@denverJPUE Thank you. I must admit that it took quite a few hours to produce this video, and I never got tired of hearing Steve play or watching Sean fly. Glad you enjoyed it so much, and thanks for posting.
@natew00 I met Sean about a week ago, most of the no aviation people did not know who he was...Your video made them understand why I was so excited to meet him. Glad there is people like you that takes the time to make amazing Videos like this... Thanks
Indeed. Steve told me that he built up lots of time when he flew the Dregs to gigs in their C- 310. He has written about his experience as a professional airline pilot, and I'm glad he returned to music. I always grin when I see him wearing an Oshkosh tee shirt during one of the interviews featured on a DVD. Pretty cool that my favorite musician shares my passion for flying. Making this video was a real treat for me too.
@ccctpc The day I arrived, they were laying new carpet in the office so the couch was outside facing the runway. I did not realize they were remodeling, and thought that it was a fixed piece for everyone to sit out and watch the runway and aerobatics box. Pretty funny. I really loved spending time there.
@jakeclark1012 To be clear...I produced this video, but did not do the flying or play the music. The music was written and performed by Steve Morse, and the flying by Sean D. Tucker of course. I think both are probably the greatest at their respective professions. It was a real treat bringing the two together in this video.
@natew00 yeah thanks for the video, i love flying like nothing in the world, but guitar and music is the close second in my life, great song. Thanks for sharing!
@HIllCarver How nice! I produced this video for exactly that reason. I wanted to see a music video that featured my two favorite artists (Steve and Sean), and I was pretty sure nobody was going to make anything like this for MTV. I produced another longer piece also posted on YouTube titled "Sean D. Tucker and The Collaborators Fly to Night Meets Light" Since you seem to be a an aviation enthusiast, you may enjoy it too.
@BigWheelHawaii Hey Big. Thanks for sharing your candid thoughts on my video. I was able to create this music video by starting with some raw video from Team Oracle, then many days of editing to fit the themes in the music, I created this piece on my Mac using iMovie.
How on EARTH did they get that opening shot? Did they really have some brave fools in a helicopter with the camera, and another brave fool in the biplane aiming for them? I have great respect for both pilots...
@Steeyuv How about skilled rather than brave...The camera had a sufficient zoom so as to allow the helicopter to film from a safe distance. I am similarly impressed with the flying.
This last summer I had the wonderful chance to meet sean. He is really a great person. Very willing to talk to people especially if it has to do with flying.
I completely agree. Like you, I was very lucky to join the Pole Holders Union, and being on the runway during Sean's routine is one of my favorite aviation memories. I had a hard time concentrating on the pole, and not watching him too. Thanks for the comment.
Sean's airplane, the Oracle Challenger bi-plane, has also continued to improve each year. Sean started with a factory built Pitts Special 30 years ago and modified it each year. After reaching the limits of the Pitts, Tucker's team designed a one of a kind airplane that could do anything that Sean asked of it. This resulted in the most high-performance aerobatic aircraft in the world, the Challenger II biplane.
Its the most high-performance aerobatic aircraft in the world today, but not ever. I would say the Turbo Raven had a much higher performance then the Challenger.
Wayne Handley was good too, I'll always remember his raven plane. I always looked forward to seeing him and Tucker at the Salinas airshow. I remember I liked another pilot too, I cant remember his name tho. I think it was Rocky something, he flew a purple Extra 300 I think.
Great point! I really love the music of Steve Morse and Sean's flying, which is why I produced this piece. It is great when folks find this video who can appreciate both.
I've watched his performance at the Hill Air Force base - air show last weekend. I believe the announcer said it took them 16 weeks to build his plane the way he needed it. I took some pictures of his plane, some of them are in my slide show here and he may be in some parts of the video I took, not sure.
I have flown with Sean numerous times. Amazing pilot who is the most prepared human I have ever seen do ANYTHING. Wonderful person as well. Lucky to count him as a close friend.
Ofcourse, he went easy on me compared to this +12/-7 stuff. I did +6/-2 and that was MORE than enough thanks. But, I was ready to do it again an hour later....
Thank you so much for posting this comment. I have been so lucky to know Sean since 2001, and even flew with him at King City (see my video titled "My Lesson with Sean D. Tucker - Slide Show"). I think we all get swept away by his passion for flying, and his incredible discipline around practice and flying for his audience. It just shows that you have to work really hard, all the time, if you want to be truly great. Thanks again.
Yes. I got my Private Pilot License when I was a Senior in High School (many years ago). I currently teach flying on the weekends, and am licensed as a multi-engine commercial pilot, instrument instructor. I really enjoy teaching flying.
I am currently a Junior in high school, and I'm looking to apply for a license of my own, preferrably commericial. I've been looking for someone experienced and awesome to help me get a jump on the process. You seem to be the man for the job. Mind if we keep in touch on YouTube?
Well those are some seriously violent maneuvers he is executing and consequently the structure sees alot of stress as a result. Sorry, im just being a nerd since its what i do for a living. I work as an engineer for Nasa here at GRC in the wind tunnels and we freak out over airframes seeing 3-4 g. that things probably seeing 10+
Thanks for leaving the comment. It's great to hear from a fellow engineer. I agree completely that these maneuvers stress the aircraft to some amazing limits. But you can design a structure to take those stresses. By contract, only conditioning and genetics can allow the human body to continue to function during those maneuvers. When you consider that Sean has to practice twice a day to build up his G tolerance, and he's been doing it for so many years, you have to be amazed.
I saw Sean at Miramar a couple of days ago, and was in awe of his skills! His son was also awesome. I fly RC, and the 3D manuevers in full scale aerobatics just amaze me. Very Cool!
When you think of how few people ever get the chance to fly in a two seat airplane, you realize how special it is that you can fly...even in a C-152. So few people ever learn to fly airplanes, and of those, only a few can fly like Sean. Glad you enjoyed the music video.

