeth achieves a METAL sound as opposed to a BLUES METAL sound.
I love Metallica, but I love Megadeth more. I will forever be indebted to Metallica for getting me to pick up a guitar, but i will be eternally thankful to Megadeth for both keeping my interest in it, and making me a much better player when I went to learn their songs instead of Metallica's lol.
@CaptainFantastik1 James wouldn't rape anyone in riff/songwriting. Let alone Dave Mustaine, who's possibly the most gifted songwriter in metal -.- Anyone with half a brain knows this.
Also. Dave's albums from 1985 to 2009 have all been musically ahead of James' stuff. Why does it take Metallica 5-6 years to complete a mediocre album, when Dave does 3 superior albums in the same amount of time?
@CaptainFantastik1 But as far as pure skill goes..I've heared tallica doing puppets full album of the 25 year tour. This album does have more comlpex structers but tallica didn't nail puppets like this. They do keep you guessing and are very creative though. But truth be told they'er the best because they were the most focused not because they were the most skilled.(that was maiden)James is better than dave at rythum because thats all he does. Dave is a better guitarist cause he does everything
I dont normally get into these types of debates but give me one reason why James is a better rhythm player than Dave? Especialy when Dave has more complicated rhythm sections eg Poison was the cure.
@1994fishcake Well let me refrase that statement. I ment "was" better at only rythum. During the 80's. reason "fraid ends of sanity" off the justice album, "Damige inc." & "Leper Messiah" off puppets. And this is just off personal taste and the fact that I'm trying to give tallica at least a little credit for being the biggest even thought they weren't the most skilled of the big 4. James seemed to have a nack for making cachy less complex tunes. Dave was brilliant to hear from a musical sta..
@1994fishcake Part 2..stand point he was superior in all aspects of music and wasn't afraid to show it off. No tallica album has more complex structures than Rust. And technically Dave was better than Jame at rythm also. I would have been more clear in my first coment but didn't have enough space. But in either case lest just drop it Rust in peace Kicks Ass and the 5 magics is my fave off the album.
Dare I say it, the solo at the end of this song might be even more epic than the Holy Wars solo. Dave might not be able to sing the best these days but he can destroy anybody when he solos.
@ZomgMetalRules1989 Friedman is so much better than Broderick I cannot even describe it in words... other than the word "better". And who gives a shit if he looks gay? He could look like a piece of furniture for all I care - he is an amazing guitar player.
the new line-up is so great! Shawn is a great drummer, Chris is an excelent guitarist and what can I say about Elfenson and Mustaine? Fucking legends....
Man, watching videos of this tour compared to 20 years ago, yeah, it's not exactly the same because obviously Marty and Nick aren't there anymore, but the core is there...I'm so glad to see Junior back in the group. I didn't realize how much was missing until he came back. Dave's guitar playing has vastly improved since 1990, as it should have. Chris is a beast - duh. Shawn is a good drummer, but there's not really anything to watch. This kind of sound replication is very special. Damn.
a couple friends and i tried to start a pit to this song and a few other ones at this show, the security were nazis though and sent us back. thats why there were no pits
@xstax989 ya if some one gets hurt the badn takes the fall now adays so they dont let you mash unless there underground bands or the bands have no money so sueing will be pointless
@Nivekdeth i bet half the people are there to see them play hangar 18, holy wars, and tornado of souls. no appreciation of five magics, lucretia, poison was the cure...
@digitaIIive : well, the fact that the venue was a theater with seats wasn't exactly conducive to moshing. I did get out in the aisle on the right side to do some proper headbanging and no security stopped me. I'm too old and feeble to mosh. :)
especially since they have such a good lead guitarist now, he shouldn't go to waste, this song is full of difficult solos that he can play easily, also these lyrics are awesome.
seen it played newcastle city hall on the orignal tour a few weeks after release. Was a good record. Alice in chains were supporting, get with with it dudes,!!
megadeth are leaving roadrunner after next record, why dosent capitol try and sign them back?they own 7 out of 12 albums and besides megadeth are more popular right now than they were in 1999 that being the year in which they released there last studio album on capitol. my guess is that they will sign with EMI or form there own label but thats just a wild guess but hell crazier shit has happened within this legendary band. long live megadeth!
Damn, I can't stop watching this video. The guitar solo at the end is simply perfect. Note for note, dead on. Watching Dave's flying fingers while playing this solo is just as fun as watching the Holy Wars solo.
El bajo de Effelson suena de lo mejor al inicio como que le da un toque muy letal y a la vez le otorga poder al tema....grande Mustaine al volver a reclutar a un guerrero de mil batallas como lo es Effelson.
I have seen megadeth since the peace sells tour and everytime they came near pittsburgh and they sounded and played the best i ever heard them.......long time megadeth fan here..........thanks dave..........glad to see jr back.....megahead..ed
My only complaint with the videos from this tour, as well as when I saw them in March, is that Dave's vocals are almost impossible to hear. I thought it was a problem with the PA when I saw them, but apparently it wasn't. It got better for a couple songs and then went quiet again. Still, it was amazing to see all the songs off RIP perfomed in one set.
@eroticblack All I'm implying is that Kirk cant solo as good as Dave. If you watch a 2010 live video of a Kirk solo it isn't perfect, Dave's solo in here is perfect and his playing is still flawless.
@Yoshikid666 well dude no one is perfect perfection is Gods business! and secondly metallica megadeth both are metal pioneers, have same roots, remember dave was the first LEAD GUITARIST of metallica! kirk dave both better guitarists than me and you its as fuckin simple!
@Gepduarsin u mean the one where mustaine & an audience aren't even there? BIG differance b/t soundchecks/rehearsals and live in concert, in front of an audience, and as far as any recorded evidence of 5 magics b4 2010, there is none. check themegadethvideoarchive (dot) com, there's even a "song search"
even tho dave always thought megadeth was second to metallica, mustaines gotta be happy tht he trumps metallica in the hair department lol. hes grown his hair long again, and he looks like he could keep on rocking for another 20 years
Hey dudes, Metallica's "hatred" is just PART of being a Megadeth fan. Think about it, most of people who like Megadeth also appreciate Metallica, but because of their past rivalry they keep on making fun about it. Or so do I, to me it's a joke, part of the fun.

