Would it have worked better to switch the carrots with the beans ??Easier to get at and still somewhat shaded and carrots are harvested later in the season any way?? I am such a newbie i thought i should ask you ...the garden wizzard...
@Praxxus55712 That i do believe..Actually sounds quite dangerous LOL..But I was thinking a outer row of beans.. then row of corn then 2 ish of carrot then another corn then beans on other outer side ..So basically switching your beans with carrots ..And carrots are now on the inside and beans are on the outside row of box and easily accessible but yet still shaded .But I guess my concern is the carrots not getting enough sun or being too shaded there??Do carrots need lots of sun??
@badluckbug Carrots do need more sun than they'd get inside my corn, but I think if I planted the corn a bit further apart, you idea would work perfectly! Thanks!! :)
I am new to 'grown up' gardening (do lots of pots 'n' tubs in my garden at the mo) and i'd like to say that I love your enthusiasm for vegetable growing, it has really got me excited for my first venture into vegetable growing on a larger scale.. Thank you, you are an inspiration. :)
I really like your videos and vegetable garden. This year i started gardening .Its fun gardening specially when its organically. Keep it up and good luck
Get some Guinea Fowl for that Lyme disease problem. The pick out all of the ticks and bad bugs and weed seeds without scratching up your plants. I love your videos!
How did your peppers do with compost tea? I was just reading that the plants dont really like a lot of compost if you want more peppers vs. a large bushy plant. Have you found this true with any other plants?
SarahFaircloth, peppers love rich soil. Alot of compost & compost tea won't hurt them as long as the soil has plenty of phosphorous & potassium, which promotes flowering/fruiting. As far as balancing the nitrogen, I pour on the tea until mid summer and then lay off so the garden can focus less on growing and more on fruiting. Sometimes I screw it up and end up with too much plant and not enough produce. LOL
Just a idea. how about put the beans on the edges where the carrots are and put the carrots in the middle. yes shade i know but they will still get some as the sun flows between and around the corn still. just a idea.
Let the carrot exhumation begin. Make sure to do it it in the middle of the night during a thunderstrom, just like the movies. (JK)
I think it's cool that you aren't a 'light sensitive' guy. Those people give me the creeps. "Get rid of the shades. It's cloudy out." Huh, I know you 'get' me. What's with those people? I mark it up as strange.
glad you got rain we have not seen any since march and so our garden is bare I live in manor texas and we are jelous
tomatoes what are those? the heat is so bad that they will not even put flowers out ugh 65 days now of 100 and above days

Hi Ray, just got a vision of u with ur corn tassel sprinkling ur corn like the corn fairy, hahaha..woulda made a good video in those tights, hahaha..I actually did some of that w/my corn too trying to help it pollinate but mine is still small...& ur right, it is a pain trying to harvest beans thru the corn but the beans sure do good there..my beans planted alone did not do good at all..got too much heat. Great harvest, congrats! Send extra my way, lol..
Beautiful garden! I really liked your cilantro plants...they are so pretty when they flower. I would like to see your bounty after you harvest if you have the time to film it. :)
i've also started to grow cherry tomatoes, since i figuerd they taste better and in my country they grow the whole year and you get much more out of one bush than a regular tomatoe bush
Your garden is looking great. Down here we are planting our fall gardens, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, etc. Great video as usual.......... Donald

@Praxxus55712 Ray, how can one make sure the soil is getting enough phosphorous and potassium , is there something you can add ?
I3addogy 1 year ago
@I3addogy You can add compost. It is literally the perfect all purpose additive for pretty much every occasion.