The video ends with the same maneuver that can be seen at 1 min 30 sec. You can see the entire routine at oracle-dot-com/teamoracle and enter the Extreme Team Oracle application. From there, you can hear the announcer or Sean, and choose the view you want to see for two views. I like watching the cockpit view while seeing any of the others as you see how Sean uses full stick deflection for most of the maneuvers.
Awesome clip - keep on having to go back and watch it again. The opening sequence is stunning - how was that captured - from a helicopter I guess since initially the camera platform is moving but then stationary for the climb footage?
Music is really well choreographed with the video and perfectly suited - well done on a great bit of work.
NateW - Where did you get the footage? I see an awful lot of shots from Quonset, both in cockpit and ground based. I'd love to see more from my hometown show!
Good eye. The raw video came from Team Oracle (Sean's folks and Oracle). Much of the best video came from the RI show, and he'll be flying here again June 28, 29. As I am in the Boston area, this is the closest show for me to see each year too.
Congrats on starting aerobatic flying. If ever make it out to SFO area, consider taking a lesson from Sean's school. His instructors are really gifted teachers. I've posted a slide show of my flight on YouTube as well...Enjoy your flying. Nate
this is what i got into flying for. im in atlanta and my local has an instructor. also try white water kayaking for the same rush. nothing like dropping off into a class 4+ rapid.
Thanks! I've used Steve's music for other pieces too. I love the way he writes and plays music, and I just see airplanes flying when I hear most of his songs. Editing the video was quite a bit of fun.
Thanks so much. If you look carefully, you can find pictures with Steve in shorter hair. I'm very glad he decided to return to music as we can always train new pilots, and guitarists like Steve are so rare.
I've enjoyed seeing both fly, and enjoy seeing both. I think aerobatics is a form of art, and it is hard to say that one painting is better than another. I've gotten to take a lesson from Sean, and would be thrilled to fly with Patty or make a music video for her if the opportunity came up.
Ive never met either actually, but i do know Keith Erickson.....I tried to talk to him at at competition we were both at...he seems very shy. I did take 2nd place, only cuz I made a mental error.....over all his and seans Students.....do not get me wrong, sean is awesome as is Patty. I just think patty is pure art, Sean is raw agression...your absoultely right both are poetry in motion. Very different styles.
Congrats on your placing at the contest. As a part time CFI and pilot for many years, I've been fortunate to build some hours, but none at the aerobatic competition level. After taking two lessons at Sean's school (one with Sean), I was very tempted to jump in as they made it much more comfortable than I thought it could be. Let me know if you're ever out near King City were their school is.
Sean Tucker is the best! His low alti manuvers are insane! I was recently up in a pitts bipe and the pilot did a knife edge 10 feet up over the r/w on takeoff.

Congrats on starting aerobatic flying. If ever make it out to SFO area, consider taking a lesson from Sean's school. His instructors are really gifted teachers. I've posted a slide show of my flight on YouTube as well...Enjoy your flying. Nate

I watched this video for the music, but the funny thing is that Steve Morse has been a pilot too! (well, normal pilot, but still)

that is some extreme skill there, staying conscious during those maneuvers and managing to keep the prop spinning too, wow thats really impressive

Wow. Excellent posting. Great musical selection. This guy flies like Morse plays guitar.

Thanks! I've used Steve's music for other pieces too. I love the way he writes and plays music, and I just see airplanes flying when I hear most of his songs. Editing the video was quite a bit of fun.

Damn Sean Tucker for having the nastiest Pitts around.

Thanks KB...I've been a fan of Steve's music for many years, and had a blast editing the video so the music would fit the flying of Sean D. Tucker.

Nice tune ...funny cus' Steve Morse flew for Delta for awhile between rock gigs'...bet he had to cut his hair though...

Thanks so much. If you look carefully, you can find pictures with Steve in shorter hair. I'm very glad he decided to return to music as we can always train new pilots, and guitarists like Steve are so rare.

Sean is good...not the best, but good. Patty Wagstaff is way better.

It was one of the best aerobatics video I have ever seen

Sean Tucker is the best! His low alti manuvers are insane! I was recently up in a pitts bipe and the pilot did a knife edge 10 feet up over the r/w on takeoff.

What an amazing guy he is, I saw him at an '07 airshow in Rhode Island.