wow hearing and watching dave nail that solo gave me a boner. what an amazing performance.

I always thought that Dave tapped that intro of the last solo.

@digitaIIive great camera work, thanks for focusing on the band and not the crowd!

@digitaIIive that's cause there was no room for a pit
bigjimswafflehouse 1 year ago
@digitaIIive : well, the fact that the venue was a theater with seats wasn't exactly conducive to moshing. I did get out in the aisle on the right side to do some proper headbanging and no security stopped me. I'm too old and feeble to mosh. :)

ellefson kicks major assholes
this song should be played more
especially since they have such a good lead guitarist now, he shouldn't go to waste, this song is full of difficult solos that he can play easily, also these lyrics are awesome.
ThrashTillDeath322 1 year ago
seen it played newcastle city hall on the orignal tour a few weeks after release. Was a good record. Alice in chains were supporting, get with with it dudes,!!

Dave mustaine Rarely plays this song, considering he's a born again Christian.
DrPhilMusic 1 year ago
They never played this song live, even before he was a christian. I don't know why though, cause it's one of the best imo.

daves guitar is fuckin' badass, they should make dave ellefson a dawn patrol bass!
jmanideth 1 year ago
megadeth are leaving roadrunner after next record, why dosent capitol try and sign them back?they own 7 out of 12 albums and besides megadeth are more popular right now than they were in 1999 that being the year in which they released there last studio album on capitol. my guess is that they will sign with EMI or form there own label but thats just a wild guess but hell crazier shit has happened within this legendary band. long live megadeth!
jmanideth 1 year ago
Damn, I can't stop watching this video. The guitar solo at the end is simply perfect. Note for note, dead on. Watching Dave's flying fingers while playing this solo is just as fun as watching the Holy Wars solo.

Dave has the biggest hair in metal now lol Glad he nailed the solo! But is that thing a wig?! O.o

El bajo de Effelson suena de lo mejor al inicio como que le da un toque muy letal y a la vez le otorga poder al tema....grande Mustaine al volver a reclutar a un guerrero de mil batallas como lo es Effelson.

Why did this show have to be at the palace? I had to move all around the seats to get a good view.

Epic shit. I hope they play this song when they come to Europe this summer.
Dregan 1 year ago 2
My only complaint with the videos from this tour, as well as when I saw them in March, is that Dave's vocals are almost impossible to hear. I thought it was a problem with the PA when I saw them, but apparently it wasn't. It got better for a couple songs and then went quiet again. Still, it was amazing to see all the songs off RIP perfomed in one set.
nomad2746 1 year ago
God Dave's ending solo sounds too fucking perfect.
Kirk wishes he could do that.
Yoshikid666 1 year ago 14
@Yoshikid666 you'd better listen ride the lightning solo and then fuckin comment!
eroticblack 1 year ago
@eroticblack All I'm implying is that Kirk cant solo as good as Dave. If you watch a 2010 live video of a Kirk solo it isn't perfect, Dave's solo in here is perfect and his playing is still flawless.
Yoshikid666 1 year ago
@Yoshikid666 well dude no one is perfect perfection is Gods business! and secondly metallica megadeth both are metal pioneers, have same roots, remember dave was the first LEAD GUITARIST of metallica! kirk dave both better guitarists than me and you its as fuckin simple!

yes it has
have u seen the soundcheck when they play it?
im guessing they played it live later on aswell
Gepduarsin 1 year ago
@Gepduarsin u mean the one where mustaine & an audience aren't even there? BIG differance b/t soundchecks/rehearsals and live in concert, in front of an audience, and as far as any recorded evidence of 5 magics b4 2010, there is none. check themegadethvideoarchive (dot) com, there's even a "song search"

hi-hat pedals are to complicated for shawn?
megadeth rules!
jian2069 1 year ago
@jian2069 i noticed the lack of hi-hat pedals during the song too....Menza>>>>Drover
dizazzter69 1 year ago 2
even tho dave always thought megadeth was second to metallica, mustaines gotta be happy tht he trumps metallica in the hair department lol. hes grown his hair long again, and he looks like he could keep on rocking for another 20 years

what chord does Dave play around 1:13 because i know guitarist plays an E then another plans something different.
